With “Dancing with the Stars” returning for a 32nd season this fall on ABC after switching last year to Disney+, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve a chance on the dance floor. Two of my past suggestions came true: Frankie Muniz (who came in third on season 25) and Kel Mitchell (who came in second on season 28). Below are six male stars I think the show should consider inviting to compete for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with these picks? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know who you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And feel free to sound off in the comments about what other stars you’d like to see when the show comes back in September.

One year after putting MrBeast on the cover of its inaugural Creator Issue, Rolling Stone has given Emma Chamberlain her close-up. Chamberlain is the star of the second-annual Creator Issue, which arrived on April 18.
Rolling Stone profiled Chamberlain for a Creator Issue cover story that tracks the winding career path the erstwhile teen vlogger has taken. The piece characterizes Chamberlain — who now hosts the podcast Anything Goes and releases easygoing travel vlogs on her YouTube channel — as an unpredictable figure who is willing to go off-script in search of artistic fulfillment. “They gave me a script, but I don’t do scripts,” Chamberlain said before presenting at an event hosted by Spotify. “I do so much better off the cuff.”
Just as MrBeast (real name Jimmy Donaldson) was the perfect choice for the first Creator Issue cover story, Chamberlain is the right person to take Rolling Stone‘s annual tradition into its second year.

The YouTuber movie is one that's often been considered very specific. Usually, they are comedies that star and/or are made by a YouTube content creator specifically to appease their fanbase. None of these are what you can consider future Oscar contenders, but as long as they succeed in satisfying their target audience, they'll be perfectly fine. Right?
If the history of these movies is anything to go by though, a ton of YouTuber movies aren't particularly successful in winning this niche fanbase, let alone general audiences. In a way, it almost seems like the sheer amount of terrible movies with a YouTuber's name on them has set back one of YouTube's primary appeals in the first place. This is, of course, the platform's unique ability to allow creatives to find a platform for their work, eventually building up to bigger projects.

One of YouTube's most legendary creators has new management. Lucas Cruikshank, whose Fred channel was the first YouTube hub to ever surpass one million subscribers, is one of six creators who has joined the Fullscreen talent network.
Fred was a YouTube fixture in the late 2000s and early 2010s; Cruikshank's signature character, known for his shrill voice, even made his way into TV, where Fred: The Movie premiered in 2010. It was followed by two sequels. Since ceasing production on Fred videos nearly three years ago, Cruikshank has sustained his digital presence through vlogs and other videos.
The other creators who have signed Fullscreen represent a number of top categories in the online video world. Singer-songwriter Alex G has collaborated with many other top musicians on YouTube; Khadi Don is a comedian who has appeared on several TV shows; Thomas Halbert is an up-and-coming beauty guru; Jake Koehler is a...

Clickbait titling on YouTube is nothing new, as the platform’s most-subscribed star, Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg, sought to address the proliferation of souped-up titles in order to drive clicks earlier this year. “If you don’t do it, you’re not going to get views,” he said of the practice at the time. “I can spend days on a video, and it will get less views than a video that was sh-t out in 10 minutes that has a better title.”
Now, a meme rocketing across the web hilariously pokes fun at the hyper-dramatic video titles that creators have been employing. As much clickbaiting occurs within the 'Storytime' video category -- or sit-down vlogs in which creators recount particularly dramatic real-life moments, including Tana Mongeau's I Almost Died In An Uber and Lucas Cruikshank's Asked To Have A Threesome At Starbucks -- the memes on Twitter are seeking to re-imagine...

My World Of Flops is Nathan Rabin’s survey of books, television shows, musical releases, or other forms of entertainment that were financial flops, critical failures, or lack a substantial cult following.
YouTube has been a ubiquitous, massively influential cultural force for a good decade, yet its homegrown superstars remain confined to a pop-culture ghetto. Teenagers and tweens worship the format’s cute, accessible Justin Bieber clones who have earned a vast fortune making goofy comedy videos and makeup tutorials and drunken cooking shows and other assorted online ephemera. Yet the entertainment establishment still seems to view the whole scene as a dumb fad.
It does not help that some of YouTube’s biggest stars are best known for being irritating, like Lucas Cruikshank’s screechingly obnoxious Fred Figglehorn, who was sadistically gifted his own film trilogy, which skipped theaters in the United States. Other movies starring YouTube gods have...

