Serbian actor/director Emir Kusturica will star in helmer Olivier Horlait's coming-of-age story "Nicostratos the Pelican." Kusturica is into play a Greek widower who distances himself from his son, who adopts a pelican. The film marks the directorial debut of Horlait, who worked as assistant director on Valmont, the Milos Forman film. Horlait also wrote alongside Eric Boisset, adapting from the book by Boisset. Alain Grandgerard and Stephane Meterfi for France's Wesh Wesh Productions produce. Studio 37 will co-produce. "Winged Migration" bird trainer and some of Jacques Perrin's pelicans will be used.
