Tuesdays are not the same without La Brea.
Although the series was initially billed as a sci-fi sinkhole drama, the series excelled as a family drama at its core. With so many facets, La Brea appeals to many audiences.
Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about it ending just yet. NBC renewed the series in January 2023, and La Brea Season 3 is coming. However, with the writers’ strike, the series’ future beyond the filmed episodes is uncertain.
How Did La Brea Season 2 End?
La Brea Season 2 Episode 14 left us with even more questions. It was one of the few episodes that explored the consequences of time-traveling since the series hadn’t explored that much since Josh and Riley returned from 1988.
While Eve and Izzy returned in time to rescue to save Gavin and share a brief family reunion, the war wasn’t over. This time, Eve disappeared through a malfunctioning portal,...

The second half of La Brea Season 2 went by even faster than the first.
After the Harrises and Sam and Riley returned to 10,000 BC in the midseason premiere, new threats and new mysteries were introduced for the characters.
Most of them flowed seamlessly, like finding a new way home for the survivors or Lucas’s and Veronica’s more prominent roles in the Clearing, but others still made little sense, like those red flowers. Let’s discuss the high and low points of La Brea Season 2.
Best Episode- La Brea Season 2 Episodes 13 and 14
It was much harder to select one episode in the second half because they were all fantastic, but “The Journey” perfectly symbolized the angst and adventure of a season finale.

The end is (reportedly!) nigh for NBC's La Brea.
The sinkhole drama was picked up for a third season on Tuesday morning.
At the time of the renewal, details were scarce about how many episodes NBC had ordered and, more importantly, whether it would be the end of the line for the series.
Deadline reported this afternoon that the very early pickup was influenced by the possibility of a writers' and/or directors' and actors' strike.
The move means that NBC wanted to get the show back into production soon to have episodes on deck for the 2023-24 season.
Here's the kicker:
La Brea Season 3 will span just six episodes.
That marks the lowest episode tally to date.
La Brea Season 1 spanned ten episodes, and La Brea Season 2 is scheduled to have 14.
La Brea Season 2 is thus far averaging 3.6 million viewers and a 0.39 rating in the demo -- down around 30 vs.

Exclusive: NBC earlier today announced that its sci-fi drama La Brea has been renewed for a third season. I have learned that the pickup is for six episodes and that it was influenced by the possibility of a writers and/or directors and actors strike, with this likely being the show’s final chapter. Filming is slated to begin in March in Australia.
With the current WGA contract expiring May 1 and the DGA and SAG-AFTRA contracts up June 30, a potential work stoppage could impact the start of production on the new broadcast season, leaving the networks without fresh episodes of scripted series for the first few weeks of the fall.
Possibly with that in mind, I hear NBC approached the cast of La Brea about doing a short third season. Because the series regulars have a 10-episode minimum guarantee (meaning that they have to be paid at least 10 episodic fees...

Prepare to spend more time in 10,000 BC. NBC has given an early Season 3 renewal to La Brea. The news comes on the same day as the drama’s return with its midseason premiere, with back-to-back episodes (the eighth and ninth of the season). The series follows the Harris family, along with others pulled into a mysterious and dangerous primeval land after a massive sinkhole opened in Los Angeles. They are left with no choice but to band together to survive. Among the revelations so far are that Gavin (Eoin Macken) not only grew up in 10,000 BC — spending time with his wife, Eve (Natalie Zea), and other survivors as a kid — but was also from the future. The cast also includes Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chiké Okonkwo, Zyra Gorecki, Jack Martin, Veronica St. Clair, Rohan Mirchandaney, Lily Santiago, Josh McKenzie, Tonantzin Carmelo, and Michelle Vergara Moore. “The back half of the...

NBC’s time-hopping drama La Brea will continue into the future.
The network has picked up a third season of the sci-fi series from creator and showrunner David Appelbaum. The early renewal for La Brea on Tuesday comes a few hours before the series begins the back half of its 14-episode second season.
The series is averaging about 5.37 million viewers per episode (including a week of Nielsen-measured delayed viewing, but not including streaming) in season two, along with a 0.6 rating (equivalent to about 783,000 people) in the key ad demographic of adults 18-49. Those figures are down from 7.43 million and 0.9 for season one, when La Brea was the top new drama of 2021-22 in the 18-49 demo.
Natalie Zea and Eoin Macken head the cast as a couple separated after a massive sinkhole opens at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles, transporting Zea’s Eve Harris and her son,...

