Marina Diamandis was on shrooms a few years ago, writing what she thought were lyrics for new music. A few days later, she looked at everything she had written and realized she wanted to go beyond just songs.
“I tried, and it just felt so weird,” she tells Rolling Stone. “I suddenly was like, ‘I think these are poems, actually.’ As soon as I accepted that, I started writing poetry every single day.

Like the first day of Lollapalooza 2023, Day Two featured competing headliners that vied for some 100,000+ people’s attention. On one side was the 1975, whose frontman Matty Healy has been making headlines, and on the other was one of the greatest rappers of all time, Kendrick Lamar.
Unlike Thursday, where it felt like every person was there to see Billie Eilish, Friday’s finales were more equally divided. So while Lamar headlined the bigger end of the park, both artists’ sides were comfortably packed at set time.

Marina Diamandis, the pop singer who performs using just her first name, opened up on Wednesday about her recent diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome. “I’ve had symptoms like deep fatigue, numbness, tingling, brain fog, rashes, insomnia and a feeling of being ‘poisoned’ for so long it’s been hard to remember what healthy feels like,” she wrote on Instagram. “My baseline energy has been at 50 – 60 percent for a long time. Aside from a few periods of remission, the last 7 years have consisted of relying on adrenaline and willpower to push me through each day.

Kylie Jenner’s wild look from Monday night’s Schiaparelli fashion show has polarized animal lovers and activists.
The new mom showed up to the Paris show wearing a black velvet gown that featured a hyperrealistic, life-sized lion head atop her shoulder. Her elaborate ensemble was a pre-release from the couture collection that debuted on the runway that evening, inspired by Dante’s Inferno.

Marina and the Diamonds (née Marina Lambrini Diamandis -- "and the diamonds" refers to her fans, not band members) released a live video for her single "How To Be A Heartbreaker" (click link to view) on March 8. The clip offers a glimpse of her upcoming "Heartcore" documentary, filmed during the Welsh singer's Lonely Hearts Club tour last year.
However, fans of the pop singer are experiencing a bit of deja vu. Marina first released a video for "How To Be A Heartbreaker," which is also going to be featured on "Glee" on Thursday, March 14, last fall (see the original video above).
The clip was initially held up due to what Marina, who drastically shifted directions -- at least aurally -- from slightly kooky folk pop to club-ready dance when she released her second album, "Electra Heart," nearly a year ago, referred to in a tweet as having to do with...

Marina Lambrini Diamandis -- aka Marina and the Diamonds ("the Diamonds" refers to her fans, not her bandmates) -- surged onto the music scene two years ago when she released her debut album, "The Family Jewels," and snagged the runner up position on the BBC's influential Sound of 2010 poll.
Listeners were charmed by her slightly off-kilter, left-of-center pop songs like "I Am Not A Robot," which were sonic relief from the endless buffet of dance pop and hip hop that ruled and continues to dominate radio airplay.
For her second album, "Electra Heart," Marina threw fans a curveball and presented them with a collection of songs draped in the very dance pop that she had eschewed on her first outing. However, rather than writing "drunk in the club" lyrics, as she puts it, the personal and slyly tongue-in-cheek album obsessively explores themes of sex, love, fame, betrayal and the complexities...

Marina and the Diamonds has claimed to have contacted the police over recent leaks of her songs. The singer-songwriter, born Marina Lambrini Diamandis, claimed that the people who leaked her demos are "grim & unworthy characters" who are "laughing at both you and I... as creativity grinds to an anxiety-ridden halt". "The new album is not going to be out this year," she said. "I don't know when it will be out because I don't know when I will finish it. It could be 1 or 5 years. The more leaks that happen, the slower I go. "As you can imagine, the thought of people invading my privacy and listening to half-assed unfinished songs that I write at 3am on a tour bus does not make me feel too relaxed or creative. (more)...

British singer Marina and the Diamonds has scrapped her entire upcoming North American tour due to a change in her recording schedule. The "I Am Not a Robot" star and her band were due to hit the road across the Atlantic in January and February 2011 with dates in cities including Salt Lake City, Utah; Seattle, Washington, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
But in a post on her website, Marina and the Diamonds claims the trek had to be canceled because her "recording schedule has shifted".
Marina and the Diamonds, real name Marina Lambrini Diamandis, recently admitted that she draws some influence from Britney Spears and she isn't ashamed to open it up. "I'm not ashamed to admit I like Britney Spears, no way! For me, it was something about her personality that appealed to me. She was this delicious package of weird wrongness on a lot of levels," she said...

Hailing from the same school of self-aware artifice as Lady Gaga and Little Boots, Marina Diamandis’ debut as Marina And The Diamonds benefits—and suffers—from the same irony-laden emptiness. Diamandis’ songs, full of sugary synthesizer whorls and theatrical pomp, often come across as tongue-in-cheek performance-art pieces masquerading as mindless electro-fluff, with Marina returning again and again to the narrative of her own success—a tale that’s obviously a trifle premature. Of course, that “famous for being famous” moxie has yielded triumph for some; the trouble is, Diamandis isn’t entirely sure what she wants to be famous for ...
