Guitarist Joe Perry has revealed that singer Steven Tyler is doing “100 percent better” after recent health issues, and that Aerosmith are planning to launch a tour in September.
Four months ago, Aerosmith dropped the final two dates of their “Deuces Are Wild” Las Vegas residency due to Tyler’s health. When asked about the singer’s condition in a new interview with Detroit’s Wrif, Perry said his longtime bandmate is on the mend.
“Steven’s doing great,” Perry said. “He’s doing a 100 percent better. He had a lot of physical stuff going on that — finally — he really needed to take some more time off, unfortunately.”
Tyler, who recently denied allegations that he sexually abused a minor in the 1970s, is apparently doing well enough to tour. Perry revealed the band’s fall plans in a separate interview with New York’s 102.3 Wbab when asked if Aerosmith were commemorating...

Redbox is releasing its first-ever “original” title this month: “Benjamin,” an R-rated dark comedy directed by and starring Bob Saget about a family dealing with a teen’s drug addiction.
The DVD-rental kiosk operator is calling Saget’s indie film a “Redbox Original.” What that means: Redbox has rights to an exclusive 90-day window on “Benjamin,” to be available starting April 23, both to rent at its network of U.S. kiosks and to rent or purchase through its Redbox On Demand streaming service.
In “Benjamin,” a family calls an intervention via Facebook for Saget’s on-screen son, Benjamin (Max Burkholder), a 15-year-old they suspect of having a drug habit. It soon becomes clear that those confronting Benjamin’s problems have many problems of their own.
In addition to Saget, the cast of “Benjamin” includes Rob Corddry, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kevin Pollak, Peri Gilpin, Dave Foley, Cheri Oteri, Max Burkholder, Clara Mamet,...

When Paul Davis and Paul Fischer initially set out to expand their 2013 short film “The Body” into a feature, they did so on spec, not knowing Blumhouse was going to set a deal with Hulu for a monthly horror anthology series called “Into the Dark.” Although their story — about a hitman who is lugging the corpse of his latest victim on Halloween — lent itself perfectly to the holiday theme Blumhouse was going for and became “Into the Dark’s” premiere piece, there was one big change they wanted to make in the adaptation.
“The hitman, Wilkes, he got away with it in the short — he got pranked by a couple of guys that you thought were police officers, but were actually two guys dressed for Halloween, and they kind of sent him on his way, the joke’s on him, ha ha ha. But in this one, I said to myself,...

The phenomenon of treating anthology series as collections of films is a fairly recent invention — episodes of “Sherlock” and “Black Mirror” have won the past three best TV movie Emmys, beating out genuine-article made-for-tv movies. It’s easy to be dubious about the treatment of these shows, whose episodes share a united sensibility as well as overarching themes and, in “Sherlock’s” case, characters, as stand-alone pieces of cinema. But with its first installment, debuting Oct. 5 after screening at the Los Angeles Film Festival Sept. 21, Hulu’s new anthology “Into the Dark” comes far closer to looking like a new film franchise than its contemporaries. Indeed, it looks so much like one of executive producer Jason Blum’s horror movies that it fails to captivate as TV.

Hulu has teamed up with Blumhouse Pictures to produce a 12-part holiday horror anthology series called Into the Dark. Today we have a great teaser trailer to share with you that shows some of the horror that awaits. Each episode of the series will be set during a certain holiday and the horror will all begin with Halloween.
Blumhouse founder Jason Blum previously reveled that each episode in the series will be the length of a feature film and each one will be helmed by a different filmmaker along with a different cast. As for the content of the episodes:
The series starts with "The Body," about a hitman who uses social media to make his latest conquest extra special, followed by November’s "Flesh & Blood," which focuses on a teenager with agoraphobia who thinks her dad is a killer. Blum also teased episodes around a pageant winner on...

Even if some of their films haven’t been your cup of tea, none of us can deny the force in the industry that Blumhouse Productions has become. In the past decade or so, they’ve enthralled audiences with new franchises such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Ouija, The Purge and, my personal favorite, Sinister, to name but a few.
But now, they’re aiming to find new ways of keeping us awake at night, this time via the growing digital streaming market. In fact, they’re pairing with the immensely popular platform Hulu for an anthology series known as Into the Dark, which will premiere a new episode every month over the course of a year.
What’s more is that each installment will be feature-length, so expect to be in for a well-rounded viewing experience whenever you tune in. “The Body” will be the first to roll out on...

Hulu has given out series order to the adaptation of “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and a comedy starring Ramy Youssef, the streaming service announced Wednesday.
“Four Weddings and a Funeral,” based on the 1994 British film of the same name, will follow a group of friends as their lives intersect through five events. The limited series is written and executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton, who previously worked together on “The Mindy Project.” Jonathan Prince, Howard Klein, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner will also executive produce.
MGM Television and Universal Television will produce, with MGM serving as the lead studio. MGM currently produces the acclaimed Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” while Universal produced both “The Path” and “The Mindy Project.”

