During 20th Century Fox's CinemaCon presentation, James Cameron offered an update on his Avatar franchise, and announced that he is now going to make four Avatar sequels! The last we heard there was only three, I imagine next year he'll announce four more. I'm convinced that Cameron will be making these Avatar films throughout the rest of his career.
Cameron revealed that the sequels are being created as films that will stand on their own so they will tell individual stories that, together, will “form a complete saga”.
The first of the Avatar sequels is set to start shooting in New Zealand this month, and it's slated to arrive in theaters on December of 2018. The following films will be released 2020, 2022, and 2023. I'm really excited and curious to see what Cameron does with these films. Maybe we'll see some of the concept art shown during the presentation pop up online sometime soon.

If Elvis had a Blue Christmas, we expect director James Cameron will later think of this week as Blue Late Summer. Okay, maybe the wording isn't so elegant, but consider this: Cameron made a splash in the long dormant lake of "Avatar" news yesterday when it was announced that he had hired screenwriter Josh Friedman to help him with the "Avatar 2" script in anticipation for a Christmas 2016 release. Now, ol' Jim has gone and told everyone that we should hold onto our Na'vi butts, because there are going to be three "Avatar" sequels.
Is someone maybe a little worried about the Smurfs stealing all the blue-guy glory with this week's release of "The Smurfs 2"?
According to a press release from 20th century Fox, screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver ("Rise of the Planets of the Apes") and Shane Salerno ("Savages," "Salinger") have been brought on board in addition to...

The Fringe legacy continues at Fox. Days after the cult series ended its run, the network has given a pilot order to a new sci-fi drama from Fringe‘s J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman. The untitled Warner Bros. TV/Bad Robot-produced project is described as an action-packed buddy cop show, set in the near future, when all Lapd officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. In a competitive situation, the drama landed at Fox in September with a pilot production commitment. Wyman wrote the pilot and will executive produce with Bad Robot’s Abrams and Bryan Burk. Kathy Lingg is co-exec producing. Related: Fox Orders Assassins Drama Pilot From John Wells This is one of two dramas from A-list auspices this season set in a world where human-looking robots co-exist with humans. The other, from Howard Gordon and Josh Friedman, which has a big penalty at NBC, is still awaiting word.

Any show with J.J. Abrams’ name attached as a producer gets the fanboys into a tizzy on the net. Which is a good thing for shows like “Revolution”, which is really cool and “Person of Interest”, which is also really good, and any attention is good attention. Then again, the fact that you have Abrams’ name attached also brings some hefty expectations that can also be a heavy burden if the show, you know, sucks (“Alcatraz”, anyone?) Abrams’ latest foray into TV is an untitled sci-fi cop show on the Fox network with his “Fringe” co-producer J.H. Wyman. The show is described as “an action-packed buddy cop show, set in the near future, when all Lapd officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.” Apparently this isn’t even the first show about human-looking, evolved robots co-existing with humanity. Howard Gordon and Josh Friedman are developing a similar show, but...

With Fringe heading into its final season, the series’ Jj Abrams and J.H. Wyman have set up a new futuristic drama at Fox. In a competitive situation, the network has nabbed the untitled Warner Bros. TV/Bad Robot-produced project with a pilot production commitment. Wyman is writing and will executive produce with Bad Robot’s Abrams and Bryan Burk. Kathy Lingg is co-exec producing. This is the second drama from A-list auspices this season set in a world where human-looking robots co-exist with humans. The other, from Howard Gordon and Josh Friedman, sold to NBC in a rich premium script deal. Wyman has been on Fringe, created by Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, since the first season. After co-running the show with Jeff Pinkner for three seasons,...
