Rick Springfield may have wished he had Jessie’s girl, but Helen Hunt wished she had him!
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Thursday night, the 53-year-old actress opened up about her teenage crush on the music icon — and her failed attempt to start a romance with him.
“He wouldn’t date me but I was madly in love with Rick Springfield,” Hunt confessed.
As she explained, the two were studio lot neighbors while she was a working on the short-lived sitcom It Takes Two and he was breaking hearts as the dreamy Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital.

As a soap fan, I thought General Hospital’s 52nd Anniversary episode deserved some recognition. Today not only paid homage to the stars of the past who started a legacy, it also provided long-awaited answers about what caused the show’s most celebrated and recognizable character to break with reality. So the event which caused Luke Spencer to change so drastically was retold by older sister Patricia Spencer, portrayed by guest star Dee Wallace, and played out in black and white on the screen as Luke’s memories. Today’s episode was unique in several aspects. Firstly, the majority of it was shot in black and white, quite literally transporting fans back 52 years. Jason Thompson, who currently plays Patrick Drake, took on the role of legendary General Hospital doctor Steve Hardy, Elizabeth Webber’s potrayer Rebecca Herbst took on the role of Jessie Brewer, and Ryan Carnes took a break from playing Lucas Jones…...

Rick Springfield Remembers Embarrassing "Do You Know Who I Am?" Moment, Says He "Felt Like an Idiot"
Next time Rick Springfield wants to buy a gun, maybe he should start talking cute instead. And save the receipt. The 65-year-old rock star, best known for the 1981 hit "Jessie's Girl," who also played Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital, recalled in an interview with Oprah Winfrey an embarrassing story that should serve as a lesson to all celebrities: A time he pulled the ol' "Do You Know Who I Am?" card. "It was pathetic," he says in the video, posted online this week as an outtake from an interview that aired during an episode of Winfrey's Own show Where Are They Now? in February. "It was in Vegas, I was doing the big show at MGM Grand. You know, my...

New York — Creative writing was Rick Springfield's first love, and he's returning to it with his debut novel.
A Tuesday news release says the musician-actor will release "Magnificent Vibration" in May 2014 on the Simon & Schuster imprint Touchstone.
Springfield is best known as the multi-platinum "Jessie's Girl" singer and "General Hospital" star, but his memoir "Late, Late at Night" was a surprise New York Times best-seller. He said in the statement the experience "reminded me how much I love the craft."
Springfield's novel is about a tough-times protagonist who receives a 1-800 phone connection with God through a self-help book. The book comes during a busy period for the musician. He recently participated in Dave Grohl's "Sound City" documentary and album and appeared on "Californication" and "Hawaii Five-o."

All that's missing are the mullets. A trip to the General Hospital soundstage these days feels like an express pass to the 1980s, especially during the filming of the big fan-fave event known as the Nurses Ball. The red-carpet soiree — airing April 5, 8 and 9 as part of the soap's 50th anniversary celebration — has Rick Springfield returning as Dr. Noah Drake, who will take to the stage and rock out "Jessie's Girl." Off on the sidelines, Frisco (Jack Wagner) is trying to woo back his Reagan-era love Felicia (Kristina Wagner), while Anna (Finola Hughes) is once again in the arms of her Duke (Ian Buchanan). And look, it's the long-lost Nurse B obbie (Jackie Zeman)! Fitness guru Richard Simmons, another '80s fixture in Port Charles, is on hand as the charity gala's pushy choreographer. But not even he can get these oldies sweatin'.

"Jessie's Girl" rocker Rick Springfield found himself headed to jail Friday morning. The "General Hospital" actor posted a message on Facebook from the police station, saying he had been picked up after missing a court date he didn't know he had to show up for.
The date was relation to a 2011 DUI charge Springfield received. At the time of his incident, Springfield allegedly made threats against the arresting officer, saying, "If you tow my car, I will f***ing kill you and your family."
According to TMZ, Springfield was definitely needed in court, as he was expected to show proof of completing an alcohol education program, and also take care of the $1,555 in fines he owes. When Springfield missed the date, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest, which was executed at his home Friday morning.

Rick Springfield is known for his 80s pop hits and recurring role on "General Hospital" as Dr. Noah Drake. He even brought a few smiles to New Yorkers last week when he performed his hit "Jessie's Girl" on the subway.
But Springfield's fame and outer affability belies a deep depression that the singer has battled since he was a child, he admitted on "Dr. Oz" this week. "I've gone pretty high at times so I think the ying yang of that is going pretty low," Springfield said. "I had all these hits, everything that I really wanted ... [but] what I thought would heal me, had not healed me."
He took time off from his career in the 90s and enter therapy for his depression and sex addiction, which had led to Springfield cheating on his wife.

Jay-z may take the R-train — but ’80s icon Rick Springfield did him one better yesterday, playing a pair of spontaneous, underground concerts inside two different New York City subway stations. (When you’re not famous, “surprise concerts in a subway station” are called “busking.”)
Was Springfield trying to promote his latest album, or was he simply serenading commuters because he felt bored on Wednesday morning? The point is probably moot — what matters is that he played “Jessie’s Girl,” which remains a solid jam that’s also much harder to belt out at karaoke than it has any right to be.

There's never been a shortage of hidden talent roaming around New York City's subways. Remember that guy who gave a moving performance of Adele's "Someone Like You" at 86th Street? Or that band, Atomic Tom, and their iPhone app song that went viral after it was showcased on the B train?
But if the guy singing a spot-on rendition of "Jessie's Girl" in Penn Station sounded a bit too much like Rick Springfield, that's because it actually was actually him. (The crowds of people holding up their cell phones may well have been a tip-off.)
The artist behind the 1981 hit was singing some old favorites around New York City subways to promote his new album, "Songs for the End of the World," Gothamist reports.

Rick Springfield can finally put his DUI bust behind him. The 62-year-old "Jessie's Girl" crooner cut a deal in the case Thursday, pleading no contest to a lesser charge of reckless driving "with driving under the influence conditions," according to the Washington Post. News of Springfield's plea deal comes a year after the singer-actor was busted in May 2011 on Malibu's Pacific Coast Highway after a cop noticed his 1963 Corvette accelerating quickly, and smelled alcohol on his breath when he pulled him over. The former General Hospital star later pled not guilty to the charges stemming from that arrest. Springfield will serve three years probation and is required to...

It's not exactly a drama worthy of a soap opera, but the plot still thickens. Rick Springfield pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges stemming from his May 1 arrest for alleged DUI. The former General Hospital star didn't have to be in court because this is a misdemeanor case, so his attorney addressed the counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving while having a 0.08 percent or higher blood-alcohol content on Springfield's behalf. The singer-actor was busted on Malibu's Pacific Coast Highway after a cop noticed his 1963 Corvette accelerating quickly.
