Ted Field’s Radar Pictures, best known for the “Jumanji” and “The Chronicles of Riddick” franchises, has teamed with James Leon’s 8th Gear Entertainment to produce action-thriller “Breakneck,” centering on a female driver who moves between the worlds of getaway driving and Formula E racing.
The project is eyed as a franchise-starter in the vein of “Fast & Furious,” and is being made in partnership with Fia Abb Formula E, electric racing’s championship organizer. Jim Byrkit (“Coherence”) will direct from a script by Nick Kocher (“Saturday Night Live”).
“Breakneck” chronicles the story of a racer, who — despite growing up as a poor orphan — climbs the Formula E ranks only to have her first ePrix race end terribly, and in her removal from the sport. To make ends meet, she becomes a getaway driver for a gang in Miami, still reminiscing of her days as a Formula E driver.

“This movie’s going to make the world forget about all their problems.”
The only question: Which movie?
Judd Apatow co-writes, directs, and produces upcoming Netflix comedy “The Bubble,” about the makings of a fictional movie in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. While “The Bubble” will be available to stream April 1, the faux film at the center of its plot, “Cliff Beasts 6: Battle for Everest: Memories of a Requiem,” alas will never hit theaters…especially if its director, played by Fred Armisen, can’t deliver a satisfying cut to the studio executive (Kate McKinnon).
“The Bubble” centers on the behind-the-scenes drama of making the sixth installment in the “Cliff Beasts” universe, the “23rd largest dino franchise ever.”

"This movie is going to make the world forget about all their problems." Netflix has revealed the full-length official trailer for The Bubble, the latest Judd Apatow comedy creation landing on Netflix starting on April Fool's Day next month. The movie is about a cast & crew making a movie that get stuck in a "pandemic bubble" in a hotel during the middle of production. Throughout this past week, Netflix has been teasing the movie that is being made - a dumb sequel called Cliff Beasts 6: The Battle For Everest, a ridiculously cheesy Hollywood blockbuster about, uh, flying dinosaurs. The cast features Pedro Pascal, Karen Gillan, Leslie Mann, Iris Apatow, David Duchovny, Keegan-Michael Key, and Guz Khan. The rest of the stars of The Bubble include Fred Armisen as the film's director, Maria Bakalova, Peter Serafinowicz, Rob Delaney, Galen Hopper, Samson Kayo, Vir Das, Nick Kocher, and Ross Lee. This looks hilarious.

Weird Al Yankovic is one wild, crazy and fun entertainer. He's best known for his silly parody music but has also dabbled in film and TV over the course of his career. Now, he's going to play in the world of virtual reality.

‘Weird Al’ Yankovic is making his virtual reality (Vr) debut in a new comedic short film called “Shady Friend” that is being produced exclusively for the Positron Voyager Vr motion chair and that sounds even trippier than most of Yankovic’s vast catalog of oddball hits.
Case in point: The resulting short film will include not only motion, but also scents and haptic elements — which should make for an interesting experience, given the topic. “Shady Friend” is all about a heartbroken hero who accidentally takes some psychedelic drugs his less-than reputable buddy has brought over to his apartment.
Principal photography for “Shady Friend,” which also stars former SNL writer Nick Kocher, Nick Rutherford (“Brigsby Bear”) and Minka Kelly has concluded, but there’s no word on a release date yet.

On Saturday, a Saturday Night Live writer Nick Kocher announced on Twitter that he accidentally grabbed the wrong tuxedo on his way to the Emmys —and he made a desperate plea to the internet to help him get his tux back.
“So I flew to Los Angeles yesterday and I grabbed my garment bag,” Kocher gloomily said in a video he posted on Twitter captioned “What Did I Do?”
“And it turns out it wasn’t my garment bag and now I have somebody else’s tuxedo and they have mine,” he continued.
“Kill me,” he added.

When any major crossover event published by the Big Two launches, tie-in books inevitably follow. With Secret Empire being no exception, three one-shots are set to drop this spring/summer – Uprising, United and Underground – each of which will explore how different corners of the Marvel Universe stand up to the forces of Hydra. It takes a certain set of balls to let Chumbawamba lyrics introduce your film (“Tubthumping,” of course), but Balls Out isn’t just Any movie. Andrew Disney’s underdog sports comedy is far from conventional, and while it begins like every other “road to athletic redemption” story, a constant mockery of the sports genre rulebook turns this pee-wee effort into a Jv superstar. It’s not exactly a Tom-Brady-caliber showstopper, but more a Ryan-Howard-like slugger that belts a home run whenever jokes connect. Just expect some mighty whiffs to accompany those gut-busting dingers. Honestly, though, who cares – chicks dig the long ball, and in that respect, Disney earns plenty of fans.
The story of Balls Out follows a rag-tag intramural football team, the Panthers, and their path to redemption after disbanding during their freshman year. Even though they were crowned league champions, a crippling injury puts Grant (Nick Kocher) in a wheelchair,...

