I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect from this movie based on the title alone. Perhaps some weird Frankenstein spin-off? Or maybe a twisted zombie tale? Or a comedy horror? What I wasn’t expecting was a family friendly Halloween-themed ‘horror’ movie, but that’s kind of what I got with Baby Frankenstein.
Lance (Ian Barling) stumbles upon ‘Baby Frankenstein’ and the two almost instantly embark on a kind of older/younger brother relationship. But it turns out there’s a $50,000 award for the ‘little dude’ and Lance along with his next door neighbour Truth (Cora Savage) must stop his mother’s boyfriend of sorts from capturing him and getting the money.
The story sounds about as ridiculous as it is but...

Chicago – “Blue Valentine” director Derek Cianfrance is happily married now with two young children, but the road getting there was turbulent and sometimes still is. While that’s real life, romance films often end with the lucky guy getting the pretty girl and them living happily ever.
By contrast, “Blue Valentine” is often much more, well, blue. More important, it’s just genuinely real. The romantic drama feels somewhat like a fly-on-the-wall documentary (Cianfrance’s primary experience is in TV documentaries) even though it’s not billed or scripted that way. It understands the true dichotomy between our happy and heavy hearts. The film, which was released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 10, 2011, is one of the best movies of 2010 that didn’t win an Oscar.

Weinstein Co's formerly Nc-17 rated "Blue Valentine" has been moved up 2 days from December 31st to December 29th. Deadline speculates that the distributor did this in order to get the jump on New Year's weekend, which is obvious. Limited release pic will most likely pull in a solid per-theater average. The Derek Cianfrance-directed and written drama stars Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams and Mike Vogel. Also in the cast are John Doman, Ben Shenkman, Faith Wladyka, Maryann Plunkett, Samii Ryan and Eileen Rosen. "Blue Valentine" is the story of love found and love lost told in past and present moments in time. Flooded with romantic memories of their courtship, Dean and Cindy use one night to try and save their failing marriage. An honest portrait of a relationship on the rocks...
