Hey, "NCIS: New Orleans" fans. The brand new season 6 is almost here! That means it's time to let you guys know what will be taking place in the premiere episode 1. CBS has already released a new press release for it. So, we will certainly be using it to deliver a nice, little premiere episode 1 spoiler session for you guys. To get things started, we have an official title for episode 1. It is called, "Judgement Call." This particular episode will definitely revolve around the main man Agent Pride, or at least that's all CBS is giving us. They only talk about agent Pride in this press release. So, what will agent Pride be up to when season 6 finally rolls around? It turns out that he will be on vacation at first, but then he's going to have to cut it short due to some drama with Hannah. Hannah is going...

"I want to see the future..." "What's in the future...?" Another compelling short film to watch, with a bit of a sci-fi twist. Instant is a short film directed by Alex Albrecht, produced by Roddenberry Entertainment, lead by Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry, who is the son of legendary Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and Majel Barrett. After a desperate criminal takes a bar hostage, six people must face their demons - past and present - in order to survive. But one of them is keeping a big secret that could change everything in an instant. The film stars Tyler Hilton, Manu Intiraymi, Phil Morris, Emily Chang, Tony Janning, and Tara Perry. This short has a few strong performances, working with an intriguing script that explores some engaging ideas. I wish this was a bit shorter, might be more effective, but it's still a good short. Enjoy. Thanks to SyFy Wire for the tip on this.

Warning: the power of Christ may compel you while watching the new featurette from the Neveldine-directed film The Vatican Tapes. Also showcased in this round-up: "The Battle of Endor" episode of the Real Fake History series and a teaser for Fear the Walking Dead.
The Vatican Tapes: A spiritual showdown between Father Lozano (Michael Peña) and a powerful demon takes center stage in director Mark Neveldine's (Crank, Crank: High Voltage) The Vatican Tapes.
"The Vatican Tapes follows the ultimate battle between good and evil- God versus Satan. Angela Holmes is an ordinary 27-year-old until she begins to have a devastating effect on anyone close, causing serious injury and death. Holmes is examined and possession is suspected, but when the Vatican is called upon to exorcise the demon, the possession proves to be an ancient satanic force more powerful than ever imagined. As we learned from one of Community’s best ever episodes, Ken Burns’ heralded documentary films are also ripe targets for parody. Now, Machinima is taking aim at Burns’ signature filmmaking style with a series called Real Fake History, a mockumentary that pretends pop culture stories are historical events.
Each episode of Real Fake History dives into a different pop culture franchise. Across ten installments, the series will visit everything from Starship Troopers to Game of Thrones to Mike Tyson’s Punch Out. The first episode, however, treads upon the familiar nerd territory of Star Wars by examining the Battle of Endor. Narrator Phil Morris (Seinfeld’s Jackie Chiles) leads the way, The Guild co-star Jeff Lewis provides the most comedic punch, and, as you might expect, the camera slowly pans across every single image it encounters. It’s pretty fun stuff, though the commenters seem more interesting in explaining how,...

Christopher Mintz-Plasse, best known for playing Fogell Aka McLovin in the film Superbad, is making his way into web series territory. The 23 year old actor will star in The Far Cry Experience, an upcoming Machinima-distributed mockumentary that will place Mintz-Plasse inside the world of Ubisoft's popular Far Cry franchise. The Far Cry Experience seems to be drawing heavily on classic fish-out-of-water tropes, pairing Mintz-Plasse's nerdy homebody with the untamed wilds of a tropical island. The trailer makes it clear that we'll also see a gruff native as either an unlikely friend or devious enemy for McLovin. Also, bad disco dancing will be present. Check it out for yourself: Now I know what you're thinking: didn't Legend of Neil corner the market on comedies set inside video game worlds? In my mind, yes and no. While The Far Cry Experience could step on Legend of Neil's toes a bit, Mintz-Plasse's acting...

Do you miss The Legend of Neil as much as we do? The multiple Streamy Award-nominated Zelda spoof was one of the first web series to achieve mainstream popularity, but we haven't seen anything from our favorite autoerotic-asphyxiating gamer since October 2010's season finale. That is, until recently. Series creator (and The Guild cast member) Sandeep Parikh and star Tony Janning have released a video on the show's website announcing a DVD complete with the whole series, many special features, and several bundle deals. Though the deadline for bundles was yesterday, I'm sure that Janning and Parikh would figure out a way to take whatever money you're willing to throw at them

They took the Seinfeld way out. Finish while you’re on top. And that they did. Today the series finale (above) of Atom’s long-running hit comedy The Legend of Neil hits the internet after a special screening in downtown Los Angeles last night. We knew this day was coming, and even counting down to it doesn’t make it any easier. This one goes way back for us at Tubefilter. For me, this is the end of an era in web series. Not that no one will ever center a comedy of 80’s pop references around a video game again—no it will happen—but this kind of all star team doesn’t exactly come around every day. Let’s not drop into full board comps to the gold medal winning 1992 Dream Team, but here’s a web series that has Felicia Day on its roster but equally touted...

