This is the most heartbreaking story. Two young Philadelphia teachers have died after a terrible car accident. The newlywed couple was pregnant with their first child, and the dying husband pleaded with paramedics to save his wife over him when they arrived on the scene. Unfortunately it was too late for both of them.
Jamie Soukup Reid, 25, and her husband Will Reid, 26, have died following a tragic car crash in Asheville, North Carolina. Jamie was pregnant with the couple’s first child. Perhaps the most heart-wrenching detail of the story is that the first sonogram pics of their baby were recovered in the mom-to-be’s purse after the accident.

Jamie and Will were passengers of a hired limousine in North Carolina when the driver lost control of the car and crashed it into a tree.

“It must have been a good film, you’re smiling like they were giving away free burritos” is what I was greeted with by my girlfriend after watching The Green Hornet. She was spot on. Despite my reservations, The Green Hornet is a welcome addition to the hero movie genre. Whilst it doesn’t have a story line tighter than a fish’s anus, it’s an extremely good smash fest and that’s always a good thing.
Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is a yuppy playboy who has ridden on his father’s coat tails all his life, but when James Reid (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, Britt meets an impressive and resourceful company employee, Kato (Jay Chou). Somewhat tenuously they realise that they have the resources...

There was a lot of doubt and pessimism surrounding The Green Hornet before its release, with many folks questioning its star/writer/co-producer and rumblings that the studio was unhappy with the film and subsequently delayed its release. In the end, though, this skepticism proved to be unjustified; The Green Hornet is a fun, often times hilarious entry in the well-established superhero genre and is an origin story worth seeing, provided you’re not tired of Seth Rogen and his style of comedy.
The film stars Rogen as Britt Reid, the son of millionaire media mogul James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), an irresponsible and immature playboy with plenty of daddy issues. When his father dies from mysterious circumstances, Reid inherits the responsibility of running his newspaper, something he has no real interest in and he dismisses almost immediately. After he fires almost everyone on his father’s housekeeping staff, Britt wakes...

The Green Hornet Directed by: Michel Gondry Written by: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg Starring: Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Christoph Waltz, Tom Wilkinson After all the delays and production problems over the past couple of years, it almost feels like Seth Rogen's The Green Hornet should never have made it to theatres this weekend. Indeed, there are plenty of people out there who were kind of hoping it wouldn't, who simply wrote off the idea of Seth Rogen as a masked crimefighter in a comedic superhero flick. It's true that he is not exactly the heroic type, but over the past year the project was beginning to show signs of hope and if you ask me, Rogen is the one who ended up with the last laugh here. Not only is The Green Hornet a decent flick, but it's actually much better than it has any right being.

Superheroes are swarming into cinemas this year.
The first one out of Hollywood's hive of industry is The Green Hornet, which hits the big screen today with comedy actor Seth Rogen starring as the masked crimefighter.
It will be followed in the summer by Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, X-Men: First Class and Green Lantern.
Also on the way are the less-familiar comic book adaptations Priest and Cowboys & Aliens and there are new films this year for The Smurfs, Conan the Barbarian and Transformers, all of which have featured in comics.
A full calendar counting down the release dates is included below.
The Green Hornet aims to avoid the crowded summer with its early arrival - and it's cashing in on the latest craze by being in eye-popping 3D.
Studio executives at Sony have also given their Hornet an added sting in the form of Oscar-winning writer-director Michel Gondry.

The Green Hornet is a disjointed jumble of gag laughs, goofy stunts, and bizzare casting. Director Michel Gondry, known for more artsy faire (Be Kind Rewind, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), has tremendous skill as a director; but is unfortunately out of place here. His style choices for this film, especially the action scenes, are not fluid and adds to an overall clunky feeling. I can’t help but think a more mainstream director would have been better suited to make this kind of movie. The Green Hornet is actually a remake of a forties serial which was adapted again into a classic sixties TV series. The TV show was short lived, but introduced the world to one of the baddest ass mofo’s in cinema history – Bruce Lee. I seriously doubt this version of The Green Hornet will turn Jay Chou into a star, but stranger things have happened…...

Superbad meets Batman is pretty much what you get with The Green Hornet, a film with crappy 3D, stylized action and good irrevrant humor. Seth Rogen performs well as a bumbling, obnoxious rich brat, while no surprise from Christoph Waltz or Jay Chou. If you look at the film as senseless fun you will have nothing but that with this action comedy if you don’t then you will get caught up in the sluggish moments which unfortunately exist all in some dull 3D.
What happens when you take the typical stoner style comedy and combine it with a modernized version of the campy 60s Batman films? You pretty much have Seth Rogen’s attempt at reinventing the classic radio/TV/comics of The Green Hornet. hollywoodnews.com: There is a refreshing quaintness to Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet. In an age where every comic book adaptation and/or superhero adventure story sets out to be the biggest, most explosive, most fx-filled, most fantastical epic ever made, this new adventure (an adaptation of a classic radio serial) keeps the proceedings down to earth. It is, at its core, a character comedy rooted in an unexpected friendship that just happens to have the occasional car chase and action set piece. It brings to mind the 1990s superhero films, in that theoretical dead zone between Batman and X-Men, when the few super hero pictures weren’t afraid to have just a little charm and a touch of knowing panache.

Here is a case of a producer letting down his writer and star, and the producer, writer, and star are all the same guy. That guy would be Seth Rogen, the charming comedian (and creator) of movies like "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express." Rogen the writer's script for "The Green Hornet" is the perfect set-up for Rogen the actor: an ordinary guy with no superpowers or skills decides to fight crime so he's forced to rely on his sidekick Kato to provide him with weapons, gadgets, and muscle. The film is all about the interplay between The Hornet and Kato, their relationship and their rivalry. In other words, this "Hornet" is superhero movie as buddy comedy, catnip for a gifted improviser like Rogen.
Herein lies the problem: in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up" Rogen partnered with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. In "Pineapple Express," he worked with the versatile James Franco.

