The Fake Sheikh, a three-part docuseries released by Amazon, could compete with any of Netflix’s top-notch docuseries. More than just an information dump, this series has proven to be a great exploration of a gripping narrative and a cinematic reconstruction based on the story. The narrative is centered on British journalist Mazher Mahmood’s rise to prominence through his brilliant but questionable investigative journalism and his eventual fall from grace. The Fake Sheikh is an important story that portrays a common man’s ambition to reach the sky, and his failure due to his inability to commit to truth and honesty.
Born in Birmingham, England, Mazher Mahmood hails from a South Asian background. From an early age, he saw his father, who was a Pakistani journalist, as limited to focusing on stories about his community. Mazher, aka Maz, wanted to break those boundaries and work not only on Asian...

The London tabloid world has traditionally been a sort of journalism Bizarro World, where entrapment is standard practice and news is manufactured on a profit-driven whim, often at the expense of innocent victims. For two decades, Mazher Mahmood strode over this ethics-starved world like a corrupt colossus, enabled by his employers, chiefly News of the World, to destroy lives as an “undercover reporter.”
Mahmood, dubbed “The Fake Sheikh” for the disguise he used to ensnare many of his unwitting targets, once gathered up a large group of illegal immigrants, delivered them to the police,...

It always starts the same way. The opening few piano notes of something slow by Coldplay or Labrinth. A contestant swallows hard, then starts talking about their sick mum/child/dog. And suddenly, before Cheryl can even grab a tissue, you're sat on your sofa blubbing like a toddler.
Yes: The X Factor has given us some of the most heartbreaking moments on TV over the years. And from hysterics at Judges' Houses to Simon Cowell's own rare, salty tears, here are 6 moments that shattered us, ruined us and gave us every feeling possible.
1. Gamu Gate
The so-called 'Gamu Gate' has become a central part of X Factor lore. 18-year-old Zimbabwe-born Gamu Nhengu had given flawless performances throughout the whole show, right through to her rendition of 'Cry Me Out' for Cheryl and will.i.am at Judges' Houses. It's time! To face! The swimming pools and perfectly kept lawns! It's always been our favourite phase of The X Factor and now the glorified game of musical chairs is mercifully over, this weekend sees the surviving 24 acts jet off to Judges' Houses.
Or Judges' Pretend Houses, as we prefer to call it, as they tend to be rented residences. You don't think Cowell and co would let the oiks into their real homes, do you?
There are opulent interiors and guest mentors. Tension gets eked out and tear-sodden hugs get issued. Someone always wears unwise shorts. Someone else dives into a pool with their clothes on. This year, there's even a ghost. We can't wait. But while we do, let's rewind the all-time highlights from Judges' Houses…

Where would The X Factor be without its strange and hilarious auditions? From furious contestants to a sick bag being called for, it's more than just a music competition.
The judges deserve credit too. These bizarre audition gems couldn't happen without them. Check out our favourites, brought to you in association with TalkTalk's new Bopheads app:
1. Ant and Seb (2008)
The Welsh brothers were a mismatched pair if ever there was one. Ant didn't have a bad pair of lungs on him, but - to put it mildly - Seb wasn't quite so gifted.
From this we can gather that Ant is either a) the best brother a guy could wish for or b) completely deaf in his left ear.
2. Holly 'Big Mouth' Jervis (2008)
Over-confidence is rarely a good sign on The X Factor. The holiday camp performer might have sung to people all across the country, but her 'big and...

Celebrity Juice celebrates its seventh birthday tonight with a special 'Throwback Thursday' episode.
Some of Keith Lemon's favourite games make a reappearance, as Holly Willoughby, Gino D'Acampo, Verne Troyer, Dean Gaffney, Chris Moyles and Tulisa join in the celebrations.
New clips from the show see Troyer and Lemon play a spot of charades, while D'Acampo gets compared to Fearne Cotton.
Celebrity Juice airs tonight (September 24) at 10pm on ITV2.
Elsewhere, Keith Lemon and Alan Carr were in rebellious mood recently, breaking into ITV's This Morning studios to vandalise the set for a prank.
Lemon - real name Leigh Francis - also recently suggested he's not sure if Kelly Brook's relationships are genuine because "she's a PR expert".

X Factor producers are considering giving the show a rest for a few years to rejuvenate interest in the format, and one of the show's most successful winners, Little Mix, agree that it's a good idea.
The four-piece - who won the show back in 2011 with mentor Tulisa Contostavlos - said the show is getting "a bit predictable" and that taking it off screens for a few years means people will be left wanting its return.
"I think The X Factor is a brilliant show, but it has [been on] every year and maybe people will appreciate it more," Jade Thirlwall told Digital Spy.
"Like, you know when you split up with someone and then you get back with them and it's even better?"
Jesy Nelson added: "It's getting a bit predictable. You kind of know what's going to happen. Simon's going to go [raises hand], 'Give me another song', and all that.

