- Joe started out as a stand up comedian in February of 2003. He first took the stage at the world famous Caroline's on Broadway in NYC.

- On September 16, 2009 Joe jokingly paraphrased a quote from Fight Club (1999) as his Facebook status. Within 2 hours Joe was visited by NYPD SWAT and arrested for suspected ties to terror organizations. His story was picked up by This American Life (2007), The Guardian (UK) and NY Metro. In the documentary Terms and Conditions May Apply (2013), Joe talks about this turbulent event.
- When his schedule permits; Joe still performs stand-up and improv comedy at top venues like The Improv, Gotham Comedy Club, Caroline's, The P.I.T and IO West.
- Joe received camera training from Jay Holben (ASC) at Panavision in Hollywood, CA.

- Joe is an expert marksman. While serving with Bravo Company 1/30th (3rd Infantry Division) Joe qualified twice with perfect accuracy, hitting 40 out of 40 targets.

- Earned an MFA in Creative Writing from National University in San Diego, CA.
- After completing the Kumano Kodo (Japan, 2019) and the Camino de Santiago, Del Norte (Spain, 2023) Joe has been officially recognized as a Spiritual Pilgrim by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
