Season 7 of “Rick and Morty” is the first volume of the Adult Swim animated sitcom, a “Back to the Future” riff tracking the adventures of a mad scientist and his bumbling grandson, not to star co-creator Justin Roiland as the voice of both title characters. The network fired Roiland in January after the actor was charged with domestic violence; though the charges have since been dropped, an NBC News report last month alleged a pattern of inappropriate sexual conduct. In between, the roles of Rick and Morty were recast with soundalikes Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden, a monthslong saga that culminated with the debut of a Roiland-free show on Sunday.
All this behind-the-scenes upheaval might suggest “Rick and Morty” would return a markedly different show. But “How Poopy Got His Poop Back” is almost pointedly normal, collecting various fixtures of the “Rick and Morty” universe — not just Rick and Morty themselves,...

“Rick and Morty” has dropped a Season 7 trailer that features the new voices for the duo originated by creator Justin Roiland.
“Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s Season 7, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? Evil Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less piss than last season. ‘Rick and Morty,’ 100 years! Or at least until season 10!” the official season description states.
Roiland, who has voiced both titular characters since the long-running animated series premiered back in 2013, was charged with felony domestic violence related to an incident that first surfaced in a January 2020 criminal complaint.
Following the news, Adult Swim cut ties with Roiland but noted that the show would continue without his involvement. In February, an individual with knowledge of the matter told TheWrap...

Adult Swim has set the Season 7 premiere of Rick and Morty, setting the show’s return for Sunday, October 15. The series about a sociopathic scientist and his timid grandson continues as they take on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. While the news is sure to excite fans, one question continues to loom large as the show’s replacement for former star and co-creator Justin Roiland has yet to be revealed. (Credit: Adult Swim) No updates on the casting status have been given at this time, but as executive producer Steven Levy reportedly shared at San Diego Comic-Con in July, “We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast, but I do want to say it’s gonna be great. I am thoroughly impressed with everything that’s going on, including all the work on Season 7. Truly, that’s the thing I don’t want to be overshadowed.

The hit Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty will return on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 11 p.m. Et/Pt with all new episodes from Season 7.
Rick and Morty follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. The new season will also be available to stream in 2024.
“It’s happening,” Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen said in a statement. “Thanks to the talent of the entire show team, we can all enjoy 10 new episodes that yet again raise the bar for comedy and animation. This season proves that the geniuses at work on Rick and Morty are just getting started.”
Season 7 will be the first without co-creator and star Justin Roiland, who is no longer in business with Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of Adult Swim, following allegations of domestic abuse. Said charges were dropped in January due to insufficient evidence.

Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty team is soldiering ahead with the animated show’s seventh season, finding “sound-alikes” to replace co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland. “We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast, but I do want to say it’s gonna be great,” executive producer Steven Levy said on Friday, July 21, at a San Diego Comic-Con panel for the show, per Variety. “I am thoroughly impressed with everything that’s going on, including all the work on Season 7. Truly, that’s the thing I don’t want to be overshadowed. The show is as good as it’s ever been.” Adult Swim Responding to a question from the audience, Levy reassured fans that Rick and Morty’s titular characters — a mad scientist and his timid grandson, both heretofore voiced by Roiland — would still sound the same. “It’s sound-alikes,” he said. “The characters are the same characters.

"Rick & Morty" will not be going the "Solar Opposites" route in its recast of Justin Roiland; at San Diego Comic-Con today, executive producer Steven Levy assured fans that the roles previously filled by the series co-creator and star will now be played by other actors who are "sound-alikes" (per Variety). The actors in question haven't been announced yet, but Levy also says the team is nearly done figuring out who will take on the role of mad scientist Rick and his teenage grandson Morty. "We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast, but I do want to say it's gonna be great," he told the assembled crowd at today's panel.

Years ago, “Rick and Morty” co-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon could fill every seat at their San Diego Comic-Con panels with eager fans hungry for any tiny detail about the animated series with a cult-like following. While this year’s panel in the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom was once again packed, there was an air of uncertainty regarding the series’ future as the panelists were hesitant to give many (if any) details on what’s next for their space odyssey.
In January of 2023, Adult Swim terminated their relationship with Roiland, who also voiced the titular characters, after he was charged with domestic violence. “Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland,” the network said in a statement. Hulu also dropped him from “Solar Opposites,” which he co-created, and “Koala Man.” The charges against Roiland were dismissed in March.

Exclusive: Warner Bros. Discovery is looking to take Puppy Bowl to another level as a live television event by simulcasting it across linear networks and streaming platforms from both sides of the merged company.
In its first post-merger edition, Puppy Bowl will run on its home network, Animal Planet, where it has been a staple for 19 years, as well as on TBS, the unscripted-leaning brand of the TNets, Discovery Channel as well as soon-to-be-combined Discovery+ and HBO Max.
Last year, Puppy Bowl Xviii streamed on Discovery+ in addition to its Animal Planet run; the event’s footprint has been vastly expanded this year by adding networks, TBS and Discovery, as well as a streamer, HBO Max, with wider reach.
“The puppies are taking over, and the epic battle between Ruff and Fluff is now too big for one network,” the promo for the simulcast says. (You can watch it above.
