Covenant is one of the least intriguing and exciting titles a horror movie-maker could decide to call his film. To be fair, I’m sure the title didn’t come from the director himself, probably someone who was releasing the movie decided that. There seems to many horror movies with the same title or something very similar and it just screams run-of-the-mill, low budget genre title. This movie called Covenant doesn’t throw up much in the way of surprises.
It is low budget and although there’s a variety of reasons I can tell this, the main one is the awful – and I mean student-level – ‘special’ effects. I have no idea how to create CGI...

"Are the dead taunting the living or is the living taunting the dead?" And so begins another night of formulaic horror. If you head over to IMDb you'll discover that Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) lends his name to The Unleashed, an unwanted visitor from 2011 directed by Manuel H. Da Silva. Keep your excitement contained however, Malcolm provides a brief voiceover at the start of the movie and that's it. The film descends so fast from this point forward, you'll be forgiven for thinking Da Silva had a dance with the devil in the pale moonlight. The Unleashed sets its stall out early on, in fact, the film nosedives as soon as we reach present day. Supernatural chaos escalates when a troubled woman with a dark past dabbles with the infamous Ouija board. As far as concepts go, that's as deep as it gets. Starring Trisha Echeverria (American Pie Presents The Naked Mile...

There are some horror movies that stick to one of the many horror formulas so rigidly that they become a silly experience. The Unleashed is a movie that does this with the Ouija board and possession tropes and grips on to them for dear life. With possessions, pentagrams and ghosts with unfinished business it may not be the best of movies, but it still manages to be watchable at least.
After her mother’s death Madison Kennard (Echeverria) returns to the family home to finally face her past. When Lindsay (Salgueiro) a family friend hears she is back, she looks to reconnect their old friendship and it’s not long before she’s...

From the looks of this trailer for “The Unleashed”, director Manuel H. Da Silva has probably seen a lot of horror movies. I mean, a Lot. You’ve got your sped-up creepy lady ghosts, your creepy ghosts with long hair appearing out of nowhere, your possessions, your Ouija board seances, and just an an obscene amount of “ghosts running in the background as a loud music stings” moments. And all that’s just from the trailer! I can imagine he must have saved a lot more for the actual movie. Hopefully, anyway. Get your first look at the trailer, poster, and some images from the movie below. Oh no, ouija boards and the speaking dead appear in this first trailer for The Unleashed! Set to darken theatres June 25th, The Unleashed hosts spirits of another world and mirrored images that sneer back. This is director Manuel H. Da Silva's (Cycle of Fear: There is No End) latest feature and this independent film reminds us that there really is no defeating the supernatural. Have a look at this clip below and see how one woman's reflection torments her, while offering a quick exit to the underworld.
