There was a moment late in the 2008 men’s basketball gold medal match in Beijing — a tense matchup between a superstar-filled United States team and reigning world champions Spain — when Dwyane Wade drives with the ball past a defender, stopping short just as his feet hit the paint. Wade then kicks the ball out to Kobe Bryant, open and just beyond the three point line.
“I found him across the court, he jabbed, raised up and hit a three. It was at that moment that we realized it was over,” recalled Wade Thursday night while standing on the red carpet for the Netflix documentary The Redeem Team outside Netflix’s Tudum Theater in Hollywood. He knows the play well because it’s one of his favorites from the game, one that ended with gold medals around the necks of Wade, Bryant, LeBron James,...

Madaya Mom is a new digital comic being released today by ABC News and Marvel Comics. The comic will be free to download and will give readers insight into the life of a mother living in Madaya, Syria, under the harsh conditions brought about by cruel conflicts in the region. The comic will be influenced by “Syria Starving: A Family’s Fight for Survival,” a series of blog posts started in January 2016 by ABC News regarding an unnamed woman, whose identity has been shrouded in secret at her own request. Dan Silver (who is the executive producer of ABC News Digital) said he wondered how the story could be told visually, and that’s where Marvel had been strategically brought in. “There was something hyper-specific and very emotional about this,” said Silver. “(The Mother) agreed to speak with ABC because she wanted her story – and the story of her neighbors -- to be known; however,...

The Soap Myth Written by Jeff Cohen Directed by Arnold Mittelman Produced by National Jewish Theater
Great theater is not always a comfortable experience -- indeed, a measure of unease might be a requirement for compelling drama. The Soap Myth, a superbly written, acted, and directed play, richly compensates the audience for whatever discomfort they might experience along the way to this play's conclusion. The action of this chamber drama is carried forward by a series of amazingly crisp, powerful, and natural conversations among the four-person cast. There are various pairings and groupings of the four, with two players portraying additional characters. The topic is one man’s passionate and relentless quest to conclusively answer what has become a lingering question: Did the Nazis actually manufacture soap from the body fat of their Jewish victims?
The man with the answer is Milton Saltzman (Greg Mullavey), a camp survivor, a witness...

According to the Telegraph, Matt Smith is reconsidering his Doctor Who wardrobe: “I had some input initially with the bow tie and tweed,” he says of his on-screen uniform at a private view of the fashion label Acne’s collaboration with artist Daniel Silver in Mayfair. Although he feels he is “stuck” with the look he helped to create, he thinks it may be time for a spot of leather, too. “That would be good,” he says, thoughtfully. In time-honored blogging fashion, we shall now take a random comment made off the cuff at a completely unrelated event and blow it out of all proportion. Omg! Matt Smith hates the tweed! We need to redress the Doctor! Red alert! Red alert! What should be change into? Whatever it is, could it possibly be more ridiculous that a 20-foot scarf, a sprig of celery, or question marks on his lapels?...

For those of you who have been following me on Facebook and on Twitter (thank you!), you’ve probably noticed that I’ve gone slightly mad over the fact that a new season of Project Runway is beginning this summer season!
Though of course I am looking forward to my front row seat on the beach during the “eye candy” matinee during the day, there’s nothing like getting together with your girly-boys on a nice relaxing night, sipping on wine and watching some fierce Lifetime competition on and off the runway.
Obviously, I highly enjoy watching truly talented designers showing off their craft by creating something completely stunning out of almost nothing. And in today’s fashion world, there is a surge of talented designers far beyond the realty television realm that have made a name for themselves in this industry.
With all this talk about design, runway, and sipping on wine,...

Though they may not be quite as visible as, say, her dress, Kate Middleton's wedding day shoes will gain their own share of notoriety come April 29. So, a second round of footwear designers have offered up their visions for the princess-to-be. "With all the paparazzi bulbs flashing, [the shoes] would be beautiful and interesting from every angle," Ivanka Trump tells Footwear News of her proposed design: a T-strap stiletto with rosettes and a diamond-accented heel and strap. Another sparkly offering comes from British designer Michael Lewis, who's also not shy about featuring some bling on his heels. These stilettos are "pure regality and refinement,...
