Patrick Kaplin is a Canadian Screen Award-nominated cinematographer with 10 years of experience in documentary and narrative film production. His work has been screened at the Montreal World, Vancouver International, Karlovy Vary, Raindance and Toronto International film festivals, as well as major networks such as CBC, PBS, APTN and Canal D.
Patrick was recently honoured with a CSA Academy nomination for cinematography from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television for his work on an international documentary series highlighting the activism and art of 13 different indigenous tattoo artists fighting to preserve their cultures and methods through the art of traditional tattooing.
Patrick has extensive experience filming in hardship conditions internationally; from the -35C tundra of northern Canada to the remote humidity-laden jungles of Indonesia. His passion for cinematography is evident in each project he's brought onto. From lighting to framing, every aspect of his work is meticulously crafted.
