Exclusive: Producer Amy Williams has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Waheed AlQawasmi, the writer and director of upcoming indie feature Jacir, starring Lorraine Bracco.
The suit also names WAFilms, the production company behind the film. AlQawasmi has hit back, describing the complaint as “without merit”.
In the complaint, filed in the Chancery Court for Shelby County, Tennessee, producer Williams claims that AlQawasmi wrongfully removed her name from the film as its lead producer and has failed to pay her the promised compensation for her work on the project. According to the filing, Williams says AlQawasmi approached her in 2016 to help produce the film originally titled My Friend Jacir.
The suit claims that Williams procured funding and cast members for the movie, including Bracco, who stars in the film’s lead role. The film completed production in December 2020, at which point the suit claims that AlQawasmi “manufactured” a contract...

Doctor Who: First Christmas Special Image Released
Steven Moffat promised us that the Doctor Who Christmas special will be "Christmassy as hell," but as it turns out, that's not the only similarity the special will have with the underworld: there will also be flames. The BBC has released the first official promo image from the special, though they're not exactly sure what it's about themselves.
"The first image from this year's Christmas Special has been released - a spectacular shot of the Doctor racing through some kind of passageway whilst pointing what appears to be his sonic screwdriver," their website says. How delightfully vague.
The World War II-set Christmas special will star Matt Smith as the Doctor, though it's currently unknown whether regular companions Rory and Amy Williams will return (odds are 50/50 at this point).
Few details about the special have been released -- characteristically for the series --...

Cheryl Cole has been voted the Most Inspirational Woman of the Decade.
The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer – who has been focusing on her solo career since she separated from her soccer star spouse Ashley Cole last month following claims he cheated on her several times – was named as the celebrity female who has made the biggest impression on other women. The 26-year-old pop star was given the honour for both her “beauty” and “success” – with 29 per cent of her fans praising her looks and 51 per cent in awe of her career. A survey taken out on the cosmetic treatment review website, www.goodsurgeonguide.co.uk asked over 1,100 British women their views on a number of the world’s biggest celebrities. Actress Dame Helen Mirren polled second, chat show host Oprah Winfrey was placed third and Jennifer Aniston came fourth while Britain’s Queen Elizabeth was surprisingly named the sixth most inspirational woman.
