God Bless Ozzy Osbourne
Directed by Mike Fleiss, Mike Piscitelli
Schweet Entertainment
Released date: September 16, 2011 (UK) Limited
My local multiplex is usually full of spiky-haired teenagers queuing up for the latest horror or comedy (not that there’s anything wrong with that) often hand in clammy hand with their first date. Tonight, however, is different: there are bikers in the car park and men with long hair, leather jackets, and Iron Maiden trainers in the ticket queue. Tonight, God Bless Ozzy Osbourne is in town.
After the success of MTV show The Osbournes and his brilliant autobiography I Am Ozzy, a documentary about the Prince of Darkness was always going to happen. Being a big fan of Ozzy Osbourne I thought I knew exactly what sort of film I was in for. I was wrong [...]...

Title: God Bless Ozzy Osbourne Movie Review Directors: Mike Fleiss & Mike Piscitelli Starring: Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee, Sharon Osbourne In a society of like-minded people, who foamed at the mouth when VH1′s Behind the Music pulled back the curtain on heralded rock star debauchery of yesteryear, fans of these respective bands believed they were given the whole story. To a certain extent, they were. But after watching God Bless Ozzy Osbourne…Behind the Music can eat their heart out. Or better yet – and more appropriately, bite their head off. Produced by Ozzy’s son Jack Osbourne, the 90 minute-plus documentary doesn’t just peel back the curtain…it...

Review: It takes guts to create something as intimate and personal as “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne,” a new eye-opening documentary on the Prince of Darkness and his music legacy. His son Jack co-produced the film in an attempt to eliminate the negative perception that is sometimes associated with the singer due to his much-publicized history of extreme debauchery, and the outcome is a moving portrait through the eyes of a new-and-improved, sober Ozzy.
Beginning with pre-show backstage footage of the man himself in more recent years, Ozzy is found working out and putting to use a vocal warm-up CD that was made just for him (something you expect from Adele but not a metal god). The footage is boring and a complete opposite of the image one typically has of Ozzy Osbourne’s backstage pre-show rituals, but that’s the point. The man is 62 years old, this is his life now,...

For four seasons, Jack Osbourne and his famous family delighted and shocked viewers with their reality TV show "The Osbournes" -- particularly the antics of patriarch Ozzy Osbourne. But, like any reality show, it was for entertainment value. A new documentary "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne" takes a far more "real" look at the rocker. For two years, filmmakers Mike Fleiss and Mike Piscitelli followed Ozzy on the road. Jack Osbourne served on the producer on the film. Jack ran into two challenges while producing the film: Fitting 60+ years of his Ozzy's life into a 90-minute film, and critics who said he'd be soft on his father. But the younger Osbourne says the film is anything but fluff. Ozzy's reaction to seeing the film was actually quite surprising. Jack tells what Ozzy said to TooFab's Tyler Harrell. Check it out: Plus, check out a clip of "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne," where...

Jack Osbourne has taken aim at a critic of his new documentary about rocker dad Ozzy Osbourne after the journalist gave the film a less-than-glowing review. Jack acted as producer on "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne", for which he teamed up with directors Mike Piscitelli and Mike Fleiss to create a tell-all movie about his father's unconventional story.
The crew followed the Black Sabbath star around for three-and-a-half years to create a never-seen-before glimpse into the Prince of Darkness' life. However, Variety reviewer John Anderson dismissed the movie's credentials, insisting "non-fans will grow restless" and claiming the graphic detail of Ozzy's former drug use bordered on "disgusting".
The review infuriated Jack Osbourne, who has addressed the critic in a foul-mouthed post on his Twitter.com page, writing, "Dear Variety Magazine, your review of my film is absolute b**locks. Your journalist obviously had his head up his a**e the entire time.

Directors Mike Piscitelli and Mike Fleiss worked with the rocker's son, Jack Osbourne, to produce "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne" over a period of three-and-a-half years, but co-producer Jordan Tappis admits they had to start from scratch 12 months into production, because they just weren't getting anywhere.
But Tappis reveals they soon learned how to handle the veteran star, born John Osbourne, and eventually managed to convince him to openly discuss his lifelong battle with drink and drugs, and how his addictions and increasing fame affected his family.
He tells WENN, "The first year (of filming) was pretty much a waste. It was about learning and understanding Ozzy... and we wanted to find out who John Osbourne was, so we spent a lot of time figuring out how to get to him so that he would reveal the truth behind who he really was."

As evidenced by the many books and Behind the Music TV specials on the subject, Ozzy Osbourne has been one of the wildest hard rock front men to ever front a band. But what sounds like the definitive documentary on Ozzy is forthcoming.
Titled God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, the movie was co-produced by Ozzy's son, Jack Osbourne, and was directed by Mike Piscitelli, and written and produced by Jordan Tappis. Additionally, Jack and Ozzy's wife/manager, Sharon, financed the film.
A plot summary of the film was posted on the Internet Movie Database website, which says the following. "Ozzy Osbournes four decade track record as a culturally relevant artist is unprecedented, but his personal struggles have been shrouded in secrecy, until now. Featuring never before seen footage uncovered from the archives and interviews with Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee and others, God Bless Ozzy Osbourne is he first documentary to take...

Where else can teased hair and leather jackets mingle with high fashion? Undeterred by eminent rain, hordes of music and film fans lined up to eagerly await the debut of God Bless Ozzy Osbourne on Easter Sunday evening. The buzz was palpable as fans and reporters jockeyed for position for a glimpse of the First Family of (Lovable) Evil along the red carpet at the Bmcc Theater in Tribeca. Not since the Devil himself has a symbol of the dark side been a household mainstay. Although many people believed that they knew the intimate details of the Osbourne family due to their MTV reality show, documentary filmmakers Mike Fleiss and Mike Piscitelli along with producer Jack Osbourne have created a film that brings a heaping dose of honest reality to this rock legend. With the 'Prince of Darkness' and family in the house, fans appeared blatantly honored to...

This year’s Tribeca will be running from Wednesday, April 20 to Sunday, May 1, so its close start date means that the lineup of movies are coming in fast. We’ve already gotten the World Narrative and World Documentary categories, and the next batch of movies have just been revealed.
Thanks to Deadline, we now have movies in the Spotlight, Cinemania, Special Screening and Sports categories. The list isn’t half bad; the one I’m looking forward to the most is The Guard, which got very strong reviews at Sundance earlier this year. All the categories seem to have solid picks, and I’d say this is shaping up to be a good year. Tfs will be there (including me!), so many of these movies will have reviews up on the site when the festival runs. Take a look at it below:

Well, congratulations New Yorkers, because you’ll get to see at least 2 films I saw at Sundance in January, when they screen at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, which just announced the second half of its festival lineup – the Spotlight, Cinemania, and Special Screening sections, most notably.
The films I’m referring to are Michael Rapaport’s Tribe Called Quest documentary, Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest, and The Guard, which Don Cheadle co-stars in, as an FBI agent (or is it CIA).
I’m still planning on going through the full list of entries to spotlight any titles worthy of this website, and I’ll do that in coming days/weeks… definitely before the festival begins next month – a festival I plan to attend, since it’s right in my backyard.
Worth noting is that Rapaport’s doc will be making its New York premiere, the...
