Oliver O. Mbamara started writing and acting while pursuing a legal career in Nigeria before moving to USA. He broke into the American theater circles with lead acting role in off-Broadway's PRISONER OF KALAKIRI and by a directing role in WEDLOCK OF THE GODS. In 2003 he penned a screenplay based on his chronicles of the adventures of a typically conflicted African immigrant and it was produced as the ground breaking classic immigrant feature film, THIS AMERICA. He has since written, produced, directed, and/or led in several other feature films including, SLAVE WARRIOR, ON THE RUN AGAIN, LAST ASSIGNMENT, RETURN OF SPADE, and the African Diaspora TV series CULTURES. His latest film, ADOPTED is in post-production. He recently published his AFRICAN TALES UNDER THE MOONLIGHT and is about to publish his cross-cultural supernatural adventure book titled GATES OF TANGLED LEAVES: THE JOURNEY OF MANAGOR. He will soon start seeking production of the story as a supernatural adventure series akin to the GAME OF THRONES saga with stints of the twists seen in the TV series LOST. Oliver is working on his African epic drama titled WAYS OF THE ANCESTORS: A MOONLIGHT TALE, a story in the class of Chinua Achebe's THINGS FALL APART but aimed at sharing how early Africans maintained law and order and practiced true working governance in society without institutional police departments or jail systems.
Oliver continues to practice law and has served for 23 years as a State Admin Judge. During this time, he has been engaged with Nigerian and African organizations including the Nigerian Lawyers Association (USA) where he served up to the position of the Chairman of the Board. He is the President of the Nollywood Producers Guild, USA, through which he is leading the charge among African Artists and Producers blazing the trail, creating opportunities, and building bridges for African artists in film and theater.
