“My Missing Valentine,” a fantasy comedy drama directed by Chen Yu-hsun, won the top prize at the 57th edition of Golden Horse Awards. It collected four further prizes, including best director and best screenplay on Saturday at an in-person ceremony in Taipei.
Best actress and best supporting actress awards both went to the 81-year-old veteran Chen Shu-fang for her performances in “Little Big Women” and “Dear Tenant” respectively. The emotional Chen said this was her first time walking the red carpet to attend the awards ceremony and she had not expected to go on stage twice in one night.
Chen’s “Dear Tenant” co-star Mo Tzu-yi won his first Golden Horse best actor for his performance in the unusual family drama, in which he plays a character looking after the relatives of his deceased boyfriend.

Bulgarian-Kazakh production “Bullets of Justice” sashays its way to the silver screen with guns a-blazing. Cast as one of four films for the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival’s (Bifan) “Forbidden Zone” — a segment dedicated to Bifan’s most extreme genre films — “Bullets of Justice” crosses every “forbidden” threshold imaginable. Set with a post-apocalyptic landscape where pig-based superhumans and normies are war with each other, “Bullets of Justice” compiles time travel, Cold War tensions, and crude sexual humor into one hell of a movie.
The story starts with “Army Bacon” — the Nazi “Ubermensch” dream realized, only in the form of hog hybrids (nicknamed “Muzzles”) with a taste for human flesh. As Army Bacon enslaves and fattens their human creators in America, the rogue human-humans have built a resistance front in post-Soviet lands. Within the resistance, one angst-driven hero stands out amongst the rest: Rob (Timur Turisbekov). Muscular, angsty, and of...

So, by my count, the indefatigable Dwayne Johnson is essentially booked straight through to the year 2025, or thereabouts – and he’s still adding projects to his mighty slate. With starring roles announced on what seems to be a weekly basis, the actor is also working to expand his presence behind the camera – and the newly planned Son Of Shaolin will fall into that category, with Dwayne Johnson on board as producer.
The film will be based upon the yet-to-be-published graphic novel of the same name, written by Jay Longino. Since this source material has not yet hit the stands, plot details are scarce. But, as per Deadline, it will tell “a contemporary Kung-Fu story that intertwines Shaolin mythology with many of the current issues faced by teens growing up in gentrifying neighbourhoods.” Author Longino will also write the script, but the director’s chair apparently remains vacant at this time.

New Mortal Instruments movie delivered lots of great action, drama & more. Screen Gems (Sony) released their new action flick, "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out,and thought it was ok. It offered a lot of great action scenes and cool special effects, along with a ton of drama. However, there were parts that were quite slow and boring. And the storyline was a bit hard to follow to say the very least. It stars: Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Lena Headey, Kevin Durand, Aidan Turner, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao, Cch Pounder, Jared Harris, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The new flick is apparently based on a worldwide best-selling book series, and revolved around character,Clary Fray (Lily Collins}, who is a seemingly ordinary teenager in New York City. School's back in session for half of the country, but there's one more big offering for the teens this late August: "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." Based on author Cassandra Clare's extremely popular book series, the story follows Clary Fray (Lily Collins), a New York City teenager, who on the eve of her Sixteenth birthday discovers some unbelievable things, like the fact that her mother (Lena Headey) -- who has been abducted -- is really a former Shadowhunter, a covert group of demon slayers who've pledged to protect the world from creatures of darkness. On the bright side, there's a hunky blond Shadowhunter named Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower) who offers to help Clary navigate the supernatural world hidden around the city in order to find her mom.
Here are five issues to consider when deciding if "City of Bones" is a good fit for your family.
1. How sensitive is your kid to violence?...

