Darren Lemke, who has worked on such family films as Goosebumps starring Jack Black and Shazam!, has been tapped to pen the script set in a fantastical world about the club.
Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Dan Cohen are producing through 21 Laps Entertainment, the prolific banner behind Stranger Things and the recent Holocaust drama All The Light We Cannot See.

The talent behind the upcoming musical The Ghost of John McCain should not save a front row seat at its premiere for the late senator’s daughter Meghan McCain, as the former cohost of The View and outspoken pundit took to Twitter this week to denounce the forthcoming off-Broadway show, slam its producers and wish it has no success whatsoever.
On Wednesday, it was announced that the show is slated for a fall premiere at New York’s Soho Playhouse. The self-described “serious and satirical musical” was written by Scott Elmegreen with music and lyrics by Drew Fornarola, and its producers include political strategist Jason Rose and Max Fose, a former McCain campaign consultant.
“This is trash,” McCain wrote of the musical, adding that it’s, “Nothing more than a gross cash grab by mediocre desperate people…I hope it bombs.”

Update with Meghan McCain statement: Meghan McCain says her family has not authorized a new, planned musical inspired by – and named after – her late father.
But considering that the in-development musical features fictionalized characters based on public figures, John McCain included, it’s unlikely producers need any such authorization. Deadline has reached out to a show spokesperson for comment.
In an exclusive statement to The Messenger, McCain said, “My family has not authorized it nor was aware of it. I was as surprised as everyone else to see the announcement.”
This morning, producers Quixote Productions and Max Fose announced an invitation-only industry reading later this week in New York of what they call a “provocative and zeitgeisty” new musical titled The Ghost of John McCain. The musical features a book by Scott Elmegreen and score by Drew Fornarola.

Ask just about any fan of Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time what the best episode of season 2 was, and chances are they’ll point to episode 5, “Damane.” Not the explosive finale, no; but rather the emotionally intense episode in which Egwene is broken by her Seanchan handler to obey unwaveringly or pay the price. It was an episode that both pleased readers of the Robert Jordan novels, who recognized the arc as a pivotal moment for Madeleine Madden’s character, and surprised viewers new to the story with its brutal depiction of enslaved channelers.
We were unable to speak with Madden when the episode originally aired because of the SAG-AFTRA strike going on at the time, but we caught up with her during the hiatus before season 3 returns recently to ask her about her experience with the critically-acclaimed episode, both as an actor giving a powerful performance...

Even with the defeat of a Forsaken and the reunion of the Two Rivers exiles, it wasn’t exactly a fist-pumping victory for the forces of Light in The Wheel of Time season 2 finale. However, several characters reached major turning points in their story arcs providing plenty of satisfaction for viewers, especially for readers of the Robert Jordan novels who were expecting certain touchstone moments to occur. But for those with lingering questions, a closer analysis is warranted.
Ishamael and Lanfear at Odds
For example, what was the endgame for Ishamael and Lanfear? While the former seems determined to stop the wheel of time from repeating history and reincarnating heroes, the latter seems more interested in bringing back her former lover, Lews Therin, than in serving the Dark Lord’s interests. Actress Hayley Mills may have upended her parents’ lives in Disney’s The Parent Trap back in 1961, but her cameo in The Wheel of Time similarly showed how one Aes Sedai appearing in a flashback could influence the course of history for several of the show’s major characters. What at first glance appears to be a Dragon Reborn prophecy of which viewers were already aware becomes, upon closer inspection, a turning point not only for Rand as the subject of the vision, but also for Siuan, Moiraine, and the entire Damodred family.

Many fans wondered why Mat Cauthon actor Barney Harris was replaced by Dònal Finn in Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video's The Wheel of Time.
Mat Cauthon was one of the main characters of Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson's The Wheel of Time series of fantasy novels.
After those books began to be adapted into the TV show of the same name, it looked as though Mat would also be a major name in that as well.

However fans may feel about The Wheel of Time’s accuracy as an adaptation, there’s one character moment that the series simply had to get right from the Robert Jordan books, and that was Egwene’s time as damane, one of the Seanchan’s enslaved channelers controlled by handlers known as sul’dam. The breaking of Egwene’s will by Renna in the latest episode was not only a brilliant interpretation of a very important arc from the novels; it also was teased as a favorite scene of showrunner Rafe Judkins more than a year before it aired.
Judkins took to Twitter during some downtime at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 to answer fan questions about the second season, which was then still fourteen months away from airing on Prime Video. One follower asked the showrunner to share his favorite upcoming two-person scene...

