Sarah Desjardins is uploading to the grid. The Yellowjackets actor is the latest addition to Tron: Ares, the upcoming third installment of the classic Disney film series.
Desjardins joins a cast that includes Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters and Jodie Turner-Smith. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil filmmaker Joachim Ronning is directing Ares, which follows 1982’s Tron and 2010’s Tron: Legacy.
While the first Tron film centered on a video game designer (Jeff Bridges) entering his own creation, and the follow-up focused on his son (Garrett Hedlund) following in his footsteps, sources previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the new film will spend more time in the real world. The script from Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne is said to center on a sentient program that crosses over into the human world that is not ready for contact.

Showtime has made a decision on its last remaining current scripted series whose fate had been up in the air, opting not to pick up a second season of comedy I Love That for You. The news comes a year after the Season 1 run of the show starring Vanessa Bayer, who co-created it with Jeremy Beiler. The two serve as executive producers alongside showrunner Jessi Klein and Michael Showalter.
“I Love That for You has completed its run on Showtime,” a spokesperson for the network said in a statement. “We want to thank Vanessa, Jeremy and Jessi, along with the incredible cast and crew for their hard work and wish them the best going forward.”
As Deadline reported, there had been an internal effort to get the well-received series renewed. I Love That for You co-star Matt Rogers claimed in December that a second season of the show already had been written.

Step into the shadows in The Boogeyman (2023), a spine-tingling horror film based on the short story by the legendary Stephen King. Directed by Rob Savage and written by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman, this film takes audiences on a chilling journey that explores the depths of fear and the resilience of the human spirit.
The Boogeyman follows troubled high school student Sadie Harper, and her precocious younger sister, Sawyer, still grappling with the recent loss of their mother. Their father, Will, a therapist dealing with his own intense pain, provides little comfort and closes himself off to the girls emotionally. Little do they know that their lives are about to take a sinister turn when a desperate patient seeking help unwittingly unleashes a terrifying supernatural entity that just so happens to prey on families and feed on their suffering. Talk about unlucky.

As 2022 proved to us over and over again, horror is just about the most reliable thing at the box office right now -- maybe even more than superhero movies in some ways. It's hard to have a flop as big as "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" when budgets are generally much, much lower. But they can't all be huge winners like "Smile" or "M3GAN." To that end, Disney's 20th Century Studios released "The Boogeyman" in theaters this past weekend, and the buzzy Stephen King adaptation had a middling debut amidst a sea of heavy competition. Even so, it would be hard to call this moderate disappointment a loss in any way.
Speaking of superheroes, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" made a staggering $120.5 million in its debut, taking the lion's share of attention from moviegoers over the weekend. With "The Little Mermaid" also in its second weekend, "The Boogeyman" had to settle...

Vivien Lyra Blair played a child version of the iconic Star Wars character Princess Leia Organa in the six episode Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, and now she has a prominent role in the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman, which reaches theatres tomorrow, June 2nd. You shouldn’t expect to see Blair wielding a lightsaber in the film – but during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Rob Savage revealed that her character did carry a lightsaber around in the script… but Star Wars owners Disney didn’t want them to put a lightsaber in the movie.
Answering a question about the moon ball that Blair’s character actually has in the movie, Savage said, “It’s a real thing that you can buy from Amazon. So we bought a few of them, cracked them open and put a light inside that we could control and dial up and down. But the interesting thing about that,...

Horror fans probably know that this latest cinematic adaptation of a Stephen King property was originally slated to go directly to streaming until positive reactions from both test audiences and the author himself prompted a theatrical release instead.
It was a good decision, since the scares in The Boogeyman are so slow-burn and atmospheric that it benefits greatly from the big screen. Not to mention that most of the film takes place in such darkness that the action will only be discernible on the best high-def televisions.
Based on a short story by King that was included in his Night Shift collection, the film, which takes considerable liberties with its source material, is an intimate tale largely revolving around three characters: Will (Chris Messina), his teenage daughter Sadie (Sophie Thatcher, Yellowjackets) and her younger sister Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair, Obi-Wan Kenobi). This post contains spoilers for all of "Yellowjackets" so far.
Of all the characters on "Yellowjackets," Coach Ben's continued survival is perhaps the strangest. "Yellowjackets" usually gets described as "that show about a bunch of teen girls trapped in the wilderness," so viewers getting into the show late might be surprised to find that there's also an adult man with them the whole time.
Coach Ben originally served as the show's voice of reason. He was older and more responsible, so he could stop the group from indulging in its worst impulses. But Coach Ben's one-legged status has done a lot of damage to his control over the team: he can't physically help out at all, and in this new environment, usefulness and social capital go hand in hand. By the time the team is devouring Jackie in early season 2, Coach Ben's been struggling with the reality that he has...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from “Qui,” the sixth episode of “Yellowjackets” Season 2, now streaming on Showtime.
One of the most compelling mysteries in Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” is finally solved in this week’s episode — what happened to teen Shauna’s (Sophie Nélisse) baby?
The episode sees Shauna in labor, with her fellow Yellowjackets surrounding and supporting her as she experiences contractions before finally giving birth. She passes out, before coming to and holding her baby. Things aren’t going smoothly, though, since a starving Shauna isn’t able to produce enough milk. Later, she wakes from her sleep, with her baby not in his bed. She freaks out, and looks for the Yellowjackets — and stumbles into a nightmare of them eating the baby.
Then Shauna wakes from her sleep, to find that her baby boy did not make it, and what we thought we were seeing was all a dream.

