Ewan Clark

Ewan Clark is an award-winning film composer and orchestrator. His score for The Turn of the Screw won Best Music in a Feature Film at the Istanbul Film Awards 2020 and Best Original Score at Canada's 4th Annual Terror in the Bay Film Festival. Other feature-length scoring projects include the docudrama Doubt: The Scott Watson Case (TVNZ1). He has scored numerous short films and documentaries, notably The World In Your Window (best fiction short at the Melbourne International Film Festival, co-scored with Rhian Sheehan) and Shmeat, the first of a string of successful collaborations with award-winning director Matasila Freshwater.
As an orchestrator, Ewan has worked on feature films One Thousand Ropes and Beyond the Edge. The former won Best Original Music in a Film at the 2017 APRA Silver Scrolls and the latter was nominated for the same award in 2014. Ewan's compositions and orchestrations have been performed in concert by the Philharmonia Orchestra (London), New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Voices, and most NZ regional orchestras. Ewan has studied composition for screen at the Royal College of Music (MMus, 2012) and The New Zealand School of Music (PhD, 2018). In his spare time, Ewan enjoys performing with groups such as Wellington Chamber Orchestra as a trombonist or conductor.
