- Has a son named Devilin MacLean.
- Was the bass player of the popular Canadian rock band Platinum Blonde from 1985-1990.
- Kenny passed away sometime on November 21, 2008 when he collapsed in his bathroom. His death was similar to that of Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain in that nobody found him until 3 days later when Platinum Blonde drummer Chris Steffler said that he couldn't figure out why he couldn't contact Kenny to confirm that he was ready to reunite with the band. Kenny's sister found him and the way that he collapsed suggested that he may have died from a massive heart attack.
- After his death in 2008 his son Devilin finished his 3rd and final solo album Clearly which was released in Januanry 2009.
- During Mark Holmes's acceptance speech into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame he broke down crying for Kenny MacLean who had died 2 years prior.
- He spearheaded the initiative to reunite the classic lineup of Platinum Blonde which included singer Mark Holmes, guitarist and backing vocalist Sergio Galli and drummer Chris Steffler. But those plans were quashed when Kenny was found dead in his recording studio bathroom of a fatal heart attack.
- He arrived in Canada in 1974.
- At the time of his death, media outlets in Canada had begun reporting that Kenny had died of drug overdose but the autopsy reports including toxicology reports state that no drugs were found in Kenny's system. The coroner had ruled that Kenny died of a "heart related issue.".
- His friend and band mate Sergio Galli was reluctant to return to the band after Kenny's demise. Sergio returned to the band after he saw the enthusiasm of his new band mates Rob Laidlaw and Dan Todd.
- Younger brother of Donald "Donnie" MacLean. Older brother of Morag MacLean and Pamela MacLean.
- He won a S.O.C.A.N. award for song writing and was nominated for a Juno, the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy, for Most Promising Male Vocalist.
