New York, NY – Oct 4, 2012. On a fall night, three filmmakers break into Greystone Park, a hospital known for its radical treatment of patients with mental illness, where electroshock, pressure baths, and lobotomies were commonplace. Once inside, the filmmakers discover that they are not alone; and having entered this realm, reality as they know it will never again be the same.
Greystone Park marks Sean Stone's feature film directorial debut and stars Stone, Alexander Wraith, and Antonella Lentini with a special guest appearance by Oliver Stone. The film takes Sean Stone's skills as a storyteller and performer, talents learned from working on his father’s films, and releases demons from the crevices of the dark, cavernous hospital.
“The film is made in the tradition of Edgar Allen Poe, the great American writer, who recognized that there is nothing more terrifying than not knowing whether one is experiencing something frightening,...

Greystone Park (a.k.a. The Asylum Tapes) is the latest in a long line of “found footage” films to inundate the Dtv market.
It takes the Blair Witch approach by using the actual names of the actors involved and placing in them in a real, purportedly haunted location — in this instance, a former psychiatric hospital in New Jersey called Greystone Park. The building itself is an ominous, gothic structure that practically screams “horror film.” Making his feature directorial debut is Sean Stone, the son of award-winning director Oliver Stone. (The elder Stone even makes an appearance in a scene at the beginning.) His background includes several documentary projects, including some engrossing shorts about his father’s work, making him a logical candidate for this particular genre. Stone is also...

Ok, so that lame intro has probably been done before to mock yet another “found footage” film, but that just underlines the point that people keep bloody making them. Enough already! It may be cheap, but it’s not big or clever, and hasn’t been since The Blair Witch Project some 13 years ago.
It’s especially annoying here, as the location is a real insane asylum, which is a fascinating and undeniably creepy card to play with. Yet because this is a fictional film masquerading as found footage, the potential phoniness of the interactions constantly chips away at the tension. Whether...

I’m one of those people who hear “found footage” and wonder why do they bother. I give the film a chance and then give my reaction after I watched it. Normally I get annoyed by the person behind the camera who is always an asshole and uses the camera as a kind of shield, while shoving it in the faces of the people in front it. Lately there have been a sub-genre of this sub-genre (a sub-sub-genre?) and that is the found footage film set in abandoned psychiatric hospitals, and that is what The Asylum Tapes is.

To bring originality to the found footage genre is a challenge in itself. Due to the sub-genres simplistic style and minimal cost productions it's a no brainer for smaller production companies to get involved with but bringing the intended scares to its audience can still escape the director. Hopefully helmer Sean Stone, son of filmmaker Oliver Stone, can bring a fresh perspective with his directorial feature debut 'Greystone Park'. The movie stars Stone along with Antonella Lentini, John Schramm, Monique Zordan and Monique Van Vooren as well as appearances from writer Alexander Wraith and Sean's father Oliver Stone. The supernatural horror will arrive on VOD across the Us from 13 September and subsequently on DVD from 16 October, courtesy of XLrator Media. Check out the plot details and DVD artwork below....

Shock has discovered a trailer for Graystone , a project formerly announced as SecretStone . This is the fictional feature film debut of Sean Stone, son of Oliver Stone. Sean previously dabbled in some short and documentary film work. A riff on the ol' "Hey, let's break into a creepy building" formula (and this looks like it hits a lot of familiar beats), Graystone centers on three filmmaking friends who venture into an abandoned asylum to test their own fundamental beliefs about the supernatural. Once locked and lost inside, they quickly discover that they are not alone and now they are forced to confront their darkest fears. Sean recruited his pop for a small role; the rest of the cast is rounded out by Sean, Alexander Wraith, Antonella Lentini and Kaila York....

The question beckons - can superior filmmaking ability be transfer from father to son? We can only hope. We are sure to find out soon enough as Sean Stone, son of acclaimed director Oliver Stone, brings us his new horror flick SecretStone!
The news comes by way of Variety (which seems to be on a tear today). The film is young Stone's (pictured right) feature film debut and will tell the tale of a group of filmmakers who are shooting inside a haunted psychiatric hospital famous for its radical treatment of patients. They quickly discover they are not alone.
Considering most young directors make their jumping off point with our beloved splatter-filled genre, this makes perfect sense. Let's just hope that he hangs around a while. The film stars Stone himself along with his co-writer Alexander Wraith and Antonella Lentini. It also features a cameo from screen legend Monique Van Vooren.
