Elka Kerkhofs is an award winning Independent Belgian/Australian
writer, director, animator and visual artist. She completed her Masters
in Animation at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne,
Australia, with her films Filled With Water and Lash, which have
screened at over 100 film festivals throughout the world and have been
nominated and won over ten awards including 2008 Best VCA Graduation
Film with Lash and an EnhanceTV ATOM Award with Filled With Water in
2007. Lash was short listed for an Amazon Customer Award at the Short
Film Corner in Cannes in 2009 and both films were finalists at the
Melbourne and Sydney Queer Film Festivals, both winning an award in
each respective competition. Her new latest film 'The confession of
Father John Thomas' (2011) has already received awards and screened at
Annecy International Film Festival.
Elka loves pushing the genre boundaries with her thought provoking films. From drama to humour stimulating peoples emotions, drawing people in the visually poetic landscapes coupled with philosophical storytelling, her films create a buzz at film festivals all over the world.
