“I didn’t realize that there was a 3:30 also in the morning — until today,” said Kwwl-tv sports reporter Mark Woodley doing a live remote in the middle of a blizzard for the channel’s morning show.
Woodley was drafted onto the weather team when the storm hit, and he was unusually candid with his feelings about the assignment.
“I normally do sports, but everything here is canceled [because of the weather],” said Woodley. “So what better time to ask the sports guy to come in about five hours earlier than he would normally wake up and go stand out in the wind and the snow and the cold and tell other people not to do the same?”
Then, in one of his signoffs: “Tune in for the next couple hours to watch me progressively get crankier and crankier.”

ESPN shocked the basketball world late Wednesday night when its Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka was likely to face a lengthy suspension for having an intimate relationship with another team employee. The Athletic similarly confirmed that the affair was completely consensual, but because it involved a subordinate, it was a violation of the Celtics’ organizational policies and could likely result in a season-long suspension.
The story, which broke during the middle of the week when there is often a lull in the football news that’s the cabler’s greatest source of interest this time of year, dominated ESPN’s Thursday morning news coverage.
Still, many felt like the coverage of Udoka’s personal life has been excessive, especially considering the other, arguably larger stories of ethical lapses currently being discussed in the sports world. Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre...

Rudy Giuliani was finally revealed on “The Masked Singer” this week and, as was first reported back in February, judge Ken Jeong did in fact walk off the stage. And now, seeing how things actually went down, viewers are praising the move.
The former New York City mayor-turned-Trump lawyer was unmasked as the Jack in the Box, and became the first contestant eliminated from Round 3 of the competition after a rendition of George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone.”

The former New York City mayor-turned-Trump lawyer was unmasked as the Jack in the Box, and became the first contestant eliminated from Round 3 of the competition after a rendition of George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone.”
Jeong appeared absolutely stunned when Giuliani’s face was revealed, saying nothing. The judge remained stoic as host Nick Cannon completed his typical unmasking interview, asking Giuliani why he came on the show, considering the controversy surrounding him. When Giuliani officially began his swan song, doing a short reprise of “Bad to the Bone,” Jeong could be seen saying “I’m done,” and calmly walked off stage.

The long awaited, heavily promoted CNN+ debuts on Tuesday, with a lineup of live and on-demand programming and, in the media world, a dose of doubts.
Among them: Rivals already have staked their space in the streaming universe. The subscription streaming service needs more must-have programming to lure customers already satiated in monthly fees. And CNN+ is launching just weeks from the network getting a new parent, with the combination of Discovery and WarnerMedia, along with new leadership, with Chris Licht scheduled to take over as the network’s new leader in May.
Yet Andrew Morse, Executive VP and Chief Digital Officer, who leading CNN+, is insistent that what the service offers will be unlike anything else out there.
“We are not trying to launch just another streaming service,” he said in an interview late last week. “What we are building is the most essential and engaging direct-to-consumer news subscription service.

People who are interested in CNN Plus finally have a date when they can add it to their streaming repertoire. The WarnerMedia-owned cable-news outlet intends to launch the subscription broadband service on March 29.
The detail — perhaps the last piece of information to be disclosed about the new media venue — comes ahead of a presentation CNN executives and anchors will make during the SXSW Festival this weekend. Andrew Morse, CNN’s chief digital officer and the executive overseeing the new ventures, is expected to discuss it on a panel with political correspondent Kasie Hunt, former pro basketball player Rex Chapman, food influencer Alison Roman and journalist Audie Cornish — all of whom joined CNN for new CNN Plus programs.

Former NBA star and social media personality Rex Chapman is the latest media figure to join the growing lineup of hosts at CNN Plus.
Per the WarnerMedia-owned subscription streaming platform, which is set to debut in the first quarter of the year, “Chapman is known for celebrating the highs of college basketball and NBA stardom, rebounding from the lows of opioid addiction and now for his viral social media presence where he shares humor and positivity.”
Chapman’s weekly CNN Plus show isn’t described as a talk show, but rather a program that includes “intimate conversations with athletes, entertainers and everyday heroes as Chapman looks for the silver lining beyond today’s toughest headlines.”
The currently untitled Chapman-hosted show will join the lineup of original series that CNN Plus has set to be available at launch.
Chapman was a basketball legend at the University of Kentucky and a 12-season former NBA star.

