Bill McLeod(II)
Bill McLeod was born in 1950 and graduated in 1972 from the University
of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in journalism and American
studies. In 1977, he received his master's degree in journalism and
film studies from the same university. In his early career, he worked
as a regional coordinator for the Rocky Mountain Film Center in Boulder
and later as the director of special markets for Paramount Pictures in
Hollywood. He came to the Bay Area in 1980, as senior vice president
and director of publicity and public relations for Jack Wodell and
Associates. He moved to DDB Needham in 1989 and continued to rise and
take on more responsibility, even as bigger companies swallowed up the
smaller companies he worked for. In 2003, McLeod went to work for
Terry Hines and Associates in San Francisco, where he headed the
company's publicity department. He left at the end of 2005 and became
an independent publicist, working with companies such as Strand
Releasing and the Sundance Channel.
