Friends or more than friends? (l-r: James Lesure, Danny Masterson, Michael Cassidy, Steve Brand)

The TBS sitcom Men At Work isn’t necessarily the gayest of sitcoms out there, but the show about four male friends dealing with life and love while working together at a magazine called “Full Steam” (which, hello, sounds pretty gay to me) features a storyline in tonight’s episode that shows how far we’ve come from the ‘special gay episode’ that was once a staple in sitcoms.
In tonight’s episode, Tyler (played by Michael Cassidy) has a new friend who his buddies/co-workers – Milo (Danny Masterson), Neal (Adam Busch) and Gibbs (James Lesure) – suspect may want more from Tyler than he realizes. However, instead of making the David Bennett character (played by Steve Brand) a predator, the guys, who all happen to be straight, blame Tyler for leading the guy on,...

Killer Joe (Lionsgate) William Friedkin’s film of Tracy Letts’ off-Broadway hit about a family of Texas trailer park cretins (Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church, Gina Gershon) who hire a cop-cum-hitman (Matthew McConaughey) to take out their troublesome mother, then foolishly cross him, is a stinging satire, given double-barreled audacity by Friedkin’s sure, and fearless, directorial hand. Earning its Nc-17 rating in spades, “Killer Joe” reminds us that daring, frank material like this is why movies exist in the first place. McConaughey gives the performance of his career, hopefully redefined after this. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Featurettes; Commentary by Friendkin; Trailer. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS-hd 5.1 surround.
The Dark Knight Rises (Warner Bros.) Christopher Nolan’s coda to his “Batman” trilogy finds Christian Bale returning as a brooding Bruce Wayne/Caped Crusader, this time faced with a hulking villain (Tom Hardy) with respiratory...

A gorgeous piece of history is about to go on Sotheby's auction block, where it is expected to sell for as much as $4 million. "Beau Sancy," is a 400-year-old diamond, making it one of the world's oldest diamonds that is privately owned, according to the AP. It is a pear cut, almost-35-carat rock that is currently on display in Paris, then will travel to London and then Zurich before it will be auctioned off in Geneva on May 14.
David Bennett, Sotheby's jewelry chairman, tells its story. "It has a fascinating history, and really is a once-in-a-lifetime sale. When it was made in the 16th century, the pear cut was new, bold, and so it became the most sought-after jewel of its era. Before the 'Beau Sancy' all diamonds were rudimentary."
French King Henri IV purchased the diamond, so named for the original owner Lord of Sancy, as a gift...

Award-winning American cinematographer Mike deGruy and Australian television writer-producer Andrew Wight have died in a helicopter crash in eastern Australia, their employer National Geographic said Sunday.
Police said two people - an Australian pilot and an American passenger - died Saturday when their helicopter crashed soon after takeoff from an airstrip near Nowra, 97 miles (156 kilometers) south of Sydney, but did not immediately release the victims' identities. Australia's ABC News reported that Wight was piloting the helicopter when it crashed.
National Geographic and Titanic director James Cameron confirmed the victims' identities in a joint statement that said "the deep-sea community lost two of its finest" with the deaths of the two underwater documentary specialists.
David Bennett, president of Australia's South Coast Recreational Flying Club, said the pair had set off to film a documentary when they crashed.