The X Factor is back on Saturday and while we're looking forward to discovering fresh talent, we're also hoping for some must-see drama.
Some of our favourite X Factor moments have come from the auditions that didn't go quite as planned, from Ablisa's legendary fisticuffs to George's famous face-off with Tulisa. And the judges' reactions are stunning, too, from Nicole Scherzinger's "no baby no" to Dannii Minogue actually hyperventilating in fear.
Relive these and more in preparation for the new series: watch our video above for a jaw-dropping trip down memory lane.
The X Factor returns on Saturday (August 29) at 8pm on ITV.

It's been 18 years since Alan Partridge first mooted the notion of Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank - and as of last week, the project is a dream no longer.
Eubank's team-up with Hostelworld is, of course, a deliberate tip of the hat to Steve Coogan's comic creation - but too often the telly schedules are plagued with examples of #AccidentalPartridge.
Behold, 12 shows that sound like they sprang straight from Alan's fertile mind - this little lot are on a par with Inner City Sumo or Arm Wrestling with Chas 'n' Dave.
1. Flockstars
Celebrity shepherding - Lesley Joseph goes from Birds to sheep and Fazer from N-Dubz lends livestock some street cred.
No-one makes a pun on Amanda Lamb's name, though. Missed opportunity.
2. Gordon Behind Bars
"Cooking in prison" was a format that Alan Partridge actually pitched to Tony Hayers, but it took foul-mouthed foodie Gordon Ramsay to make it a reality.

The X Factor wrapped up filming on its auditions yesterday, and you know what that means - the show's even closer to being back! And boy, what a treat we're in for if these previous auditions are anything to go by.
The audition stages always throw up some weird and wonderful acts, so we've collected just 13 of the best (and most bonkers) that remind us why we're so excited about The X Factor's return...
1. George Gerasimou (and Dermot telling him off)
Where do we even start? This is one of our favourite auditions ever. It starts off on a positive note as George explains that he has grown up since his awful try-out with Triple Trouble - but then as soon as Gary calls an early stop to the music, George kicks off big time, snarling all the while, and his mate joins him on stage to back him up.

It's currently being suggested that X Factor hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack will not be attending the key Judges' Houses stage of the competition in person this year.
Instead, the duo will anchor proceedings from the studio, according to The Sun.
The ITV talent show's previous host Dermot O'Leary jetted across the world with the judges - touching down in locations such as Mexico, Australia and Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for ITV has since told Digital Spy: "There is nothing confirmed for Judges' Houses at this stage."
Last year's Judges' Houses - which sees finalists being selected for the live shows - saw Simon Cowell being joined by Sinitta at his lavish home in La, and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini teaming up with Tinie Tempah in Nice.
Louis Walsh was in Bermuda with Tulisa Contostavlos, while Mel B had a mini Spice Girls reunion with Emma Bunton in Mexico.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks has been cancelled after 28 series, with the BBC confirming the much-loved show will not be returning.

Hosts including Mark Lamarr, Simon Amstell and Rhod Gilbert have appeared alongside team captains Phil Jupitus, Sean Hughes, Bill Bailey and Noel Fielding. Here are some of the greatest moments.
1. Boys will be boys!
Preston took an immediate dislike to being described by Simon Amstell as a "professional celebrity" on introduction, before Amstell joked that his band The Ordinary Boys have no fans.
But it was when he began to read extracts from Preston's then-wife Chantelle Houghton's biography - with the line "The photoshoot was for the Daily Mail, which made me feel really posh and upmarket" - that he stormed off the show in disgust.

Simon Cowell is as close to a 100% confirmed as can be.
An ever-present from 2004 to 2010, Si took some time out to concentrate on the Us show, but came crawling back last year.

The BBC's coverage of the raid on Sir Cliff Richard's house has been nominated for Scoop of the Year at the Royal Television Society Television Journalism Awards 2013/14.
The singer's home was searched by South Yorkshire Police in August following allegations of historical sex abuse - claims that have been described as as "completely false" by Richard.
Both the BBC and South Yorkshire Police were criticised over the coverage, prompting a Home Affairs Select Committee inquiry. The report stated that police should not have cooperated with the BBC after a journalist discovered information about the search.

And so it's over. Ben Haenow has been crowned the winner of The X Factor after months of auditions and more auditions and Boot Camp and Judges' Houses and live shows. Now what?
Well, we're not quite ready to say goodbye just yet, so we've collected some of our favourite moments of the series. We're not talking performances as such - we're talking all the silly sideshow bits and bobs that have made this series. Well, we're not quite ready to say goodbye just yet, so we've collected some of our favourite moments of the series. We're not talking performances as such - we're talking all the silly sideshow bits and bobs that have made this series. Are any as good as Jedward doing their own backing vocals or Rachel Adedeji falling over? We'll leave that up to you to decide.