You would be forgiven for thinking that this film is set to be a flop. Seth Rogen does not seem like the natural choice for a crime fighting vigilante, and his bumbling charm is certainly not an immediate fit for one who is shrewd enough to play up to devious outlaw status.
The choice of director is equally off-the-wall. Michel Gondry, the man behind The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep and Be Kind Rewind is more used to existential conundrums and low-fi special effects than big budget baddie bashing.
But somehow, it works. Britt Reid, the son of newspaper magnate James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), is introduced instantly as the kind of directionless playboy that better fits the Rogen persona. He lives in his father’s shadow, and he loves it. Who wouldn’t? It’s non-stop partying with nothing to worry about.

Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is a yuppy playboy who has ridden on his father’s coat tails all his life, but when James Reid (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, Britt meets an impressive and resourceful company employee, Kato (Jay Chou). Somewhat tenuously they realise that they...

From wiki: "Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), the son of wealthy newspaper publisher James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), is a ne'er do well playboy who inherits a media empire after his father dies. One day, he meets an employee named Kato (Jay Chou), who is more than he appears. After realizing how he and Kato are not using their abilities to the fullest, Britt decides that the two should become crimefighters, taking on the identity of the Green Hornet." "The Green Hornet" arrives in theaters January 14th!

The journey that brought The Green Hornet to the big screen is long and littered with a very varied selection of actors. At various points in the project’s development The Green Hornet was set to be played by George Clooney, Greg Kinnear, Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Whalberg and almost filling the shoes once inhabited by Bruce Lee were Jason Scott Lee, Jet Li and Stephen Chow (who almost directed the film too).
Probably most famously a script by Kevin Smith was turned in and almost filmed but that project also fell apart (perhaps thankfully - the script wasn’t particularly good). Finally though The Green Hornet hits cinemas this week with Michel Gondry in the director’s chair and Seth Rogen and Jay Chou as the costumed crime-fighting duo.

Leaping into the Hollywood spotlight with a band of Inglorious Basterds Christoph Waltz has a lot of momentum coming with him to 2011, which sees his starring in three huge movies.
Playing the husband of Reese Witherspoon, made a cuckold by Robert Pattinson in Water for Elephants, Waltz will also don the red cape of Cardinal Richelieu for Paul W. S. Anderson’s The Three (D) Musketeers and the third film for 2011 sees the man playing another kind of villain for Michel Gondry for The Green Hornet.
In the video below Waltz talks about his character, Chudnofsky, and we’ve seen one of these character focused featurettes recently with Cameron Diaz’s character and there’s plenty to catch up on if this is your first time hearing about the film.

A new "The Green Hornet" featurette has made its way out via Apple to expose Christoph Waltz's Benjamin Chudnofsky, a wicked businessman who is slowly becoming a super villain in the movie but will still look funny sometimes. He wants to get rid of his enemies including The Green Hornet and in some of his actions he is seen as a cold-blooded killer.
Over at another site, Digital Spy, a new clip from "The Green Hornet" is also debuted online. It features heroic duo, Seth Rogen's Britt Reid and Jay Chou's Kato, fighting with a number of guys. Their car, The Black Beauty, once again becomes their ultimate weapon with the bullet-proof glasses.

Hard to believe, but Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet” is opening next week. Remember when this movie had such a hard time getting off the ground and all the controversy surrounding Seth Rogen being cast as the Green Hornet? Well, it’s time to see if it worked or not when the film opens next week on January 14, 2011. Until then, here are seven clips to get you started. Love the Kato Vision clip. The Cameron Diaz in her undies clip ain’t bad, either. Four new foreign language posters have been released for The Green Hornet, the big screen retelling of the cult 1940s film serial starring Seth Rogan, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz and Christoph Waltz. The posters, which feature a less than pastel-coloured palette, feature all four actors in their respective roles and have begun appearing on billboards across Korea. Also thrown into the mix today is a pretty swish-looking French poster which I’m fairly certain we’ve already seen (the matching English-language Green Hornet thumbnail in this article is a dead giveaway for starters).
A few of the FilmShaft folk have now seen the movie and so far without giving too much away, feedback has been positive. What do you think? Is this one of 2011′s releases marked on your calendar? Check out all five posters below and hit us up with a comment:

More posters escape from Michel Gondry’s Green Hornet and while we’ve seen the film we are bound by a strict, and slightly silly, embargo which means we can say nothing about it, and therefore we must hope that these four posters will do in place of an opinion.
These are the Korean posters and while the obligatory orange/blue Photoshop bonanza is prevalent I do like the look of the characters as seen here – expect that the pose they chose for Cameron Diaz is a touch too catalogue model for me (for the full effect check out the Spanish poster), but hey – Christoph Waltz has bendable arms and can repel the full force of an explosion so I’m in.
Perfunctory plottage text follows,

The Green Hornet is getting a lot of positive buzz right now. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've been hearing that it's pretty awesome. A new Featurette and film clip have been released for the movie that you may want to check out.
The new featurette has interviews with co-writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, along with actress Cameron Diaz, and they explain how their movie will be different from your average costumed crusader. Britt Reid is obviously not your typical superhero, he doesn’t have powers, which makes him more like a Batman/Bruce Wayne kind of guy. Kato is definitely more like a superhero with his sweet ass martial arts skills.
This is obviously going to be a more humorous movie, and we also have a little film clip that was released that feature Diaz beating up Green Hornet and Kato.
