London, June 20 (Ians) Former England skipper Nasser Hussain lavished praise on pacer Stuart Broad’s commitment after his stunning bowling spell on Day 4 of the first Ashes 2023 Test against Australia.
Nasser described him as someone who will “give it his all until he hangs up his boots”.
Broad gave hosts the upper hand in the ongoing Edgbaston Test by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne (13) and Steven Smith (6) in the final session of play on Day 4.
Australia were well-placed at 78 for 1 when Broad dismissed Labuschagne and Smith. The visitors were 107 for 3 at the end of play on Day 4, needing 174 to win on Day 5, with seven wickets in hand.
“He is one who can say that he always gave it his absolute everything. Broad was on his knees with two balls to go in that spell, he had been sprinting back to the end of his mark to beat the clock and bowl one more over,...

London, June 5 (Ians) Australia captain Pat Cummins spoke about the intense workload for the Australian team for the next two months, including featuring in the World Test Championship final against India, saying his team prefers to be slightly underdone rather than being overloaded in playing matches.
Only two members from Australia’s squad – David Warner and Cameron Green – featured in Ipl 2023, while Michael Neser, Steven Smith, Marcus Harris and Marnus Labuschagne played county matches.
It means that majority of the players in the Wtc final squad, including Cummins, haven’t played a lot of competitive cricket since this year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy series ended in early March in India. After playing in the Wtc final, Australia will stay on in England to play in the five-Test Ashes series, ending on July 31.

Hyderabad, Sep 25 (Ians) India won the toss and elected to bowl first against Australia in the series-deciding third and final Twenty20 International at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
This is the first international match at this venue since the 2019 match between India and West Indies.
India made one change in the team that won the 2nd match in Nagpur, bringing in Bhuvneshwar Kumar in place of Rishabh Pant.
“A lot of noise on the ground. It’s good to be back in Hyderabad and play in front of this crowd. We look to keep winning games, it’s important to maintain your momentum in this format of the game, so it was a good win for us. Australia have always been challenging, they bring in a different kind of challenge,” said Rohit Sharma during the toss.
“We need to keep doing the basics right if we have to get success.

Mohali, Sep 21 (Ians) All-rounder Cameron Green, playing as an opener in professional cricket for the time, took India by surprise and along with Matthew Wade led Australia to a thumping 4-wicket win in the first T20I and a 1-0 lead in the three-match series here on Tuesday.
After a disastrous final over in which Hardik Pandya blasted him for three back-to-back sixes, Green redeemed himself and played an imposing knock, smashing eight fours and four sixes in a 30-ball 61 at the Punjab Cricket Association Is Bindra Stadium.
Despite opening the innings for the very first time, the 23-year-old didn’t look nervous at all in front of a packed stadium. On the other hand, an experienced Indian bowling line-up looked clueless, till the time Green remained at the crease.
Chasing a big target of 209 runs, Australian openers Aaron Finch and Cameron Green made their intent clear from the word go.

Townsville (Queensland), Aug 28 (Ians) A half century from opener David Warner and a patient unbeaten 48 from Steve Smith more than made up for another unimpressive performance from Australia skipper Aaron Finch as the hosts defeated Zimbabwe by five wickets with more than 16 overs to spare in the first One-day International here on Sunday.
Underdogs Zimbabwe did show the courage to stand up to the Australian bowlers with top-order batter Wessly Madhevere scoring 72 and opener Tadiwanashe Marumani notching up 45 in the team’s total of 200 in 47.3 overs.
It was the 21-year-old Madhevere’s highest score of his 23 Odi matches thus far and showed that Zimbabwe have a talented batter to base their top-order around in the future.
However, tall Australian all-rounder Cameron Green kept tormenting the visitors, returning figures of 5/33, as Steve Smith pulled in a brilliant outfield catch to restrict Zimbabwe to a manageable score.