It's getting serious on The X Factor now, and how do we know? Because each act will be performing two songs this week... no biggie! There are just five hopefuls left – Stereo Kicks, Lauren Platt, Andrea Faustini, Ben Haenow and Fleur East – but who's going to shine?

The X Factor group Stereo Kicks probably couldn't believe their luck when they got to rehearsals today.
The eight-piece boyband were snapped in their sound check at Wembley studios today and it seems that this week they're each getting up close and personal with a dancer.
Casey Johnson and Charlie Jones were spotted kissing their dancers' hands, while some of the other boys snuggled up with their partners on stage.
Some of the Kicks have already been noted for their womanising ways, with Jake Sims and James Graham admitting recently that they take girls to an Ibis hotel.
As part of this week's Jukebox theme, Stereo Kicks were given the song 'Run' by the public and 'Just the Way You Are' by former judge Tulisa Contostavlos.
Contostavlos didn't just stop at picking the song, either; she was snapped in a London recording studio giving the group some advice earlier this week.

Tulisa Contostavlos returned to The X Factor this week to help the last band standing, Stereo Kicks.
As part of this week's Jukebox theme, the former judge was given the responsibility of choosing one of Stereo Kicks' songs for the weekend and picked the Bruno Mars track 'Just the Way You Are'.
However, it seems Contostavlos took her role very seriously, as she was photographed helping out the eight-piece boyband at a London recording studio on Wednesday.
Of course, Contostavlos already knows the boys as she helped their mentor Louis Walsh at Judges' Houses in Bermuda.
And Stereo Kicks should probably listen to her advice, as she mentored Little Mix - the only group ever to win The X Factor.
"I'm proud to be part of the X Factor family and I'm very excited to be involved this year," Contostavlos has said. "I was more than happy...

The X Factor judge Mel B has really been throwing herself into rehearsals with Andrea Faustini.
The former Spice Girl was busting some serious moves at the X Factor studio in Wembley today as Faustini took part in his sound check for tomorrow night's live show.
And Faustini will need all the help he can get after finding himself in the bottom two in a shock result last weekend.
Meanwhile, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini looked worried as she mentored her final act Lauren Platt, who has been sick with a bad cold this week.
Platt tweeted earlier today that it was "not looking good", but an X Factor source told Digital Spy that she is expected to perform tomorrow.
Fernandez-Versini appeared to be giving Platt some words of encouragement during the sound check - perhaps advising a tough mental attitude.

It might be a relatively new institution, but Halloween Week on The X Factor is always guaranteed to bring us brilliant performances - and some nightmare-inducing ones, too. It was, after all, Halloween Week which brought us Gary Barlow's infamous "fag ash breath" comment.
With our current batch of contestants hurriedly preparing their scariest songs, and once we got over the disappointment of discovering Jedward's 'Ghostbusters' was actually in Movie Week, we picked out 12 memorable Halloween Week performances from years gone by in no particular order...
1. Cher Lloyd - 'Stay'
This is how you shake it off! Cher was getting all sorts of criticism for being fond of an old rap or two, so she came out on Halloween Week to prove she could sing with a performance of the belter 'Stay' by Shakespears Sister. The vocals were slightly shaky at times but that didn't really matter because...

The N-Dubz singer told the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw that she is too afraid of insects and the dark to consider joining the competition.
"Those rumours come up every year, I'm a musician," said Tulisa.
"I've done TV but I've never really been a reality TV star and it's not the route I'm looking to go down and when I do TV I want it to be connected to music."
She added: "I couldn't do it anyway, I wouldn't last five minutes. I can't even handle a spider in my bath tub. I'm scared of the dark and I've got ultimate epic bug phobia. "

The Only Way Is Essex star Vas Morgan has stated that he never wants to see Tulisa Contostavlos again, after she was convicted of assaulting him.
Contostavlos - who recently appeared on The X Factor as Louis Walsh's mentor at Judges' Houses - was found guilty in July of assaulting Morgan at V Festival in 2013.
Speaking to Digital Spy and others in Ibiza - where the Towie cast filmed two special episodes - Morgan admitted that he was pleased the trial was over.
"I feel relieved that my name was cleared, because she said a lot of stuff in the media damaging my character," he said. "I never really responded, but I just felt like I don't want people thinking I need to stalk Tulisa or follow her round the world, which is what she claimed. It's quite relieving that I was vindicated by the result."
Contostavlos is planning to appeal the conviction,...
