It's the cardinal sin of any reality TV show to be boring and "Project Runway" Season 14 is determined not to go to fashion hell.
The 2015 season finale will air in two parts, with Part 1 tomorrow (Thursday, October 29) and Part 2 next Thursday, November 5. But the finale collection designs we'll see made this week and on the runway next week were already shown at New York Fashion Week back in September. The judges, finale guest judge Carrie Underwood, and other fashion favorites saw the designs in September and talked about what we'll be seeing.
"It definitely will not be boring," Heidi Klum told the Nyfw audience (via USA Today). Six designers showed at fashion week, including at least two decoys, since the real finale will include either three or four designers (depending on whether they give Edmond Newton the Tim Gunn Save and if someone is eliminated before showing collections).

As we approach the Emmy Awards, a little questionnaire silliness. I polled Friends of Tfe and the staff, too.
1. Which character on which show would you kill to see get their own spinoff series?
Joe Reid: That American Horror Story's Myrtyle Snow never got to be a Project Runway judge is the real shame. But if we're talking whole-cloth spinoff, I really honestly think that Mad Men has stopped being able to give to Joan what Joan gives to the show. Watching her navigate the '70s would be amazing.
Mark Blankenship: Can we please, Please follow the further adventures of Lincoln (Hannibal Buress) from Broad City? Maybe he can open a free dental dental clinic, and every week, we can see his zany adventures with his patients and their jacked up teeth.
Nathaniel R: I'd follow anyone from Mad Men through the 1970s... and I do mean...

Project Runway is back tonight with a new twist that proves disastrous for some, and inspires genius in others. Last week's Marie Claire 20th anniversary episode had contestants construct designs for 2014, inspired by 1994 style. Well, tonight wasn't all that different in that the old was transformed into the new, but an entirely new twist is what made this challenge into a debacle for some, and a stroke of brilliance for others.
Once again we have Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia (or,Neenah Gahh-see-a, as Heidi calls her), and Little Lord Fauntleroy's much hotter fashionisto double, Zac Posen, as our judges. Guest judging tonight is JCPenney and Forever 21 design partner, Bethany Mota, whose A??ropostale line has been described by Teen Vogue as "laid-back-but-girly." How cool is that? I think I wanna be that Bethany girl in my next life time. I digress. ...

Forgive yourself if you took a look at the trailer for Tim Gunn's upcoming Lifetime reality series "Under The Gunn" and couldn't quite catch the differences from that other fashion competition he's busy with, "Project Runway." He sympathizes with you.
"I wouldn't expect you to," Gunn jokes Thursday (Jan. 9) at the TCA winter press tour when one reporter admitted they couldn't quite distinguish between the two series. "I'm grateful for the question. ... We took the best parts -- well, I shouldn't say the best parts -- the parts that I love about 'Project Runway.'"
Ultimately, the new series aimed its focus on Gunn and his mentorship role. "Sara [Rea, executive producer] huddled and really came up with this concept about me being sort of the big daddy, mentoring mentors who are mentoring designers in the work room," Gunn explains. "So you see a different dimension than you do on 'Runway' -- in fact,...

A familiar face returns as the designers are challenged with another competition that features many twists and turns — but who will be in and who will be out?
Host Alyssa Milano introduces a familiar face to the designers: Nina Garcia of Marie Claire and Project Runway judge! Having recently become a part of editorial platform HallofStyle.com, Nina asks the contestants to pair up with a blogger featured on the website to showcase a trend for 2014. Several twists make up this challenge; not only will the bloggers be the designers’ models, but in the look they must incorporate Pantone’s color for 2014, radiant orchid. The winning look will be endorsed by Nina in a video that will appear on Hall of Style’s home page that will be viewed by the websites some fifty million subscribers. The winner will also receive a prize package from Pantone worth over $10,000! Not too shabby.

Everyone knows the No. 1 reason to tune in to "Project Runway" is to see mentor Tim Gunn scare the crap out of the contestants and force them to do their best design work every week. Now, the fairy godfather of fashion competitions is getting his very own show on Lifetime. It's about time!
"Under the Gunn," premiering Jan. 16, 2014 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt, is a new twist on the fashion design competition that could essentially be described as "Project Runway: Phase 2." Gunn hosts a competition between "PR" alums Mondo Guerra, Anya Ayoung-Chee, and Nick Verreos as they mentor and manage their own groups of designers -- basically, they're competing to be the new Tim Gunn.
The judges are designer Rachel Roy, stylist Jen Rade, and Marie Claire senior fashion editor Zanna Roberts Rassi.

Fashion is about more than just the clothing. It's also about the history of fashion, and that history is what tripped up some of the contestants on this week's "Project Runway." As part of the challenge, the designers competed in a fashion quiz, and some of them failed miserably.
“What designer made the popular term ‘Little Black Dress?’” asked Marie Claire editor-in-chief Anne Fulenwider.
Contestant Dom Streater blanked. "Oh shoot," he said. "My teacher’s going to kill me.”
“Why can’t these questions be about wallpaper, or photography?" asked Miranda Kay Levy. "I have no idea about the majority of these questions.”
Because it's a fashion competition, maybe?
The "Lbd" phrase has even become fairly common knowledge, with many people not in the fashion industry knowing that it was Coco Chanel who coined the expression.
In his recap of the episode, Zap2It's Billy Niles slipped in an "Oof" for this lapse in memory.