With news that a Black Widow movie may finally be moving, we look at 11 Marvel films stuck in development...
When the next Avengers movie hits cinemas, it will have been ten years since Marvel Studios came onto the scene since Iron Man. At the time of writing, they've already released 13 movies and so far (touch wood), there hasn't really been a single clunker among them, and certainly no box office bombs.
The studio also has dates staked out for the next 11 movies, including sequels to Thor, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Ant-Man, along with films based around Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel, in the run-up to a two part Avengers movie that will tie off a lot of the franchise's over-arcing storyline. They've got plenty to be getting on with, but there have been a few projects along the way that didn't quite get the green light.

YouTube has positioned itself as a strong ally of the Lgbt community, and as a result, many of its biggest stars have used the site to aid discussions of sexuality. In the past two years alone, YouTube creators like Lucas Cruikshank and Connor Franta have received positive feedback after using online videos to say “I’m gay.” The latest YouTube star to come out is Joey Graceffa, and he made his announcement into a spectacle by framing it as a music video.
In a video called “Don’t Wait,” Graceffa uses a fairy tale metaphor to tell the story of his life. The video ends by answering a debate the vlogger’s fans have been discussing for years. In a postscript, Graceffa explains how he hopes to serve as a role model for young Lgbt individuals. “I really just hope that it will be able to help some of you...

Currently, there are 871 YouTube channels with at least one million subscribers. In April 2009, though, there was just one: Fred. The YouTube home of Lucas Cruikshank's polarizing, screechy-voiced character was the first channel to ever achieve a seven-digit subscriber count. After becoming one of YouTube's first stars, Cruikshank became one of the first YouTubers to make it to TV when Fred: The Movie debuted on Nickelodeon. About two years ago, Cruikshank ceased regular updates on the Fred channel, and he began making videos on the Lucas and Jenny channel he launched with his friend Jennifer Veal. Recently, though, Fred has returned. After a fake launch involving a fictional Korean corporation, Fred himself came back to YouTube on August 28th. With YouTube's first million-subscriber man back in business, we figured it was time for a special edition of YouTube Millionaires. Here's what Cruikshank had to say about the past, present, and future of the Fred character.

Prepare your eardrums: Fred is back. The hyperactive, squeaky-voiced character portrayed by Lucas Cruikshank has returned to YouTube on his relaunched home, which was once the most popular channel on YouTube. Fred was relaunched on August 5th by Collective Digital Studio, which is partnered with Cruikshank. The first new videos did not go over well with the channel's fans. Instead of Cruikshank, viewers were introduced to a "New Fred", who featured all the screech of his predecessor without any of the charm. New Fred was purported to be a creation of the "Yuksung Corporation", a fictional company that, according to its website, specializes in "construction, financial services, discount product manufacturing, prison management, chemical production, novelty breakfast cereals, and most recently (with the acquisition of the Fred YouTube channel and related characters in July 2014) children’s entertainment." Over the next couple of weeks, a storyline emerged through which viewers learned that...

AwesomenessTV CEO Brian Robbins will make a movie with Nash Grier and Cameron Dallas, two of the most popular personalities on Twitter's Vine video service. Robbins directed movies such as “Varsity Blues” and “Hardball” before founding AwesomenessTV, one of the largest networks of online video channels in the world. Robbins, a successful TV and film producer, switched his focus to digital media after producing a movie with YouTube star Fred (real name Lucas Cruikshank). That movie spawned several sequels, and Robbins is betting Vine stars can deliver a similar following. “Nash and Cam have really authentic voices and a strong connection with.

Lucas Cruikshank may not stand on top of YouTube anymore, but he still knows a cute animal when he sees one. The 20-year old creator, whose Fred character once claimed the most subscribers on YouTube, is the host of Cute Combat, a new web series on the Petsami channel. Cruikshank no longer speaks in a fast-forwarded squeak, but his personality is as hyperactive as ever, and he brings a great deal of energy to Cute Combat. As the host, he pits two categories of cute animal videos against each other and provides some commentary for each video. The first episode pits cross-species snugglefests against aggressive seagulls, with the winner (determined by viewer input) advancing on to a future episode. For a show about cute animals, Cute Combat is loaded with online video talent. In addition to Cruikshank, the series features YouTuber Michelle Glavan as its writer, and future episodes will...