It’s the end of a chapter in web series next week as one of the internet’s most popular comedies is closing the book on its run as Atom’s most popular franchise to date. The Legend of Neil bows its series finale next Wednesday (Oct 27), but before then, Atom is making the most if it. Creators Tony Janning and Sandeep Parikh hosted a special edition of AtomTV on Comedy Central last night—the network owns Atom and has been increasing the interplay between the two platforms. Sure, Comedy Central gives its internet stepchild the late night munchies timeslot—2:00 Am Et/Pt—but that’s what DVRs were made for right? And I can’t say I haven’t stumbled upon some late night LoN episodes on accident a few times. We have a sneak peek at The Legend of Neil finale above, along with a glimpse of...

The Legend Of Neil: Atom.com's gaming spoof starring Tony Janning also satirizes male geeks.
Explosive late-night comedy -- and a shot at TV.
Only in a Web series would inebriation and The Legend of Zelda be a match made in heaven. But ever since a gas-station attendant woke up hungover inside the classic Nintendo game nearly two years ago, The Legend of Neil has been one of Atom.com's most successful franchises.
The campy live-action series, now in its third and final season, highlights Atom's evolution over the past decade from user-generated indie film shorts to professionally produced comedy series. In 2006, MTV Networks acquired Atom for $200 million, to serve in part as an idea incubator for its cable nets. Recent hit series 5-On, for example, became Comedy Central's Ugly Americans, and Atom has its own popular (for 2:30 a.m.) weekly showcase on the channel. "One of...

The Legend of Neil, the hilarious webseries about a man stuck inside a real-life Legend of Zelda-like video game, is back for its third -- and sadly, final -- season. (Writer/creator Sandeep Parikh reportedly has a TV deal with Comedy Central and will focus future energies on that project.) There are seven new episodes in all, although word is that they're longer and more "epic" than those in the previous two seasons. So how's the first episode -- the only one released so far (and which debuted last week at Comic-Con)? After a pretty funny "remix" of the opening song, Neil (Tony Janning) is back in the "real" world, and he's got his life back together -- if you call pumping gas "back together." When he realizes that his father (also played byTony Janning, in a funny bald-wig) has been keeping secrets about his dead mother (who also looks to be portrayed by Janning,...

Has it been a year already? Once again, Comic-Con week is upon us and this year looks like it's going to take last year and blow it out of the water in terms of web series representation. By now you should have at least two Memorial Day BBQs under your belts, and what better time to embrace your bratwurst coma for a low-maintenance look at the week ahead in web series. Tomorrow is officially the start of June and with it comes the premiere of Squatters, a new comedy on Dailymotion from creator Brendan Bradley. We had an early exclusive peek at Squatters, which hinted at its lineup of web series notables like The Guild’s Sandeep Parkih, Circle of Eight’s Austin Highsmith, and The Legend of Neil’s Tony Janning. Even NPR’s The Story took interest in the indie comedy. “After The Guild, I was suddenly an ‘Actor,’ and I realized that was a career I wanted to further explore,” said Parikh. “With Squatters, I get the opportunity to play a very different character than Zaboo, and who could turn down the chance to improvise,...

Sure why not, in the midst of all the pomp around TV upfront season with networks announcing their fall lineups, web TV network Atom.com unveiled its shiny new slate of comedy web series today. Homeless has a 9-episode pickup starting June 15. The slate actually begins today, with the premiere of M'Larky from creator Dan Fogler who stars as detective Black in a cop show well past its prime. The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.
This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.
The awards ceremony takes place on April 11th 2010 and the full list of nominees is listed below with handy links...

The Legend of Neil dropped its season 2 finale (above) yesterday and followed it up with a live chat last night on UStream with the cast that drew over 10,000 total viewers. Online musicals are all the rage, and we probably have the Whedon clan to thank for that. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog gets a lot of credit for pushing web video forward, and you can't help but notice its inspiration in The Legend of Neil's new season with the release of Episode 3 (above) today on Atom.com. (Warning, the video is potentially Nsfw, well, depending on where you work.) Neil creators Sandeep Parikh and Tony Janning, who stars as Neil in the series, gave a preview of the episode last month at a live screening. In what be the raunchiest appearance on screen to date by Felicia Day (The Guild, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), Day returns as the fairy finding herself is a spot of trouble with Ganon (Scott Chernoff). Atom hosted a special preview screening Tuesday night of the first three episodes of The Legend of Neil season 2, revealing what had been rumored earlier this summer—the season does indeed contain a 9-minute musical episode. We're talking a colorful set of original songs that make a not so subtle nod to the web's musical gold standard, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Creators Sandeep Parikh (The Guild) and Tony Janning opened the evening with Neil star Janning acting out the show's ignominious opening. Janning returns as underachieving everyman Neil, who faces a new set of life turds this time around. Good thing for his quantum space bending game console, as he's right back as Link inside the world of Zelda once again. Also returning is Felicia Day who brings back her role as the pint-sized Fairy. Following the screening, there was a brief Q&A with Parikh and the cast members Janning,...
