So, remember that “Canis Majoris” project that CD Projekt Red had announced a few weeks back? It turns out that project is actually a remake of The Witcher! CD Projekt Red made the reveal late last week, with the game being “rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5” by the folks at Fool’s Theory, with CD Projekt Red providing full creative supervision.
“The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projekt Red. It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then. Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger,” said Adam Badowski, Studio Head at CD Projekt Red.
“Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on the project is just as exciting, as some of the people there have been previously involved in The Witcher games.

Cyberpunk 2077 may be the most anticipated game of 2020 but its long road to release can be measured by numerous controversies that have often attracted the wrong kind of attention.
From delays to questionable tweets, Cyberpunk 2077 can easily be considered one of the most controversial games in recent memory, and it hasn’t even been released yet. While time will tell if Cyberpunk 2077 can “usurp” The Last of Us Part 2 and become 2020’s most divisive game, the project is already at the center of several heated debates that are causing fans to take sides.
If you’re wondering where you stand on the game’s most contested topics, here’s a rundown of every notable Cyberpunk 2077 controversy (so far):
The Numerous Delays and Long Development Time

Ciri making a cameo appearance in CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 has been a prevalent theory among fans for more than five years now, but where does it actually come from?
Well, as you may know, in The Witcher saga by Andrzej Sawpkowski, Princess Cirilla is a descendant of Lara Dorren, bestowed with unique powers because of the Elder Blood that flows in her veins. Due to this, some even call her the Lady of Space and Time, since she’s able to travel anywhere and anytime. Now, we know that Netflix’s live-action adaptation is slowly building towards showing the Cintran Princess’ ties to the Source magic, but Cdpr’s trilogy of video games has already depicted the full extent of her abilities.
In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, when Geralt finally finds Ciri, she talks about all the words she traversed to hide from Eredin and his spectral riders.

The long awaited sci-fi open-world adventure game Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed again. The game, which was set to release on Nov. 19, has been pushed back to Dec. 10.
In a note to fans on Twitter, CD Projekt co-founders Adam Badowski and Marcin Iwinski cited difficulties with testing and shipping nine different versions of the game across current-gen and next-gen platforms, all while working from home, as the major factor in the decision to push the game back once again.

“Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly,” Badowski and Iwinski explained. “We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.

An email acquired by Bloomberg reveals that developer CD Projekt Red will require their employees to work six-day weeks despite previously stating they would not demand a “crunch” work schedule.
“Starting today, the entire studio is in overdrive,” CD Projekt Red boss Adam Badowski states in the email. “I take it upon myself to receive the full backlash for the decision. I know this is in direct opposition to what we’ve said about crunch. It’s also in direct opposition to what I personally grew to believe a while back – that crunch should never be the answer. But we’ve extended all other possible means of navigating the situation.”
Badowski later tweeted a response to the Bloomberg report in which he once again apologizes for this decision and reveals additional details regarding the time of this crunch period and how employees will be compensated as a result of the schedule change.

Studio Trigger is working on a Cyberpunk 2077-based anime series called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners which is set to debut on Netflix in 2022.
“[Cyberpunk: Edgerunners] tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future,” reads a description of the series. “Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”
The anime will take place in Cyberpunk 2077‘s universe, but it will not be a retelling of the upcoming game. Instead, it sounds like Studio Trigger’s goal is for the show to focus on new stories and characters within Night City.
Hiroyuki Imaishi (Kill la Kill) will be directing Cyberpunk: Edgerunners while famed Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka will compose the show’s score. Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red, meanwhile, will serve as one of the series’ producers. Here...

(Note: The demo features some violent combat that might be tough for some people to handle in light of Sunday’s shooting in Jacksonville, Fla.)
Video game publisher CD Projekt Red released a lengthy demo for its upcoming action role-playing game “Cyberpunk 2077” on Monday.
“Cyberpunk 2077” is an open-world narrative RPG based on the tabletop game “Cyberpunk 2020.” CD Projekt teased Monday’s sneak peek with a mysterious livestream on Twitch. A computer screen with the words “data transmission in progress” played for hours. Fans theorized it could be anything from a new trailer to a release date. But, it was actually a pre-recorded featurette focusing on “Cyberpunk’s” character creation, combat, and game world.
The demo takes place near the beginning of the game, as the player character and her friend Jackie track down a missing woman they’ve been hired to locate. They find her in an apartment full of scavengers,...

It’s been a long time coming, but today CD Projekt Red has finally confirmed that The Witcher III: Wild Hunt has gone gold, meaning that the hotly-anticipated RPG is ready to print onto discs and be sent to retailers.
In tandem with the announcement, the reputable Polish dev released a statement about how the creative team painstakingly created the gargantuan fantasy world that will likely serve as Geralt’s final monster-hunting adventure.
“We worked so damn hard over the past three years to bring you this game,” said studio head Adam Badowski in a prepared statement. “From the corrupt nobles in Novigrad to ancient monsters lurking in deep forests, to the bustling cities, colorful ports and breathtaking vistas; all the people, all the places.
“We literally spent tens of thousands of hours to turn all that into an adventure that will kick your ass and make you want to come for more.

