Exclusive: Jet-set, celebrity artist Domingo Zapata will direct an adaptation of his 2017 semi-autobiographical novel The Beautiful Dream of Life.
Veteran producers Cary Granat and Ed Jones have signed on to produce the feature adaptation.
In an innovative move, the production will feature 18 pieces of original artwork by Zapata that will be sold as Fine Art pieces and NFTs.
Last year, Zapata’s work Mona Lisa Bull Fighter sold for a personal £1 million record at a charity auction in St. Barts, in which Leonardo DiCaprio was reportedly outbid.
Spanish-born, New York-based painter Zapata is known for his lavish lifestyle, film star girlfriends and celebrity collectors, such as DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and George Soros.
He has travelled to Cannes for the final days of the film festival to help launch the project and also attend the world premiere of Ken Loach’s Palme d’Or contender The Old Oak on Friday evening.

Wme is making moves in the branded content space. The major talent agency has contributed to the Series B funding round raised by Influential, which describes itself as "the world's premier AI-powered marketplace."
The investment is part of a partnership between Wme and Influential, through which the two companies will work together to pitch influencer marketing opportunities to brands and agencies. Wme will make use of Influential's management product, Talent Pro, as well as its paid media platform, Influential Target.
“This whole partnership came about as we had been thinking a lot about the future of the commercial-endorsement business we do for talent clients, both on influencer side and very much on the traditional side,” said Chris Jacquemin, Wme’s head of digital. “I was interested in how technology would impact that side of our business, and we set out to do this in a more dynamic, data-driven way.”

Wme is looking to use Influential’s real-time data-crunching platform to help broker new branded-content pacts for its roster of talent clients — and the agency has made a minority investment in the startup as well.
The companies have struck a commercial partnership under which Influential and Wme will be co-selling sponsorships to brands and advertising agencies, using Influential’s proprietary technology and data. Wme will be the initial beta partner for Influential’s new offering, Talent Pro, which uses contextual searching, demographic insights, artificial-image recognition, and content alerts to help Wme manage its talent base.
In addition, Wme will be using Influential’s AI paid-media product, called Influential Target, to interpolate first- and third-party data to amplify endorsement deals on social media based on criteria including purchasing behavior, TV data, location and weather data.