If you haven’t yet read Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices books, you might be wondering why Magnus Bane, a minor character in City of Bones (in theaters Wednesday), has a massive online following and was the runner up in our 25 Best Supernatural Characters of 2012 list (above all those vampires!). We thought we’d give you a little primer on the gorgeous warlock, played by Taiwanese-Canadian model Godfrey Gao. Here are some reasons why we love him, anyway:

1. Those eyes. The offspring of a human and a demon, Magnus would typically have some kind of icky demon mark, like green skin. But he lucked out and instead has cat pupils, which are pretty sexy in a goth way.
2. He’s a party animal. We meet him in City of Bones as he’s throwing a wild party in his Brooklyn apartment. When he appears...

[Alert! Alert! Spoilers ahead!]
There’s a pretty huge twist at the end of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. (Yes, people who have read the books, that thing.) When watching the movie, I noticed that while the story was the same as in the book, the characters’ reaction to the twist was different — more nuanced and emotional, if you will. Turns out stars Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower had a hand in making that change, quite literally. They rewrote it.
“We rewrote the ending. I’m serious,” Bower told VH1 News. Tmi author Cassandra Clare confirmed this account. When initial filming had wrapped and they saw the scenes in order, Clare said they felt it lacked “emotional closure” for the characters of Jace and Clary. “It pretty much just ended with Valentine telling them this very terrible lie and then we see what’s going on with Clary’s mom and then it just kind of goes.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones hasn’t even hit theatres yet (it arrives on August 21st) but the studio, Constantin, is already moving ahead with the sequel, The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes. In fact, not only are they moving ahead with it, but they’re hoping to cast actress Sigourney Weaver in a meaty role.
The role in question is that of the Inquisitor, “the ruthless leader of the Shadowhunters.” If she signs on, she’ll join a cast of relatively unknown names (Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan and Godfrey Gao). Although, there is some decent talent to be found in the supporting cast (Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jared Harris and Lena Headey).
Honestly, I’m not too excited about The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Given the recent track record of Ya novel adaptations, films like Beautiful Creatures and The Host, I don’t see much...

All weekend, we’ve been seeing some of the most beautiful stars of the big and small screens walk among the little people at the San Diego Convention Center. But now it’s time to take our Comic-Con coverage back to its roots: the fans. Let’s be serious: the attendees at this convention come in all shapes and sizes — that’s what makes it wonderful. But here we’re just gonna give a little nod to the ones that bared their chests and midriffs in the icily air-conditioned halls for the greater good.
There were plenty of Wonder Women, Daenerys Targaryens and Wolverines, as usual. But there were many more that we won’t even dare try to name, so how about you flip through the gallery above and tell us who these men and women are paying homage to.
And here are all the famous people we geeked...

It’s hard to imagine beautiful people being shy and nervous about anything, but The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is Taiwanese-Canadian model Godfrey Gao‘s first ever acting gig in English — and he has the pressure of playing one of your most beloved supernatural characters of 2012, warlock Magnus Bane. When VH1 caught up with him at Comic-Con this weekend, he told us how his castmates put him at ease.
“I want to say Kevin [Zegers],” he said, when we asked him who he bonded with the most. That would be most logical, since Kevin’s demon-fighting teen and Gao’s powerful warlock eventually end up dating in the franchise. But on his first day in Toronto, he arrived to a pitch black studio filled with demon monsters, “and all of a sudden I hear a little girl’s voice come from somewhere, saying, ‘Hey, Godfrey! Evan Dickson caught up with director Harald Zwart who dropped some interesting news on us regarding his latest film, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Read on for details.
"The first monster you meet in the movie, I was inspired by ‘The Thing’, which I think is a great movie," says Zwart. "One of the scariest movies I ever saw and I loved every second of it. I just loved the idea of demons taking possession of other creatures and when they surface, the living creature is just a host. The body is cracked to pieces and wrongly reassembled. I used that as a hook to the creature design here. I liked the idea of a demon as something you haven’t seen before. I watched ‘The Exorcist’ a lot of times for this as well, I wanted to have some of that feel. You can feel the actor [at work] there.