As soon as I saw Misty and Crystal (Samantha Hanratty and Nuha Jes Izman) walk toward a cliff to dump the bucket in the "Yellowjackets" episode, "Two Truths and a Lie," I got a bad feeling. It seemed rather ominous to stage a scene in such a dangerous location. The development of Misty and Crystal's relationship has been one of the most intriguing aspects of season 2, revealing a whole new layer of Misty's loneliness and love of musicals.
Another outcast on the Yellowjackets team, Crystal, is the only person who truly gets Misty. "Do you get how lucky we are? Some people never find someone they trust enough to share their deepest secrets," Crystal says during their rapid-fire secret-spilling session. Overcome with excitement, Misty admits she destroyed the plane's emergency transmitter. Being a part of a fandom can be an incredibly affirming experience. Sure, some of our friends and loved ones might not understand why we feel compelled to wear full cosplay and jam ourselves into overpopulated convention centers, but for those that understand our pop culture obsessions, an immediate familial bond can be forged by the power of wearing a matching T-shirt. Fans express their appreciation in countless ways, with some of the more die-hard folks willing to name their children after their favorite characters, or permanently alter their bodies by getting tattoos.
I'll admit that I'm one of those people, as all three of my tattoos are references to movies I love. Getting a fandom tattoo is a risky decision because while something might feel good at the moment, there's always the chance the creator of your favorite property might turn into the world's loudest mouthpiece for transphobia, and...

Exclusive: Showtime has axed King Shaka, its upcoming epic drama series executive produced by Antoine Fuqua, which tells the sweeping story of the Zulu Empire founder.
It marks the latest new series to be canned at the network before it has aired amid a programming overhaul at Showtime, which is being merged with sister streamer Paramount+ and will be renamed as Paramount+ with Showtime.
While King Shaka will not run on Showtime, the premium network is working on multiple other drama projects with diverse storytelling as part of recently announced three main programming lanes, including a project from The Chi showrunner Justin Hillian; Panda, from Fresh Off the Boat’s Eddie Huang; and Quiet in Her Bones, from writer Aminta Goyel.
Showtime also plans to add diversity to the Billions franchise as it is undergoing expansion with spinoffs.

Exclusive: Showtime is keeping its Yellowjackets team intact.
The network has struck an overall deal with showrunner Jonathan Lisco. The move will see Lisco continue to serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner on the hit series, alongside creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, while also developing new projects.
The move comes after it also locked up married couple Lyle and Nickerson to a similar deal last year.
Yellowjackets is a breakout hit for the network and one of the few that is not based on existing IP. The season two premiere delivered Showtime‘s best debut for a second installment that the network has seen in more than 10 years.
That’s before we’ve even got to the fun part with episode two, Edible Complex, which features the first full-blown cannibalism episode of the show and was written by Lisco.

Ok, Yellowjackets faithful: Time to dig in.
Think of last week’s final scene — of Shauna biting Jackie’s dismembered ear — as an appetizer in advance of the full-on cannibalistic bacchanal that rounds out Sunday’s hour. Because the show does not shy away from showing us exactly how hungry, and how altered, these girls are after several months in the wilderness.

Exclusive: The ongoing changes at Showtime have reached the network’s development slate which has been cut down significantly, with a slew of projects getting a pass, I hear.
There had been a programming slate reevaluation since Chris McCarthy added Showtime to his purview following the exit of longtime CEO David Nevins in October. The process accelerated last month when, following the January announcement that the premium cable network will be integrated into Paramount+ on digital and renamed as Paramount+ with Showtime on linear, it was revealed that Showtime will merge with MTV Entertainment Studios.
McCarthy at the time set new programming leadership for the network, with Nina L. Diaz expanding her role as Chief Creative Officer and President of Content of the combined operation, and Keith Cox named President of Scripted, reporting to her alongside incumbent Showtime EVP Scripted Amy Israel.

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Rhea Seehorn is entering the “Better Call Saul” episode “Hit and Run” as her 2022 Emmy Award submission for Best Drama Supporting Actress. “Hit and Run” aired on May 2, 2022 and is the fourth episode of the AMC show’s sixth and final season.
In “Hit and Run,” Kim and Jimmy (Seehorn and fellow Emmy Award nominee Bob Odenkirk) “enlist the help of a local pro to put on a show for Cliff Main (Ed Begley Jr). The episode, which was written by Ann Cherkis and directed by Seehorn herself (her debut behind the camera), is also notable because it’s the first time Kim meets beloved “Breaking Bad” character Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks).

Although Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard is busy putting the finishing touches on the upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield before its release in 2023, and will then pivot to the long awaited The Elder Scrolls 6, the developer is already looking ahead at the distant future. During an interview with IGN to catch up on the Starfield gameplay reveal, Howard confirmed that the studio will move on to Fallout 5 after their next visit to Tamriel is complete.
“Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production, and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while,” he revealed to the outlet. “We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well.”
This news shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise from a studio which since 2008 has traditionally followed up an Elder Scrolls installment with a new Fallout game.

Showtime has given a pilot greenlight to Yellowjackets, a drama from writers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos), Entertainment One and studio-based producer Drew Comins. Karyn Kusama (Destroyer) will direct and executive produce the pilot, a co-production of Showtime and Entertainment One. Production begins this fall in Los Angeles.
Written by Lyle and Nickerson, Yellowjackets is equal parts survival epic, horror story and coming-of-age drama and relates the narrative of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.
