Wolfgang Zamastil

Born in Salzburg/Austria in 1981 Wolfgang Zamastil at first studied the
Violoncello at the local university 'Mozarteum', moved after his high
scool diploma to Berlin in 2000 and continued his studies at the Berlin
Universities HfM and UdK up to diploma, graduated as master. Always
being interested in contemporary music of any field he founded his own
ensemble 'continuum' in 2000, starting with his own extended
compositions in the field of tango nuevo and developing to a more
specialized modern music concept. Since 2000 he produced four Albums
with Continuum playing his music. 2005 he achieved a one year
scholarship by 'Ensemble Modern' (as a performer) and is being invited
for several projects by this Ensemble continously since then. In the
same year he played his Solo - debut in Salzburg (Shostakovich 1st
Cello Concerto). Zamastil composed music to several films, pieces for
theater and dance and performed in Europe and USA. He published lots of
literature for children and young musicians and worked as a performer
with personalities such as H. Lachenmann, P. Boulez or H. Birtwhistle.
2007 he founded the Indie-Rockband 'Lab of the Halo' together with the
composer Sagardia. An Album is being produced. Furthermore he has been
invited by several Bands and Songwriters to play or arrange their
music, such as Oren Lavie.
