James Franco and his former film student have settled a lawsuit over Franco's movie, The Disaster Artist. According to Variety, Ryan Moody filed a lawsuit in March 2018 against Franco's production company, Rabbit Bandini Productions, as well as Seth Rogen's Point Grey Pictures, both of which produced the 2017 movie. Moody, who was once a student in Franco's UCLA film class, claimed that he was deceived, leading him to give up the rights to five early drafts that he wrote for the movie, for only $5,000. Moody claimed in the docs that, back in 2013, Franco asked him to adapt the book, but was later replaced when Point Grey Pictures wanted to hire more experienced...

“Let me stop you right there,” said Tommy Wiseau, the mastermind behind “The Room.” He doesn’t want to think about how his long-awaited moment of Hollywood glory may have been cut short when James Franco faced accusations of sexual misconduct shortly after he accepted a Golden Globe for his performance in “The Disaster Artist.” Nor is he interested in the lawsuit filed by Franco’s former UCLA student, Ryan Moody, over an associate producing credit on the film. “This has nothing to do with us, let’s talk about the topic of positive thinking.”
What followed was an extended lecture on how “respect equals success,” and “negative always creates negative. This is my new thing for 2018.”
And ultimately, “The Disaster Artist” was nothing but positive for Wiseau and his best friend, “The Room” costar Greg Sestero, who said it provided “a great learning experience of what it’s like to make a good film.

James Franco’s former teaching assistant Ryan Moody is suing Franco’s RabbitBandini Productions and Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures over the script for “The Disaster Artist,” alleging that Moody was “induced” to sell the screenplay for the Oscar-nominated movie for $5,000, and as part of the deal would receive a credit on the film that he never received. The suit said that Moody Franco and RabbitBandini managing agents Violet Jolivette and Iris Torres promised him an associate producer credit on “The Disaster Artist” if he sold the script, and give him the opportunity to write and direct the “similarly budgeted” movie...

Ryan Moody, who wrote an early draft of what became “The Disaster Artist,” has filed a lawsuit alleging that he was tricked into selling his script for a mere $5,000. A former student of James Franco’s at UCLA, Moody says he was hired to adapt Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell’s book about the making of “The Room” in 2013 and continued working on the project until March 2014, when Franco told him he wanted to replace him with more established scribes.
“Hey,” Franco wrote in an email dated April 2, 2014 and obtained by Variety. “Seth and evan [Goldberg] and [James] weaver want you on as an assoc producer and to give notes on every draft. Cool? Get going on ‘on the bus,’ that’s yours.”
“On the Bus” was Moody’s passion project, and he claims he was told its production budget would be in the same range as that of “The Disaster Artist.

I have a powerful short film for you to watch today called Obituaries. The movie was directed by Ryan Moody and it features James Franco. The short focuses on the senseless shooting at a school and it chronicles of the lives of those that were affected by the shooting.
Seven vignettes each focus on a victim, and give a glimpse of whom they were, whom they loved, whom they hurt, and whom they wanted to be.
It’s a thought-provoking and heartbreaking story that is an inspiring piece of work with a strong message. There are so many intense emotions the film portrays. The final scene really hit me because there’s truth to the meaning behind it.
The film features some heavy content and is Nsfw as it contains violent images and some nudity, but make sure to watch it when you get a chance.

If you ever find yourself desperately in need of a plastic spoon but can’t think where to find any (and how many times has that happened?), look for a cinema that’s playing Tommy Wiseau’s 2003 movie The Room, and you should find enough plastic cutlery at the foot of the screen to last you a lifetime. For reasons that only a true ‘Room’-obsessive can explain, audience members habitually throw plastic spoons at the screen in a reference to the framed photo of a – you guessed it – plastic spoon; just one of the many bizarre and inexplicable visual metaphors in this ‘cult classic.’
It has been hailed as ‘The Citizen Kane of bad movies,’ a film so incredibly badly written, illogically constructed and appallingly acted that stalwarts of Worst Movie Ever charts have now found themselves a new champion. However, like a ten-car pile-up or a Vanilla Ice music video,...

If you consider yourself a fan of cinema, you should be somewhat familiar with Tommy Wiseau’s 2003 film The Room. It’s often cited as the worst movie ever made but since its release it has become something of a cult classic, with a large following of loyal fans who can quote every line and tell you how every scene will play out.
In 2013, one of The Room‘s stars, Greg Sestero, co-wrote a novel titled The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, which chronicles the making of the movie. Now, James Franco has optioned the novel and plans to direct an adaptation of it (off a script from Ryan Moody), with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg on board to produce. There’s also word that Franco and his brother Dave might star.
For those unfamiliar with The Disaster Artist, you check out the plot summary below:

Rabbit Bandini Productions has optioned the rights to "The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room" by actor Greg Sestero which deals with the 2003 micro budget cult film "The Room" which some call the worst movie ever made (fans of "Birdemic: Shock and Terror" may disagree).
Sestero co-wrote the film with Tommy Wiseau who directed, produced and financed the film. Sestero also starred in the movie as Wiseau’s best friend, Mark. Self-released only in Southern California, word-of-mouth spread and it quickly became a cult midnight show regular due to its terrible acting, bad production values and gaping plot holes.
Franco will direct and co-produce the book adaptation from a script by Ryan Moody. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will produce and it's likely James and Dave will take on key roles onscreen.
