The full scope of the watchful gaze Big Brother has upon the world has been revealed.
Nobody is safe, there is no privacy. Nobody is immune, and Colony Season 2 Episode 4 feels more relevant than ever.
The real world has been screaming for a re-read of 1984, and after this hour, it's a must. Anything to find some solace from the pain I'm suffering beside the incredible performance offered by Kathleen Rose Perkins as she brought to live the last days of Jennifer McMahon.
The big picture came into play as Helena traveled around the world to answer for the state of affairs in Los Angeles.
In her role as Governor General, all of the good and bad lands at her feet. The Los Angeles bloc was under threat of "total rendition." Now I don't know what that means in these circumstances, but it can't be good.

This review contains spoilers.
The very first moments we spend with Colony are with a family at home, witnessing their mundane, strangely uncomfortable morning together. Sure, everything looks fine, but underneath this forced normalcy is a deep emotional tension that bleeds out of every action and movement each family member makes. They’re recovering from a major shock, one that nobody wants to acknowledge, and it pervades throughout their entire Southern Californian household.
The father, Will Bowman, played by Lost’s Josh Holloway, grabs two eggs that sit patiently on the counter. As he prepares to fry them up, he jokes about how they’re baby chickens with his daughter and son. All of a sudden, one of the eggs drops to the floor by accident. Crack.

Colony, Season 1
Created by Ryan Condal and Carlton Cuse
Premieres Thursday, January 14th at 10 pm Et on USA Network
One episode watched for review
Writer and Producer Carlton Cuse has had a very prolific career, being involved with two series, The Strain and Bates Motel, that are currently on the air. One of the most famous shows he’s been involved in, however, is the ABC series Lost, which ended in 2010. Unwilling to rest with working on only two shows, Cuse is set to reunite with Lost star Josh Holloway on his new series on USA, Colony, which Cuse co-created with Ryan Condal. Unfortunately, despite the pedigree, the show itself shows little promise, as its hamstrung by generic plotlines and poorly developed characters.
One of the key issues with Colony is that its world-building provides nothing compelling, instead only raising numerous questions that the show seemingly has no interest in answering.

Six episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
I’ll be honest – there was a time when USA, with its blithely blue-skies formula for original programming (if you don’t know what I mean, try to find one conflict in all of Royal Pains or Satisfaction that can’t be summarized as a first-world problem), barely cut it as a footnote in discussions of dramatic television. But then along came Mr. Robot last year to completely change the game, demonstrating more conceptual daring and narrative innovation in its 10-episode first season than most series on higher-brow networks manage in their entire runs.
That Golden Globe-winning hacker drama is one hell of a tough act to follow, and perhaps it’s unreasonable to hold the network’s newest, sci-fi action-drama Colony, up against it. But such comparisons are inevitable, so it’s probably best to get this out of the way quickly:...

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's streaming on Netflix, we've got you covered.
New on DVD and Blu-ray
"The Martian"
Unfortunately, the poster on this one was misleading -- they never actually let us bring Matt Damon home after seeing the movie. (His wife would probably disapprove.) You can, however, take home Ridley Scott's acclaimed Mars mission movie "The Martian" on DVD and Blu-ray starting January 12. The Blu-ray editions include more than 90 minutes of special features, including five "in-world" pieces, and featurettes from the cast, director, and producers. There's also a gag reel, which should be fun.

Sarah Wayne Callies might have perished in The Walking Dead‘s zombie apocalypse, but she’s keen to take on the challenge of an invading regime once more. Deadline reports that the actress has signed on to co-star in Carlton Cuse’s forthcoming pilot for USA, Colony.
The show, which has thus far only received an order for a pilot, has been described as “a naturalistic drama about a family forced to make difficult choices as they balance staying together with surviving an existential threat to the human race. Set in the near future, the story takes place in L.A., which exists in a state of occupation by a force of outside intruders. The USA Network has picked up Carlton Cuse’s new show, Colony. His former colleague, Josh Holloway, has also signed on to lead the futuristic series for what’s turning out to be an unofficial Lost reunion.
Jumping onto the popular dystopia bandwagon, the show will take place in Los Angeles in 2015, following a mysterious foreign occupation. There’s no details of whether those intruders are from a different country or another planet. The concept of otherworldly visitors, and the downright bizarre shouldn’t be too much of a leap for Cuse or Holloway. The pair previously worked on ABC’s sci-fi adventure smash, Lost, about a group of plane crash survivors on a strange island.
For this new serial, they’ll join forces on for “a naturalistic drama about a family forced to make difficult choices as they balance staying together with surviving an existential threat to the human race.