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is here with the gift of a song for all the go-go boys and Instagram thots out there to get that message out there. From the title on down, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” has been built on dealing with expectations. What audiences expect from a show with frequent song breaks, what women expect from the world and each other, what behavior is appropriate in the wake of trauma. And it’s managed to do all of this while staying one of the most reliably funny and entertaining shows on TV.
Now as the show approaches its Season 3, the events of Rebecca Bunch’s (Rachel Bloom) past loom larger than ever over her life and everyone caught in her obsessive orbit. Instead of becoming an insular, for-fans-only dive down the rabbit hole of a jilted lover, these new episodes use her story as a jumping-off point for looking at just how far her behavior can go, and to what lengths her friends are willing to go to keep her happy.

When Crazy Ex-Girlfriend returns for season three on Friday, there will be a lot more revenge -- but also a whole lot more Scott Michael Foster.
The 32-year-old actor was bumped up to a series regular this season, which means we'll be seeing more of what makes his character, Nathaniel Plimpton III, tick and even unravel. In the season premiere, we see a softer side right out of the gate, as Nathaniel finds excuses to see more of Rebecca Bunch, who is laser-focused not on her boss, but on getting revenge against Josh Chan, who left her at the altar in last season's finale. Nathaniel's icy exterior and narcissistic tendencies aren't disappearing entirely, his life will just be getting more complicated -- and set to music.
Et spoke with Foster as filming began on season three, and he was excited about Nathaniel becoming a bigger part of the drama.
"So far, it's definitely been revenge-centered...

Fans were surprised at the beginning of the second season of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” when the show’s peppy theme song switched style, look and lyrics.
Naturally, speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, series co-creators Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna opened up their panel by talking about the first thing audiences will see when the show returns in the fall.
Brosh McKenna explained that “Detention” director Joseph Kahn would be directing the new Season 3 credits sequence. Kahn is also on board to direct Season 3’s fourth episode.
“I would say the new theme song is the most talked-about songwriting process we’ve ever done,” Bloom said.
Apart from that opening, the two co-creators, along with cast members Pete Gardner, Donna Lynne Champlin, Vella Lovell, Gabrielle Ruiz, and David Hull, talked about what fans can expect from Season 3.

This year, there are over 20,000 people who get to select the nominees and winners of the Emmys, and hundreds of shows are vying for their attention. In 2016, we were struck by some of the creativity that studios and networks used in pushing out the word about various shows.
Things seemed more subdued on a street level in 2017, though Emmy campaign expert Rich Licata told IndieWire that the networks did seem plenty active when it came to advertising buys.

“A lot of it unfortunately has turned into white noise,” Licata said, “because there were so many programs and so many networks that I don’t know how a responsible voter can really focus and say, ‘Ok, I’m going to watch all this.'”
Up against nearly impossible odds, there were some shows that were able to stand out, thanks to either completely rejecting the system, redefining...

ABC announced Tuesday that it was tossing its hat in the ring of live TV musical events with “The Wonderful World Of Disney: The Little Mermaid Live!” Other details are sparse, but the enhanced broadcast of the 1989 Disney animated classic has been slotted for an October 3rd airdate.
While it’s a bit surprising that it’s taken this long for the network to take a Disney property (especially one that’s already had a Broadway run) and bring it to TV, it won’t be a full-fledged musical along the lines of the “Grease Live” or “The Sound of Music Live” productions that have popped up on other channels.
There’s also no word on casting for this ABC version of “Little Mermaid” yet. But, given the live-singalong format that they’re looking to adopt, they might veer close to the talent at the front of last year’s Hollywood Bowl production,...

TV shows usually aren’t able to turn a discussion of two seasons of television into a thoroughly enjoyable low-key cabaret night. But that’s precisely what the cast and crew of “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” did on Wednesday at the Television Academy in North Hollywood.
Gathering in front of TV Academy voters for their 2017 For Your Consideration event, the “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” cast performed eight songs from the show’s sophomore season, weaving in a discussion of the various challenges that the latest run of episodes provided for the whole team. In a surprise move (that, in retrospect, is the only way that one of these things should start), writer/co-creator/star Rachel Bloom introduced the evening’s participants via a re-worked version of the show’s song “I Have Friends.”
Though the audience had trouble getting the song’s distinct clapping rhythm in unison, stars Vincent Rodriguez III (Josh Chan), Donna Lynne Champlin...

Since its premiere, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” has had to balance multiple ambitious intentions: to create musical television with original songs, to sell a relative unknown as its star and to stand out from the rest of the genre programming on The CW. Not only did the Emmy-winning series succeed on all fronts, but it also put an intriguing twist on the romantic comedy genre: interpreting the familiar tropes through the lens of mental health.
While our titular protagonist Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) may not be literally insane, her behavior does raise questions of her mental stability. After all, she threw away a mid-six figure salaried job in New York for life in the far more humble West Covina, California, just because her childhood ex Josh Chan (Victor Rodriguez III) lives there. But after a season of increasingly erratic behavior, somehow — through magic perhaps? — she finally ended up with Josh in last year’s finale.
