- Georgia-born Buster Brown began his musical career in his early 20s by playing harmonica at local dance clubs, and he made a few recordings in the 1940s. He moved to New York in the 1950s, and was eventually signed by Fire Records. He recorded the song he is best known for, "Fannie Mae", in 1959, when he was almost 50. The song went to #38 in the US Top-40 charts and shot to #1 on the R&B charts. He had a few minor hits after that, including a remake of Louis Jordan's "Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby?" in 1960.