Readers of The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan may already know that the author was heavily influenced by the Dune books of Frank Herbert, but even for those who only know these sci-fi/fantasy classics from their screen adaptations, one parallel became very clear in the latest episode: the character of Aviendha played impressively by Ayoola Smart (Killing Eve). The Aiel prisoner immediately evoked all the desert warrior vibes of a Fremen, making her one of the most compelling new characters of the season.
The Aiel people hail from an arid land to the east of a barrier mountain range, separating them from the kingdoms of the west, just as an ocean separates the Seanchan from the known world of The Wheel of Time. The show has made clear that Aiel are mistrusted in this land because of a great...

The Wheel of Time follows the story of Moiraine, a member of a magical organization. She takes five young people on a perilous journey, believing that one of them is a reincarnation of the Dragon. A very powerful individual who is destined to save the world or destroy it.

This article contains spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 2 episode 4 and the book series.
It’s no secret that fans of the Robert Jordan novels upon which The Wheel of Time is based are not always pleased with the adaptation’s choice of modifications to the original narrative. But in the latest episode, “Daughter of the Night,” the introduction of Lanfear, a new general in the Dark One’s army, gives added agency to an important character. As interesting as she was in the books, Lanfear was initially introduced as a woman in need of rescue with an emotional attachment to the Dragon Reborn… or more specifically, the original Dragon, Lews Therin Telamon.
It’s a subtle but important distinction! When Lanfear first appears in the novels, she immediately targets Rand al’Thor using the alias Selene, just as she does in The Wheel of Time season 2. But instead...

Let’s face it. The Aes Sedai in The Wheel of Time have made some questionable decisions regarding Nynaeve al’Meara since her arrival at the White Tower. Although it’s possible they are in a rush to get the powerful channeler up to speed before the battle against the Dark One, it seems more likely that Leandrin is simply anxious to bypass the prohibition against her teaching Novices so that she can get her hooks into Nynaeve once she’s an Accepted. But pushing Nynaeve through a dangerous initiation too early may have had dire consequences.
The Silver Arches, as they’re called in The Wheel of Time novels by Robert Jordan, are artifacts known as ter’angreal, objects made out of the One Power itself during a time long ago when Aes Sedai channeling abilities were far greater. Although their original purpose is unknown,...

And Rand’s beloved Egwene (Madeleine Madden) is training, along with her reluctant fellow villager Nynaeve (Zoë Robins), to join the Aes Sedai, an all-female order that controls magic. Summer’s almost over, which means the start of the traditional TV season. And while the ongoing Hollywood double strike delayed production for scripted originals across the industry, there’s still an avalanche of new and returning shows coming to broadcast, cable and streaming services this fall.
While we’ll have to wait longer for the return of broadcast staples like the “One Chicago” franchise, “Young Sheldon” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” networks are planning to lean on banked originals (like NBC’s “Found” and “The Irrational”), unscripted staples like NBC’s “The Voice” (with new judge Reba McEntire) and “Dancing With the Stars” returning to ABC, international acquisitions (“Sullivan’s Crossing” on The CW) and even borrowing buzzworthy shows from sibling cable networks (“Yellowstone” airing on CBS). Programming on cable and streaming services has not been as impacted by the production stoppage yet, with plenty of comedy (Paramount+’s “Frasier” reboot), drama...

The Wheel Of Time returns this week with a new season and new characters, but if you’ve forgotten any of the important characters, don’t fret because we’ve got you covered. The high-fantasy show is adapted from Robert Jordan’s works and drifts quite far from the source material. For those of us who haven’t read the books, the show is quite entertaining and has a great dose of fantasy. The show first aired in the year for fantasy lovers! There was Dune, Sandman, The Witcher season 2, and more fantasy media dropping back in 2021. While we are still quite lucky in the realm of fantasy, people have high hopes for the second season in comparison to the first one because of the introduction of the new characters and the pandemic no longer being an obstacle for shooting. So, let’s quickly break down the search for the...

Plenty of fans of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time like to pick Mat Cauthon as their favorite character in the overall story, particularly as the lovable rogue became more and more pivotal as the novels unfolded. That appears to be the same case for Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time series, which premieres its second season on Friday, Sept. 1 (with the first three episodes).