Adam Badowski, the Head of Studio for CD Projekt Red, announced on April 16th that the highly anticipated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt “has gone gold and will soon be yours!” That means that the final copy of the game has officialy been sent off for replication, packing and final shipment. In just a little over a month we’ll finally get our hands on the newest iteration in The Witcher series. I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed to learn that the game was being delayed, but I’m happy knowing CD Projekt Red prolonged the release to ensure the final copy was as bug free as possible.

Bummed about not getting The Witcher III this year, like originally planned? Well don't worry, CD Projekt Red is still planning on dropping a Witcher title this year, though it may not be what you expected. Today they've announced a new free to play Moba, coming to mobile platforms, in The Witcher Battle Arena. Come inside for the first details and trailer!
I know that Ftp (free to play) has become something of a bad term, but not every game does the model wrong (I think Plants vs. Zombies 2 handled it well). CD Projekt Red assures fans that their new mobile title set within The Witcher universe will try and do things right. For starters, they promise that everything in the game can be unlocked through the game, so even if you don't pony up any money you can still have full access to all the items. Check out the...

One of the grossest miscarriages of justice in all of games is that Wrex is dead by default in "Mass Effect 2" if the player doesn't import a "Mass Effect 1" save that his him survive the events on Virmire. Not only is the gruff Krogan one of the best characters in the series, but he has major implications for some of "Mass Effect 3"'s biggest decisions.
The fact that he dies by default might explain why 64% of players never saw him in "Mass Effect 2" or "3." (Interestingly, that stat doesn't seem to have affected Genophage cure rates -- 92% opted to save the Krogan race from viral extinction. Maybe Grunt's charms did the trick.)

CD Projekt Red has confirmed the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 will feature multiplayer...
CD Projekt Red's new title, Cyberpunk 2077, is already a very interesting title, and promises plenty of sci-fi RPG thrills and a deep story-driven experience. Well, that's according to the developer, but with the impressive Witcher games already under its belt, it can afford to boast a little.
The game won't only be a solo jaunt, however, and it's been announced (via Eurogamer), that the title will also feature an online multuplayer component.
Talking to Eurogamer, Managing Director Adam Badowski said, "It will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we're going to add multiplayer features."
Badowski also went over some details about the game, confirming that it'll be an open-world title, similar to The Witcher, and that it won't feature a pre-defined hero, leaving the player to create their own protagonist.

It will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we're going to add multiplayer features.
That's CD Projekt Red's managing director Adam Badowski speaking to Eurogamer about "Cyberpunk 2077," the other project being developed in parallel with "The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt."
While Badowski didn't elaborate beyond that briefest of teases about the multiplayer content for "Cyberpunk 2077," the possibility that this open-world RPG will offer the opportunity for other players to drop into your rain-slicked, hacked, modified, and cybernetically- enhanced world is intriguing. It'll be a while before we have more concrete details, though--the game isn't due until 2015 and CD Projekt Red has dedicated the bulk of their team to getting "The Withcher 3" out the door.

CD Projekt Red were kind enough to send the first batch of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” screenshots today, showing the frigid island of Skellige, populated by whales, ice giants, boats, and, uh, witchers. At the very least, there’s a nice mix of landscapes at play in “The Witcher 3”: rocky coasts border wooded forests which grow onto the snowy steppes of the island’s mountain ranges.
Developers are touting the world’s size -- it’s apparently 30 times larger than last year’s predecessor -- but also its complexity and potential for system-driven gameplay: “CD Projekt Red didn’t create an open world with a singular theme, but concentrated on delivering diversified and engaging environments,” writes studio boss Adam Badowski.
The game’s fact sheet also touts the word’s richness, describing its various ecosystems and explaining that places like Skellige are “shaped by the player’s decision,...

Following the the developer's previous announcement that "The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt" was a thing that was currently in production, CD Projekt Red has revealed that final chapter in Geralt's saga is coming to the PS4 and "on all high-end platforms available" in 2014.
In the announcement, released earlier today, CD Projekt Red studio boss Adam Badowski said that his team had been invited to develop for Sony's hardware months ago alongside other developers at Bethesda, EA, LucasArts, Ubisoft and Activision. The Polish developer has talked a bit about how expansive "The Witcher 3" will be, with a large open world as compared to the smaller environments of the previous games.
This would be the first time the series made its way to a Sony platform.

In a press release this morning, "The Witcher" and "Cyberpunk 2077" studio CD Projekt Red laid out some of the basics and ambitions of Redengine 3. According to the release, the new engine allows for easier development of open world gameplay as well as non-linear storytelling, touting it as their next gen-ready solution to storytelling and gameplay.
The press release also included the image above, which doesn't at all look like an environment from a dark fantasy RPG sequel that might be getting announced next week.
You can find the full release after the jump.
“If we look at RPGs nowadays we find two approaches, one which emphasizes the story but limits the game world and one that builds a vast open-world but hampers and simplifies the story. With the REDengine 3 we combine the positive aspects of both approaches for the first time, creating an open environment with a complex, multi-thread story.