When NBC’s La Brea season two finally returns from its long winter break it will be with an episode that finds Josh missing. While the rest of the group, except for Levi who remained behind, jumped into a sinkhole, Josh apparently either didn’t make the leap or was taken by someone as soon as he landed.
Season two episode eight, “Stampede,” will air at 9pm on January 31, 2023 followed by episode nine, “Murder in the Clearing,” at 10pm Et/Pt.

The first half of La Brea Season 2 went by so fast.
After Gavin and Izzy landed in 10,000 BC in the season premiere, new missions and new mysteries were introduced for the characters.
Most of them flowed seamlessly, like meeting Gavin’s birth parents or Lucas’s redemption arc, but others dragged on too long, like the love triangle. Let’s discuss the high and low points of La Brea Season 2.
Best Episode- La Brea Season 2 Episode 6
La Brea almost made “Lazarus” feel like the midseason finale because the stakes were so high, and so many characters dealt with emotional gut punches.
It was the episode where Gavin met his birth father and learned how the time-travel portal would help him find Josh.
However, there were more questions than answers since we still don’t know what James did to make Silas despise him so much that he raised his grandson away from his parents.

Last fall’s No. 1 new drama in the 18–49 demo — about Angelenos sucked through a sinkhole into 10,000 B.C. — returns with a mess of loose ends to tie up. In La Brea Season 1, de facto leader Eve Harris (Natalie Zea) saw an interdimensional portal blip away her teenage son Josh (Jack Martin) and his gal pal Riley (Veronica St. Clair), with quiet 12-year-old Lilly (Chloe De Los Santos) trailing behind. Elsewhere, Eve’s estranged husband Gavin (Eoin Macken) and their daughter Izzy (Zyra Gorecki) — joined by the grown-up Lilly, known as Ella (Michelle Vergara Moore) — leaped into a Seattle sinkhole that sent them back to the time of woolly mammoths… but miles away from their loved ones. And those were just the major shockers. Heading into La Brea Season 2, here are a few answers we need Asap, answered by creative team and cast. How does the season pick up? In the opener,...

The twists and turns of La Brea Season 1 look set to be amplified on La Brea Season 2.
NBC dropped the first teaser for the second this season this week, and it looks like we're in for something much twistier than before.
"Where the hell are we?" Josh utters in the 15-second promo for the sinkhole drama that emerged as a heavy hitter in the ratings last fall.
The clip offers some big scenes, but all of the exciting stuff is actually shared in the official synopsis for the season ahead.

“Where the hell are we??” asks La Brea‘s Josh in the first teaser for the new season of NBC’s hit freshman drama. And while the video above sheds little light on that mystery — he and Riley landed on some grass! in a field! — a new synopsis for Season 2 reveals that Eve (played by Natalie Zea) will be “reeling from her son, Josh, having mistakenly gone through a portal to” — Spoiler Ahead! — the year “1988.”
We also see Levi (Nicholas Gonzalez) and Sam (Jon Seda) standing at a makeshift grave for, we shall presume, Veronica, who was last seen snared by a bear trap.

If you thought that the portal in the La Brea Season 1 finale took Josh (Jack Martin), Riley (Veronica St. Clair), and Lilly (Chloe De Los Santos) to the same time that it was to take Isiah (Diesel La Torraca) — Topanga, in 1988 — so he could grow up to be Gavin (Eoin Macken), who had been separated from half his family due to another portal, you were right! NBC has released the first teaser for the second season, which shows the Harris family — Gavin and Eve (Natalie Zea) and their kids Izzy (Zyra Gorecki) and Josh — determined to find each other. But with them in different time periods, that won’t be easy. After all, we see Josh waking up where he landed after going through the portal, and Season 1 ended with Gavin, Izzy, and Ella going through a portal themselves in present-day Seattle. They hoped to find their way back to 10,000 BC,...