Week 7 of "Project Runway" saw the designers in the midst of the annual Marie Claire Challenge, which isn't so much a particular challenge, but a necessary sponsorship moment. These 90 minute episodes don't pay for themselves, after all.
So, what exactly what this week's Marie Claire Challenge? A visit to Mc's offices (complete with an introduction to Eic Anne Fulenwider) reveals that the designers must create a look inspired by a pair of shoes. Designer Michael Costello’s takes us through the fashionable footwear and all the drama on the latest episode. Read his recap right here!
The episode starts in shoe heaven — as in the Marie Claire shoe closet! Amazing. Designers must be inspired by shoes to create a runway look — but it’s not that simple. The designers must answer Tim Gunn’s Fashion Quiz correctly! If they get the answer right they get to choose — oh so exciting, feels like Jeopardy. Oh and during the quiz what truly shocked me was when Dom & Miranda didn’t know what designer was responsible for the term “Little Black Dress” famous; come on girls! Go back to school! It’s Chanel!!!! Everybody knows that.
‘Project Runway’ Recap: If The Shoe Fits
Sketching time begins at Marie Claire, in the shoe closet. I would have loved to have this challenge, you know I would have turned it out.

"Project Runway" returned to Lifetime on Thursday (July 18) for Season 12 and, while things seemed business as usual at first, the show gradually revealed a handful of changes to its format, as well as its biggest prize package ever.
As the designers arrived at an airport runway (Get it? It's a runway.), host Heidi Klum informed them that this season's prize package was worth over $500,000, the biggest prize in the history of the show. Before she and fan favorite mentor Tim Gunn could reveal just what that included, it was time for the designers to begin their first challenge -- the unconventional material challenge.
Just what would the unconventional material be? Why, the parachutes off the backs of the air divers who just landed at the designers' feet, of course. As the competitors race to snatch the parachute of their choosing, returning designer Kate (voted back by fans after competing in...

It's the finale of "Project Runway" Season 11. On last week's part one of the finale, Daniel Esquivel was eliminated, which left Michelle Lesniak Franklin, Patricia Michaels and Stanley Hudson to battle it out for the win.
So who takes home the $100,000, the Lexus Gs 350 and the fashion spread in Marie Claire?
Michelle Lesniak Franklin was crowned the winner of "Project Runway" Season 11, after all three designers showed their collections in the final runway show at Lincoln Center in front of the usual judges plus guest judge Michael Kors.
Michelle's final collection included some delightfully creative pieces. She had a "huntress urban woman" look to her collection and the judges particularly liked her bleeding-heart sweater.
What do you think, fans? Did the right designer win?...

This week, Kate wants to prove herself and she is ready to fight! Let’s see her put her boxing gloves on and hope that she doesn’t get knocked out like Pacquiao! This week’s challenge is to create looks for Heidi to wear for the launch of her perfume “Surprise.” The perfume is a mix of feminine and hard with ingredients like pink pepper, mandarin, and jasmine. Sounds tasty — is it edible? Heidi gives the designers inspiration boxes and she wants a look that is sexy but not slutty and stays in the color scheme of the perfume which are black, pink, and gold. Let’s see what “Surprises” come out of this challenge!

Heidi Klum's divorce from Seal doesn't seem to be slowing down her sex life -- she just shared some steamy details with Marie Claire! The 39-year-old supermodel graces the cover of the February issue of the mag, on newsstands Jan. 15, where she talks her divorce and being experimental in bed."People say, 'Oh, God, how devastating to go through a divorce,'" Klum says. "Did I wish for this to happen to my family? No. But everyone is healthy; we're moving on with our lives. If someone got [very sick], God forbid, that would be a real problem. It's not what I wanted — it's not what anyone wanted — but it's not a real problem."The couple -- who had been married since 2005 -- filed for divorce in April of last year, but hasn't stopped Heidi from keeping the heat going. The "Project Runway" host has admitted to dating her bodyguard, Martin Kirsten,...

Heidi Klum's view on love and marriage has changed considerably since her split from husband-of-eight-years Seal last year, but that doesn't mean that the Project Runway host believes romance is dead. Far from it. "Some people are more experimental in bed and others are more boring," she tells the February issue of Marie Claire. "If you are wild and crazy, bring it on so the other person is well aware that you have little devil horns that come out every once in a while." "It's good to make [...]...

Auf wiedersehen, Michael Kors -- and welcome aboard, Zac Posen!
Posen is the newest judge of "Project Runway," taking over for Kors as the second full-time judge on the Lifetime TV show. Posen tweeted the good news on Tuesday: "So excited to be the new judge on @ProjectRunway Season 11!! Joining @heidiklum @ninagarcia and @TimGunn."
Heidi Klum, "Project Runway"'s longtime host, tweeted back "Welcome Zac!" and added: "I will miss you this season my brother @MichaelKors I love you!"
Kors isn't gone for good, as a Lifetime TV statement confirms that he'll return as a guest judge for the season finale. His departure was amicable and simply due to scheduling constraints.
"This was an amazing opportunity," Posen said in a statement. "I hope I'm here to give a new perspective to the designers." It will certainly be a younger perspective: Zac is 32 compared to Kors, who turned 53 this year and...

