Opening with a male country singer crooning, "We might as well give up and run/If we let them take our God and gun," Assaulted (narrated by Ice-t) might well inspire groans at first, especially as it seems to be taking the familiar rightwing agitprop approach to the subject of gun control. What follows though, is a surprisingly thoughtful, well-researched attempt to give both sides of the argument respect while illuminating the long history of tensions surrounding gun ownership in America.
