Anyone who has ever lost someone will feel Netflix's series Dead to Me so hard. The show - which centers on Christina Applegate's character, Jen, who recently lost her husband in a car crash - seamlessly blends grief with humor for an addicting series that we just can't get enough of. Humor, you ask? About grief? Yes, and it totally works!
Now we finally know Jen's story will continue into a second season, thanks to an official announcement from Netflix. On June 3, the streaming service confirmed the show's return, along with a few other exciting details. Both Applegate and costar Linda Cardellini will be reprising their roles, and creator Liz Feldman will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

Syfy has canceled the post-apocalyptic drama after five seasons.
The news was revealed via Twitter by David Michael Latt, an executive producer of the series.
"Rip #znation. As they say, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Thanks to all the fans for five years of love and support. You're the best. Thanks @Syfy for a great run," he shared.
Fans did not take the news well, but Latt urged them to tune in for Z Nation Season 5 Episode 13 which will now serve as the series finale.

Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys (2014)
Written by: Anna Rasmussen and Delondra Williams
Directed by: James Cullen Bressack
Cast: James Brooks (Michael), Shannen Doherty (Cate), Zack Ward (Will), Christopher Lloyd (Mayor Akerman), Ciara Hanna (Nicole), Yar Koosha (Kyle), Fred Stoller (Rich), Rachel True (Marcy), Jeremy Wade (Lamprey Expert)
I’m a huge “Piranha” fan, and I’ll watch anything (anything that is!) pertaining to lake horror. Hockey masked killers, prehistoric monsters, government altered mutated fish, toxic waste mutated marine life and even zombies, are all enhanced when set at a lake. It’s in a more confined space than the ocean, there’s usually plenty of expendable characters getting their vacation on to up the body count, and it makes one think twice that fresh water is absolutely, positively safe.
“Blood Lake” is an Asylum film that deals with something that is creepy enough as...

After scoring it big with Sharknado, The Asylum spread their wings, moving from Syfy to Animal Planet with Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys, which sees Michael, a fish and wildlife expert, move to a small Michigan town with his wife, Cate (Doherty), after being summoned by the town mayor, Akerman (Lloyd), to help deal with its growing lamprey problem after they slide their way into the city’s sewer system. With their giant-toothed, funnel-like mouths attacking all those in their path, the town’s residents quickly learn that a casual dip in the pool, fishing trip or routine trip to the toilet can turn deadly as the killer lampreys hunt for their next victim(s...

Zombie Night (2013)
Director: John Gulager
Writers: Richard Schenkman, Keith Allan, Delondra Williams
Cast: Anthony Michael Hall (Patrick), Daryl Hannah (Birdy), Alan Ruck (Joseph), Rachel G. Fox (Tracie), Shirley Jones (Nana)
If you’ve read the cast, you might think that it’s 1986 again. It’s not, but Zombie Night could be right at home on a video store shelf represented by one of those weird videocassette boxes with no bottom. What I really love about the Asylum is that they are really comfortable about the films they make. Say what you will, but I’m still convinced that somewhere some brilliant, hyperactive kid is taking all these movies in, and in twenty years, he or she is going to direct some grindhouse and horror masterpieces of their own.
The Asylum’s films could be the muse for the next Tarantino or Rodriguez. You just never know.

*an online screener of this film was provided by The Asylum. Director: John Gulager. Writers: Richard Schenkman, Keith Allan and Delondra Williams. Cast: Anthony Michael Hall, Daryl Hannah, Alan Ruck, Rachel G. Fox, Shirley Jones and Jennifer Taylor. Zombie Night is a made for television film, which was produced by The Asylum. This reviewer is very familiar with The Asylum's work in low budget filmmaking, so one goes into one of their movies with reasonable expectations. And, Zombie Night certainly did not exceed any hopes. This title, while well shot, is developed from a fairly weak screenplay, which is almost plotless. The focus on minor characters does not really help the viewer immerse into the experience, as well. Overall, Zombie Night is a fairly ho hum affair and in a saturated zombie film market, it will soon be reburied. The story for the film can be discussed in just a few lines.

Feast series helmer John Gulager directed a "SyFy original" movie called Zombie Night. A TV spot hit the web for this undead thriller which stars Anthony Michael Hall, Daryl Hannah and...Shirley Jones.
The film airs on SyFy October 26th; you can watch the preview inside.
Written by Keith Allan and Delondra Williams, the synopsis is ridiculous short as it concerns two families trying to survive in a town full of zombies. So there you go. I don't see Clu Gulager in the list of credits - hopefully John found a way to work him into this...

Zombie Night, directed by John Gulager and starring Daryl Hannah, Anthony Michael Hall, Alan Ruck, and Shirley Jones, premieres on Syfy October 26th at 9/8 Central as part of the network's “31 Days of Halloween.” We have a teaser trailer for the film to share.
Gulager, director of the Feast franchise and the ill-fated Piranha 3Dd, pairs with Keith Allan and Delondra Williams, writers of last year’s Asylum-produced Rise of the Zombies and the recent Syfy original Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Gators, for this latest foray into walking dead territory starring a former movie mermaid, a guy who has already dealt with “The Dead Zone,” Ferris Bueller’s best friend, and a 1970’s singing TV mom.
Look for what will most likely be the gorier unrated version on DVD/Blu-ray December 10th from The Asylum - Gaiam.

Nick Lyon, who previously directed the Ving Rhames starring Zombie Apocalypse, returns the the land of the living dead with Rise of the Zombies, another Syfy channel original movie that tells the story of a group of survivors holed up in Alcatraz, well away from the zombie plague. From the very opening of Rise of the Zombies you know that this film is going to be different. First off there is a solid explanation for the existence of the undead – in this case a virus has...

Director:Nick Lyon. Writers: Keith Allan and Delondra Williams. Cast: Mariel Hemingway, Chad Lindberg, LeVar Burton, Heather Hemmens and Danny Trejo. Rise of the Zombies had such a great title, but so little substance. This film aired on the SyFy Network Saturday, October 27th and Rise of the Zombies is big on laughter but light on thrills. This viewer laughed at all of the forced sentimentality and at all of the predictable situations until the film threatened a sequel. Then, this viewer's mood became more serious and angrier. Please do not let this film see a sequel! Director Nick Lyon's (Zombie Apocalypse) latest flesh eating film is just too full of one shot takes, CGI backgrounds and pointless meanderings from the characters to recommend even to fans of the campy. The story, such as it is, follows several survivors of a zombie apocalypse on Alcatraz Island. In San Francisco,...

Tagline: "When the odds are 4 Billion to 4, the only thing to do is...reload!" Director Nick Lyon returns to the zombie horror genre with Rise of the Zombies! Lyon also produced Zombie Apocalypse (2011) for production company The Asylum. Zombie Apocalypse turned out to be a decent film that was action focused and tense. The first trailer for Rise of Zombies appears to be equally tense. In the clip, a group of survivors hold up at the Alcatraz Prison in the wake of an undead pandemic. Their life is peaceful for only so long, however. Soon, the zombies are at their cell doors and they have to evacuate to the mainland or die. Have a look at the exciting clip below. Premiere Date: October 27th (Television, SyFy Network) and January 15th, 2013 (DVD). Director: Nick Lyon. Writers: Keith Allan and Delondra Williams. Cast: Mariel Hemingway, Chad Lindberg, LeVar Burton, Danny Trejo, Ethan Suplee and Heather Hemmens.