Can there be anything funnier than seeing Clint Howard make fun of your “yutes” word choice? Well save of course for the obvious My Cousin Vinny judge, I think not.
But that’s not why I gathered you here today. Bradley Jackson’s brilliantly bored mind is why we’re here.
Intramural is a sports comedy written by Jackson in his sophomore year of college about a boy named Caleb (played by Jake Lacey) who is a fifth year college senior in denial about life after school. In his efforts to relive his college career as freshman intramural football champion, he tries to reunite the team, even after his friend Grant Rosenfalis (Nick Kocher) became paralyzed since the last time they played.
Andrew Disney directs this comedy, which stars Lacey and Kocher in addition to Nikki Reed, Nick Rutherford, Gabriel Luna, Brian McElhaney and SNL members Kate McKinnon, Beck Bennett and Jay Pharoah.

Comedy Central is searching for the next great TV series it can adapt from the web, and that search has brought it to BriTANick. The Viacom-owned cable network has ordered a pilot from Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, who will attempt to adapt their sketch comedy personae for TV. Kocher and McElhaney began making videos in 2008, and their BriTANick channel has since racked up millions of views across YouTube, CollegeHumor, and Cracked. While the BriTANick channel has been quiet over the past year, Kocher and McElhaney have kept their comedy bromance alive. They're regular live performers and were recently nominated for an American Comedy Award. In their TV pilot, Kocher and McElhaney will play a pair of friends who go on madcap adventures together. The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the deal, also provided a plot summary of the pilot: "Nick fakes his own death to get out of a...

Normally I would not pay much attention to a movie about college guys bonding over sports, especially football. We get more than enough football here in Texas if you are not a fan. But Intramural lured me in -- shot in Austin; directed by Andrew Disney, who showed a nice touch with humor in his previous film Searching for Sonny; written by Bradley Jackson (The Man Who Never Cried). In fact, Jackson pretty much convinced Disney to direct Intramural during Hill Country Film Festival 2012 (after meeting him at Austin Film Festival -- this is why filmmakers should go to film fests), so it felt like a can't-miss as the Hcff closing-night film.
It turns out that Intramural is pretty damn funny, even for middle-age women who don't subscribe to the Texas Cult of Football. The plot is fairly standard -- a bunch of fifth-year college seniors (apparently this is a...

Over the weekend at the Apple store in SoHo, Indiewire's Nigel M. Smith spoke with the funny guys behind "Intramural," a sports comedy film playing at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival. The conversation is part of the "Meet the Filmmaker Series," for this year's Tribeca films. The fifth time is the charm for Caleb Fuller (Jake Lacy) who is finally about to graduate high school. Before he does, though, he tries to reassemble his old football team. Directed by Andrew Disney, "Intramural" also stars Nikki Reed, Kate McKinnon, Beck Bennett and Nick Kocher. Smith got the opportunity to sit down with Disney, along with writer Bradley Jackson and actors Lacy, Kocher, and McElhaney. In the follow clips we see McElhaney explain how he received offset injury. "I broke my toe," McElhaney admitted. "I was playing a drinking game offset." We also see an audience member ask Lacy what it was like...

Over the course of cinematic history, sports movies have developed into their own genre, with films such as Hoosiers and Bull Durham standing out from the field. However, there have been few parodies of the genre, with most of the comedy in such films coming from the situation that the characters find themselves in. This is the area that a new comedy, titled Intramural, aims for. Directed by Andrew Disney, working from a screenplay by Bradley Jackson, the film stars Kate McKinnon, Jay Pharoah, Beck Bennett, D.C. Pierson, Nick Kocher, Brian McElhaney, and Nikki Reed, and the first trailer has now been released. The trailer can be seen below.

A long time ago, Ted began telling the story not only of how he met the mother of his children, but of how he became the man he had to be in order to meet her. Most of this nine-year journey we’ve been on has been more about Ted’s emotional journey than about the inevitable meet up with the Mother. Today, as “Sunrise” played, I felt like we had finally gotten to the conclusion of that plotline. Ted has finally become the man who is ready to meet the true love of his life and now we can start moving toward that long awaited moment
There’s something incredibly noble in Ted’s character. For all his flaws, he is a true romantic and, despite what some may say about him, he’s not crazy. He’s just a man in love and he would do anything to...

Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing garnered the attention of many Whedonverse fans with its cast of frequent Joss collaborators, including Nathan Fillion, Clark Gregg and Amy Acker. But there are also a few less familiar faces in the cast of the Shakespeare play adaptation, including Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher of New York-based comedy duo BriTANicK. The two first-time entrants to the Whedonverse talked to EW about getting cast, their experience making and promoting the film, and catching Whedon’s attention with their YouTube videos.

WonderCon 2013 began its final day this morning with a panel celebrating Joss Whedon's indie Shakespeare adaptation Much Ado About Nothing , which is set to hit theaters June 7 from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. Joining Whedon himself on the stage were stars Riki Lindhome, Tom Lenk, Spencer Treat Clark, Sean Maher, Nick Kocher, Clark Gregg, Jillian Morgese, Romy Rosemont and Brian McElhaney, along with cinematographer Jay Hunter. Two key scenes from the production were shown, beginning with the play's Act II, Scene III in Leonato's (Clark Gregg) orchard. The characters are discussing Beatrice's (Amy Acker) wedding plans, but noting that she's secretly in love with Benedick (Alexis Denisof). Benedick, meanwhile, is hiding in the bushes just outside the window and listening in...

Been to your high school reunion lately? I haven't. I was there for my fifth but, for the tenth and the fifteenth, I politely declined. Shadowlocked had the awesome, geeky privilege of talking to actor Fran Kranz (Dollhouse, Cabin in the Woods, Much Ado About Nothing) today, and among other things, he said that:
“I think Much Ado is coming out sometime early summer 2013.”
Of course, he didn’t say it as any kind of definite thing, and plans can always change, but this gives us some idea of whenabouts the release date should be. Given that a year ago, we didn’t even know that the film existed, waiting another 7 or 8 months seems acceptable. Especially since it was seven years between Joss Whedon’s feature directorial debut Serenity and his sophomore effort The Avengers, and now it seems it’ll only be about a year between his second and third films as director. Not to mention that Cabin in the Woods came out earlier in the year, and is now out on DVD. Though...

In his first feature film, writer/director Andrew Disney craftily churned out Searching for Sonny, which features Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars) as Elliot, a freshly minted 28 year-old who is depressed and down on his luck, after having another lackluster birthday party, he goes through what some may term, a mini existential crisis. A post card from his old high-school best friend who Sonny Bosco, played by Masi Oka (Heroes) has him leave town for his ten-year high school reunion, while there, he sees and reconsiders his past muse, Eden, played by Minka Kelly. We also meet actors Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, perhaps better known from their Internet fame as the comedy duo of BriTANicK, playing the roles of Gary, a more accessible Kip (Napoleon Dynamite), and Calvin, a “self-proclaimed badass”, Elliot’s brother.

Welcome back to This Week In Discs! As always, if you see something you like, click on the image to buy it. Searching for Sonny Elliot reluctantly heads home for his ten-year high school reunion, but instead of the expected disappointments he discovers a missing friend, a murder and a mystery. Writer/director Andrew Disney’s feature debut is an indie rarity in that it’s as funny as any big screen comedy. The laughs come in part due to Disney’s sharp and witty script, but credit should also go to the main cast of Jason Dohring, Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney. The trio has a smooth and perfectly timed chemistry together, and they help make the film a joy to watch. The lovely Minka Kelly helps in that department as well. The Texas-produced feature film Searching For Sonny is on tour around Texas this month as part of the Texas Independent Film Network's Fall 2012 program. It returns to Austin after having its world premiere at Austin Film Festival 2011. All this week we’ve had interviews from SXSW with the cast and directors of The Cabin in the Woods and we finish off our coverage with an interview with Fran Kranz who plays ‘stoner with a brain of gold’ Marty in Drew Goddard’s film.

Here the actor talks about overturning conventions, the secrets of The Cabin in the Woods and moments when the film goes over the edge. There are Spoilers but all are clearly marked.

Dennis Miller is hoping his second run on ABC goes better than his first.
The actor/talk show host/comedian is on his way back to the network that hired him years ago as an analyst for Monday Night Football. This time, though, instead of calling the action, he'll be right in middle of it.
Miller will play Nelson Burke on Awesometime, an upcoming sitcom starring Ben Rappaport (Outsourced) as a character who moves in with his co-worker (portrayed by Nick Kocher) and his roommate (James Earl III) after he catches his wife cheating.
Burke is the boss at Rappaport's architecture company, a man who - as described in ABC casting notes - "has never smiled."
Miller appeared in an episode of Hawaii Five-0.
