Earlier this week, we posted Kiel Figgins' short computer animated Tron Homage: Disc Battle, which quickly spread around the interwebs. Apparently the video was a submission in CG Society's Tron Tribute contest. The challenge was to "recreate the Look of the world of Tron."After the jump we have a look at another enry from the contest, as well as another tribute created for the Dallas MAvericks. Enjoy! Garrick Campsey's Tron Tribute This is the final video with sound and everything. Everything you see and hear was created by me for this video. All sounds were recorded and mixed by me. All models, animation, lighting, shot layout, concept, and compositing was done by me. The blue bike was modeled by Kyle King. The whole challenge took 45 days, so this video was produced, from start to finish, in 45 days. Mavs Legacy, a Tron homage produced for the Dallas Mavericks...

"Tron Legacy" won't be hitting AMC Theatres for another few months, but the fan films are already starting to sneak out! Check out this awesome fan film, created for a VFX contest, and titled "Tron Homage: Disc Battle"

Once again, this is Fan made. That's incredible and it totally looks like something fit for the real film, or at the very least, the video game!

Hey Gang! Here is a very brief but very cool fan made CGI video of a Tron disc battle called Tron Homage: Disc Battle. The video below was created by Kiel Figgins who oversaw a team of animators and artists to create this fun little video. This is the first fan made video we've seen that actually looks like it takes place in Disney's Tron Legacy. The clip was created for the CGTalk: FX Challenge.
Watch the great short clip below and let us know what you think!

With the all-new, heavily CGI designs of Tron Legacy, I'm surprised we haven't already seen quite a few fan-made videos set in the updated Tron world. Enter Tron Homage: Disc Battle, a brief but very pretty fan film made as an entry in a VFX competition. Kiel Figgins oversaw a team of animators and artists to create this clip, which looks just like it belongs in the world of Disney's sequel to Tron, or at least the world as we've briefly seen it in trailers and video game clips. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Disney sends a quick cease and desist over this video, so check it out now. It's less than a minute long, so it won't intrude too much on your post-4th relaxation. Generally speaking when the fan community starts producing videos of their favorite movie franchises it's a sign of the popularity of the trademark. While there's been a ton of Star Wars and Star Trek fan films there hasn't been any set in the universe of Tron. Perhaps it has something to do with the dated look of the 1982 movie as anyone attempting to create Tron's neon-tinted digital world on today's computers would probably produce something that looks better than what we saw 28 years ago.
To the best of my knowledge no one has made a fan film before the movie it's homaging, and which is still in production, has come out. A guy named Kiel Figgins has made a fan film that's set in the visual universe of Tron Legacy, the sequel to Tron slated for release this December, and it might very well be the first fan-created homage of...
