When you’re rumoured to be the best paid actor in television (now that Charlie Sheen is devoted to spreading the gospel of “win” across America) and have become an unlikely sex symbol in your late forties, employing this relatively new-found superstardom on the big-screen can be more than a little tricky. Although onetime Stephen Fry sidekick Hugh Laurie had a movie career prior to the phenomenon that was his portrayal of a misanthropic medic (including the likes of Stuart Little and Maybe Baby), he failed to bring the revelatory small screen gravitas he has acquired since he became Gregory House to the cinema. Laurie’s one major live-action role since his trans-Atlantic success was David Ayer’s perfectly adequate, but rather unloved, Street Kings.

There’s a new clip out for the upcoming Nicole Kidman vehicle, Rabbit Hole, and its release has me really wondering if this film is anyone’s radar, and whether or not anyone is eager to see it. Not exactly my normal fare, something about this one is making me wonder if I might wind up finding myself recommending it pretty strongly.
Take a look at the new clip, the trailer, and some info, and let me know what you think.
Rabbit Hole is a vivid, hopeful, honest and unexpectedly witty portrait of a family searching for what remains possible in the most impossible of all situations.
Becca and Howie Corbett (Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart) are returning to their everyday existence in the wake of a shocking, sudden loss. Just eight months ago, they were a happy suburban family with everything they wanted. Now, they are caught in a maze of memory,...

Apple has debuted the first trailer for for John Cameron Mitchell’s upcoming drama Rabbit Hole.
Now, they are caught in a maze of memory, longing, guilt, recrimination, sarcasm and tightly controlled rage from which they cannot escape. While Becca finds pain in the familiar, Howie finds comfort.
The shifts come in abrupt, unforeseen moments. Becca hesitantly opens up to her opinionated, loving mother (Dianne Wiest) and secretly reaches out to the teenager involved in the accident that changed everything (Miles Teller); while Howie lashes out and...

Toronto -- In a move that injects a new contender into this year's Oscar race, Lionsgate has picked up North American rights to John Cameron Mitchell's "Rabbit Hole," which had its world premiere Monday at the Toronto International Film Festival.
As the festival winds to its Sunday close, other distributors were lining up films that could play next year's festival circuit: IFC Films said it has acquired worldwide rights, except Canada, to Barry Avrich's documentary "Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project," and Sony Pictures Classics said it picked up North American rights to Pedro Almodovar's latest movie, gothic thriller "The Skin I Inhabit," now filming.
Additionally, Anchor Bay Films has secured rights to "Carjacked," a thriller being directed by John Bonito ("The Marine").
Lionsgate will release "Rabbit" by year's end, and based on positive reactions here, that should make the movie a player during awards season.
