Sam Fink has grown up. In Single Drunk Female Season 1, she struggled with staying sober and making amends. In Season 2, she's learning it's even harder to remain sober while navigating a new job, a new boyfriend, and moving out on her own.
In many ways, Sam wanted to be normal, but half the time, she knew she was not. She wanted to date someone who didn't have an addiction, but she knew she would still have to attend meetings, something her mom Carol still doesn't understand.
Even though Sam is more in charge of her recovery, she's still an alcoholic, and that's something that mother and daughter finally have to face. It's rough but a beautiful and emotional arc for both.
Both Brit and Felicia decided what they wanted in life, even if it hurt people. Brit went up against her family to finally conquer her dreams. Felicia had someone...

Rising star Garrick Bernard portrays James Chambers on Freeform's Single Drunk Female. James has been sober for two years and is attracted to the show's protagonist, Sam Fink (Sofia Black-d'Elia), but doesn't want to date her until she's one year sober. The two share fantastic chemistry and a natural connection.
Last night in Single Drunk Female's Episode 8, titled" James," James's family learned he struggled with alcoholism, though no one wanted to admit it. James was in total denial until Sam stopped him from making a terrible mistake and urged him to get help.
TV Fanatic chatted with Bernard about James being a functional alcoholic, his relationships with his brother and Sam, and what he loves about the series.
Hi Garrick. Thanks for chatting with me. How do you think James was able to hide his alcoholism from his family for so long?
That is an excellent question. I...

Sam Fink has grown up.
On Single Drunk Female Season 1 Episode 7, Sam's visit to New York triggered terrible memories of her drinking days, and she didn't want to become that person again.
Let's discuss how Sam and James have grown and celebrate those successes.
Skipping the time jump in this episode worked since we saw how Sam coped with visiting New York. Every park bench or parking lot reminded her of her past, but she wasn't sure what.
Sam: We passed a parking lot. Something definitely happened there, but I don’t know what.
James: I get it. I worked at this restaurant in high school. I don’t remember anything about it, just the drinks.

Saint Patrick's Day is one of the biggest drinking days of the year.
It's one of the most challenging days of the year for recovering alcoholics, and Single Drunk Female Season 1 Episode 4 highlighted how both Sam and James struggled with avoiding alcohol throughout the day.
While "Shamrocks and Shenanigans" was an enjoyable episode, it didn't exhibit as much humor as the previous ones. It felt more realistic to what recovering alcoholics go through.
Sam had forgotten it was Saint Patrick's Day until Mindy pointed out all the green bakery treats.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day or as I call it, the purge for sober people.

For once, Sam tried to listen to Olivia's advice and avoid bars and drinking since she was now 62 days sober. Unfortunately, she realized there was drinking everywhere.

Staying sober while surrounded by others who drink is no easy feat, and Single Drunk Female’s central character learned that firsthand in Thursday’s double-episode premiere.
The Freeform comedy follows Sam Fink (played by Sofia Black-d’Elia), a twentysomething alcoholic whose embarrassingly public breakdown within the series’ first few minutes marked a new low. She was fired from her job for showing up drunk, was sentenced to rehab and community service after accidentally hitting her former boss in the eye with a phone, and moved back in with her overbearing mother Carol (Ally Sheedy).