Who says fashion isn't a team sport? Everybody? Well, then, this season of Project Runway is going to be verrry interesting indeed. Season 11 (premiering Thursday, Jan. 24) is kicking the old formula to the curb by putting the 16 designers into teams of two—a twist that the contestants are not aware of until the premiere, which as you can imagine sends them into a panic spiral. The new season will feature guest judges from film, television, fashion and music, including Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon, Miranda Lambert, John Legend, Joan and Melissa Rivers, Emmy Rossum, Project Runway winner Christian Siriano and more. Host and judge Heidi Klum, Marie Claire's fashion director, Nina Garcia, and...

Lifetime's "Project Runway" ends its 10th season Thursday, Oct. 18, as it began it -- with a huge New York event.
The season premiered with a Times Square fashion show and ends with another, at Lincoln Center during Fashion Week. Since this happened in September, when there were eight contestants, each presented 10 looks.
Zap2it picked five of the most representative, which included high-glamour and high-concept, and "Project Runway" judge and Marie Claire Fashion Director Nina Garcia weighs in on the creations.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including The Newsroom, Political Animals, Bunheads, Project Runway and Glee!
1 | How fantastic has The Newsroom‘s Lisa turned out to be? When first introduced, she seemed like little more than a superficial foil for her journalistic roommate, Maggie. But in this week’s episode, girlfriend stepped up! She schooled Jim about choosing her only because Maggie was unavailable, then held Will accountable — on live TV — for the media’s lopsided coverage of child abuse and abduction cases.

Last week on Project Runway, we played a weird form of musical chairs: Andrea left! Then Kooan left! Then Raul came back! Then Buffi was eliminated! Then I passed out! Luckily, I think the drama level for this episode will cool slightly back to normal.
Although perhaps not, as we soon learn it’s going to be a group challenge this week, which are always the worst. As evidenced by three of the contestants then saying, “I don’t like working with others! Grrr Hulk Angrryyyy.” Okay, maybe they didn’t say it exactly like that, but it was close. They are full of rage and disappointment already, which is always a great way to start your work day!
On top of that, their primary client is going to be Nina Garcia for Marie Claire magazine. Okay, Marie Claire At Work magazine, which I guess is a thing.

Five episodes in to Season 10 of Project Runway, and I’m feeling a little dubious about the show’s title. I mean, the “Project” half seems to be more about the moneymaking endeavors of the show’s various judges and sponsors, while absurd (or is it cost-saving?) time limitations have left the “Runway” half of the equation as something of an afterthought.
This week’s beneficiary? Nina Garcia (aka “Nitpicking Nina”), who trumpeted her day job’s brand extension, Marie Claire @ Work, by splitting the designers into two teams, tasking each with creating a cohesive collection of chic professional outfits,...

The clock, so prominent in the sewing room on "Project Runway," looms large. It's 5:03 p.m., four hours before Season 10's first fashion show, in Times Square.
That fashion show, shot on a steamy June Friday, will be the centerpiece of Lifetime's returning hit Thursday, July 19. Lifetime granted Zap2it unprecedented access backstage at Parsons School of Design, where 16 contestants move purposefully, knowing this moment could launch their careers. That's the impact "Project Runway" has, though initially no one expected it to last.
"The first few years, I didn't, but by Season 3 or 4, I did," Heidi Klum, producer, host and judge, says in a hotel suite.

Bummed Lifetime isn't have a Project Runway All-Stars reunion this Thursday?! Well have no fear -- TheInsider.com is here! We have a bonus interview with last Thursday night's big winner Mondo Guerra, one of the most beloved designers in the history of the show, where he talked fashion and life. The candid designer opened up about his winning collection, the trials and tribulations of All-Stars and his close friendship with fellow designer Michael Costello.
The Insider: You seemed to have a very intense bond with Michael Costello?
Mondo: I was so happy that Michael made it to the finale, and that we got to share that experience together. Since season eight we’ve become best friends. We’re inseparable, we’re with each other all the time, and we call each other every day. We don’t necessarily talk about the show anymore, because we’ve already finished it, so now we...

There's something surreal about picking up the phone and hearing Mondo Guerra's distinctly subdued voice pronounce my name. After all these months of watching the designer compete -- and eventually win -- on Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars," this is like a breaking of the fourth wall. As much as we know we're watching reality TV, we still think of the contestants as characters, not actual people, right?
And yet here is the season's winner Mondo Guerra in the flesh (well, via cordless phone) ready to chat about his experience on this season's show.
After narrowly losing "Project Runway" Season 8 to Portland-based designer Gretchen Jones, the quirky designer -- who famously shared his HIV positive status with the world during a poignant moment on the runway that season -- returned to fight the ultimate fashion battle against other past runners up.