Nickelodeon star Lucas Cruikshank discussed a serious matter in a lighthearted way on Tuesday (August 20). The 19-year-old revealed he is gay in a Q&A video with his best friend Jennifer Veal that he posted on Youtube.
Giggling throughout the entire goofy video, the two fielded random questions from fans until they addressed the many questions they get asking if Cruikshank is gay. He happily revealed that he is, adding to Veal, "Why don't you have to make a video saying you're straight?"
"I'm going to make one, I think," Veal jokes back.
The entire video is cute, fun, and truly inspiring in the way the matter was handled -- as if it wasn't a big deal at all.
"Now you all know that he likes boys and not me," Veal says as she ends the video.

In a Q&A video, Fred creator Lucas Cruikshank nonchalantly announced he is gay. The 19 year old comedic actor addressed his fans' collective speculation about his sexuality by stating, "I'm gay. I feel so weird saying it on camera. But my family and friends have known for like three years. I just haven't felt the need to announce it on the Internet." Cruikshank, whose hyperactive six year old alter ego was once the most popular character on YouTube, came out while fielding questions alongside his friend, Jennifer Veal, herself a TV actress on the Disney Channel's Jessie. While discussing his sexuality, Cruikshank used Veal as an example of our culture's double standards by asking her, "How come you don't have to make a video saying you're straight?" Fred, launched when Cruikshank was just 13 years old, was once the most subscribed channel on YouTube, but its star waned after it aired...

Add Lucas Cruikshank to the ranks of the out and proud. The star of Nickelodeon's Fred series has revealed that he is gay, opting to set the record straight in a comedic YouTube video in which he at first appeared to be engaging in an everyday Q&A with fans. Cruikshank smiled alongside actress Jennifer Veal, of Disney Channel's Jessie, both of them tucked into bed for the Tuesday afternoon rap session. "I just don't know," Veal replied innocently. More light-hearted questions ensued and then, about 1:18 into the video, came the question: "Are you gay?!" "That's so...

The YouTube and Nickelodeon star, best known for his character Fred, said he hasn’t felt the need to announce his sexuality on the internet. Miley Cyrus, whose new single “We Can’t Stop” is already a #1 iTunes download, is quick to assert that she’s both a self-proclaimed party animal and the “hardest-working person you’ll ever meet.” Or at least that’s what she told MTV in the back of a limousine while reflecting on her image. Frankly, I believe her. The 20-year-old megastar powered through her teen years with Top 10 hits, movie roles, and — oh yeah — that insanely popular, concert tour-spawning TV series Hannah Montana. This got me thinking: What other superstar teens never got credit for their extremely hard work? Here are my five favorite hardworking celeb teens ever.

Blip isn’t the only entertainment entity outside of YouTube with which Ray William Johnson is making deals. The 31-year-old with the Third Most-Subscribed YouTube Channel of All-Time just signed the papers that may make him a television star. Lesley Goldberg at the Hollywood Reporter broke the news FX gave a script commitment to “a comedy inspired by the life of the internet star.” Make Gagerman and Andrew Waller will write the script, who along with with Dave Becky and Troy Zien will executive produce. Johnson will also receive a co-creator credit. Should it get picked up for a full-fledged series, the program will air either on FX or the cable network’s soon-to-launch spinoff Fxx and place Johnson within an elite pantheon of YouTube-turned-tv-stars alongside Lucas Cruikshank (aka Fred) and the Annoying Orange. Regardless of where the series is distributed, executives at FX are undoubtedly hoping Johnson’s fan base tunes in.

“Iwanappeepee on you, Iwanapeepee on you, Iwanapeepee on all of you.”
Fred (Lucas Cruikshank) is a character that is so annoying that when Fred’s dad (John Cena) inevitably throws him through a table it’s like somebody is scratching an itch. Fred’s got a helium-based voice and the most offensive campy performance outside the 1980’s. Fred wants to go to Camp Superior, but his mom (Siobhan Fallon) signs him up to Camp Iwanapeepee run by Floyd Spunkmeyer (Tom Arnold). It’s a crappy camp that serves gruel and bug juice (made from bugs). Spunkmeyer really wants to win a competition of some kind which they haven’t been able to win in the past years of existence. And, possibly, there’s something weird going on. You know, besides everything.

I talked to the former Fred: The Show star about his new series, what it’s like to leave Fred behind, and what he has going on for the [...]...