Norm Macdonald, the stand-up comic and Saturday Night Live alum who died Tuesday at age 61, was considered a comedian’s comedian, a favorite of late-night hosts like David Letterman and Conan O’Brien where he held court in some of his most memorable moments.
They help make up a nearly matchless collection of Macdonald memories that are being resurfaced today, from his Burt Reynolds impression on Saturday Night Live to his appearance on Comedy Central’s roast of Bob Saget, which became a laboratory for a retro set that left even the roastees befuddled.
Here’s just a sample of Macdonald’s work through the years:

Hollywood is mourning the loss of Ed Asner on Sunday, reflecting on a career that not only left a mark in television and animation but also in the history of Hollywood labor.
In his illustrious career, Asner won seven Emmys, five of them for his iconic performance as Lou Grant on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and the spinoff “Lou Grant.” For younger fans, he was known for playing the voices of Hudson on the Disney cult classic “Gargoyles” and Carl Fredricksen in the Pixar Oscar winner “Up,” as well as Santa Claus in the Will Ferrell comedy “Elf” and other Christmas movies and specials.
But along with this, Asner served as president of the Screen Actors Guild during its pivotal strike in 1980, which led to a dramatic 32% increase in minimum salaries. His outspoken activism as a democratic socialist led to clashes with right-wing actors in Hollywood, including Charlton Heston,...

At his house, Dwyane Wade is well aware of when it's been brought. The star athlete paid tribute to his wife, Gabrielle Union, on Wednesday, Aug 25, the 21st anniversary of one of her most popular movies, Bring It On. Gabrielle played Isis, captain of the Compton cheerleading squad the Clovers, opposite Kirsten Dunst, leader of the Rancho Carne Toros. Fellow retired NBA player Rex Chapman tweeted a clip from the cult comedy film. In it, Isis leads her squad to confront the rival group for stealing their routine. "Oh that's her I mean business walk," Dwyane responded, with laughing emojis. "Every-time I leave the toothpaste cap off." Gabrielle...

Brianna Hamblin, a television news reporter from Rochester, New York’s Spectrum News 1, posted a Twitter video today that showed her being catcalled and abused while on the job.
The incidents prompted a series of supportive responses from others in the news business who have undergone similar harassments.
Hamblin was about to begin a standup on a local healthy meals program for kids this summer. But just before she was ready to begin her report, several male passersby started commenting.
“You look nice, by the way,” said one man, who then walked away. But as Hamblin attempted to resume, another man started in.
“You’re beautiful as hell,” he said to Hamblin.
She tried to turn the uncomfortable moment around, telling him, “Go find a TV and watch Spectrum News.”
But the man continued his comments, making several racially-tinged comments that escalated into a diatribe against white women.

In a new audio clip obtained by The Sun (ugh sorry), Tom Cruise can be heard ripping into around fifty members of the Mission: Impossible 7 crew after he seemingly discovered a few of them breaking Covid-19 safety guidelines.
Cruise is currently filming Mission: Impossible 7 at Warner Bros. studios in Leavesden, which is apparently where the rant took place. The movie has already stalled twice this year due to various issues associated with the ongoing pandemic, and the 58-year-old actor has now reportedly taken it upon himself to personally enforce the rules so that filming can continue without further delays. This has included hiring an old cruise ship to group the crew together in a safety zone at a cost of around $675,000.
A source told the tabloid that before Cruise started yelling “Everyone was wearing masks. It was purely that these people were standing under a metre away from each other.

Tommy Heinsohn, who won 10 NBA titles with the Boston Celtics as a player or coach and went on to a decades-long career as an announcer, died Tuesday in Boston, the club announced. He was 86.
“This is a devastating loss,” the Celtics ownership said in a statement. “Tommy was the ultimate Celtic. For the past 18 years, our ownership group has relied hugely on Tommy’s advice and insights and have reveled in his hundreds of stories about Red Auerbach, Bill Russell and how the Celtics became a dynasty. He will be remembered forever.”
A popular and respected Beantown legend, Heinsohn won eight titles with the Celtics as a player — including seven in a row from 1959-65 — and two more behind the bench during the 1970s. He is one of only four people inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach.

Sad news broke today, as it was announced that Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90. The actor was one of the biggest movie stars around for generations, stretching from his breakout role as James Bond in 1962’s Dr. No to his final film appearance in 2003’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
After playing 007 six times, that’s obviously the role that’s probably most attached to him, but he’s also fondly remembered for his acclaimed performances in the likes of The Hunt for the Red October, The Rock and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Not to mention he won an Oscar for his turn in The Untouchables.
As his work is beloved by multiple generations, then, the internet is full of tributes to the great man today and here are just a few of Sean Connery’s many fans who are paying their respects on Twitter…...

Amy Heckerling’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High turned out to be one of the most important comedies of the 1980s, and not just because it was the directorial debut of the filmmaker that would go on to helm cult classic Clueless over a decade later. It also marked the first script from Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous‘ Cameron Crowe, the screen debut of unknown actor Nicolas Cage and the maiden lead role of Sean Penn’s career.
The idea of an actor with Penn’s intense persona headlining a comedy seems hard to believe these days, but his performance as Jeff Spicoli saw the character become an endlessly quotable counterculture icon, and it still ranks among the finest work he’s ever done almost 40 years later. A virtual table read was recently held to raise money for Penn’s humanitarian organization, and while he didn’t play Spicoli this time around,...
