Following on from the awesome live show in Glasgow, Scotland, Impact Wrestling presents Turning Point 2023 live from Newcastle, England – in front of a rabid English crowd, including Nerdly’s very own Kev! Let’s see what went down, starting with two Countdown to Turning Point matches that saw Grado & Rhino defeat Ryan Richards & Mike D; and Leon Slater defeat Mark Haskins to retain the North Wrestling Championship…
Match #1: Josh Alexander & Eric Young def. Subculture (Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster) The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
Alexander and Young work together in the early going to assert their power over Andrews and Webster. Andrews targets Alexander’s left knee to gain the momentary advantage. Alexander begins to wear Webster down with a belly-to-back suplex as he and Young employ quick tags. Webster evades Young, sending him crashing into the steel ring post. The separation allows Webster to tag in Andrews.

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the finals of the Pure Title Tournament. Before we get started, look at this:
The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
Roh commentators Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman and Quinn McKay provided their analysis and predictions for the Roh Pure Title tournament final between Tracy Williams and Jonathan Gresham, which airs on this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling.”
Ian Riccaboni: I’m a big enough man to admit when I am wrong, and I’ve been purely wrong about this whole Pure tournament. In hindsight, it makes a lot of sense that the two Pure Championship finalists, Tracy Williams and Jonathan Gresham, are in the position they find themselves in. The two most technically sound wrestlers in the entire tournament should have been in the best position...

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and 8Mm is a wild movie. That has nothing to do with anything, but I like pizza rolls. Okay, this show is all matches from Free Enterprise, so if you hated that show, then this episode will really piss you off.
Match #1: Mark Haskins def. Alex Shelley The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
A back-and-forth battle between master technicians ended with Haskins forcing Shelley to submit to the Sharpshooter. Haskins looks to be at the absolute top of his game heading into his Triple Threat Match for the Roh World Title against champion Pco and Rush at Gateway To Honor on Feb. 29 in St. Louis.
My Opinion: 3.7 out of 5 – This was…I don’t remember the old score I gave it. Did I rate it already? Aw hell…in any case,...

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor: Honor United 2019 – Bolton, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the final of three shows, with this one hailing from Bolton. Army of Darkness had a more depressing ending before the “S-Mart” ending. I slept too long! Okay, let’s see if this show can balance out a tour that had one great and one decent show to its record.
Match #1: Joe Hendry defeated Silas Young (Disqualification)
My Opinion: 1.7 out of 5 – What a waste of two talented people. I get that this was just a set-up for another match, but wasting a booking is some-thing that shouldn’t be done lightly.
Match #2: Joe Hendry and Dalton Castle defeated Silas Young and Rampage Brown
My Opinion: 2.4 out of 5 – Why not just have this be the only match to start the show and have a twelve or thirteen...

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor: Honor United 2019 – Newport, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and…this show sucked. Yeah. The London show rocked and this one sucked. You’ll get it in a minute.
Match #1: Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll and Flip Gordon) defeated Tracy Williams and Flamita
My Opinion: 3.5 out of 5 – Fortunately, this show did start off with a lovely match. I used lovely. I can do that. Suck it, Donald Trump. This was a fantastic way to start the show, as it was a longer match with plenty of action that was properly paced and fought with heart and passion. The sucking hasn’t quite started, yet.
Match #2: Shane Taylor defeated Danny Jones – Ring Of Honor World Television Title Match The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
Roh World Television Champion Shane Taylor successfully defended his title against UK competitor Danny Jones.

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor: Honor United 2019 – London, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we’ve got the first show of three to get to, which better be good or The Great Pumpkin won’t come to my pumpkin patch! This pumpkin patch is the most sincere! Screw the other ones! Hey, we’re in London for this show. Do you think Mary Poppins will be there…to strip? Juuuuuuust a spoon full of sugar makes the pantaloons fall doooooooown…in the most delightful waaaaaaaaay! Okay, you crazy kids, let’s enjoy Evil Dead 2.
Match #1: LifeBlood (Mark Haskins and Tracy Williams) defeated Brat Pack (Mitch Waterman and Nick Bury)
My Opinion: 3.3 out of 5 – It’s a shame that Roh didn’t have a write-up about this match in their recap, because it turned out well enough. Haskins and Williams have been the...

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor’s Saturday Night at Center Stage, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a slew of good matches to get to, so let’s get right to it.
Match #1: Villain Enterprises (Pco and Brody King) defeated LifeBlood (Mark Haskins and Tracy Williams) The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
Less than two minutes into the match, Pco suffered a malfunction that caused him to deliver a suicide dive on the opposite side of where his intended targets were. He landed face first on the floor and came up dazed and bleeding profusely from a deep gash above his right eye. The “not human” Pco refused medical attention and continued the match. The two teams battled back and forth, exchanging one hard-hitting move after another. Williams hit an assisted piledriver on King, but Pco made the save. Haskins...

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have one match. One stinkin’ match. That being said, it’s a real winner. The rest of the show sucks though. Oh boy. Well, let’s make like August: Osage County and get turned into a terrible movie. Roh TV starts…a couple of days ago, in some markets.
Match #1: (Main Event) Matt Taven vs. Alex Shelley – Ring Of Honor World Title Match The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
The challenger was one step ahead of the champion during the early stages of the match. Shelley went for Sliced Bread outside the ring, but Taven countered by slamming him through a table. They continued to battle inside and outside the ring until Shelley eventually regained the momentum. Shelley hit Blade Runner (the move he taught to former Iwgp Heavyweight...

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have some matches and stuff. Isn’t that exciting? Actually, we have more from the Villain Enterprises/LifeBlood feud in our main event, so get ready to see LifeBlood lose…or not. I didn’t spoil anything.
Match #1: Jonathan Gresham defeated Kenny King, Dalton Castle and Jeff Cobb – Four Corner Survival Match The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
Even though the match is every man for himself, Castle and King worked as unit to isolate Gresham. Eventually, their alliance fell apart. As Castle and King bickered, Gresham tagged in Cobb, who began tossing around both men. King went for a Blockbuster on Cobb, but Cobb caught him and delivered a Jackhammer for a near fall. Later, ringside attendant Amy Rose handed King one of her high heels. Cobb tried...

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor: Mass Hysteria, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have the second card of the weekend from Roh. Manhattan Mayhem was quite good, so my hope is that Mass Hysteria is just as good, if not better. Okay, let’s see if this all came together or not.
Match #1: The Briscoes defeated The Bouncers – Ring Of Honor World Tag Team Title Match
My Opinion: 1.5 out of 5 – The Briscoes did fine here, but this just wasn’t much of a match. Going around ten minutes, this felt like a bowling ball landing on your foot and only hurting half as much as you thought it would. The Bouncers leave a lot to be desired, but they do have ability, so seeing them falter is unfortunate. I bet if this had happened in a bar this would have been a fun one,...

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor’s Manhattan Mayhem, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have six matches to cover, including a few big ones, so let’s get to them.
Match #1: Dragon Lee defeated Jonathan Gresham
My Opinion: 4.5 out of 5 – This was a vicious match that gave Gresham a chance to go even farther heel than he has before. This felt like a New Japan match shot full of adrenaline while going 90 on the highway. This is another great pairing that could draw any-where, thanks to performances like the one here. The wrestling here was off the charts and is proof that all you need in wrestling is the ability to have a great match to make a mark.
Match #2: The Bouncers defeated Soldiers of Savagery and Coast 2 Coast

Welcome to this week’s Ring Of Honor review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have a wild match or two from a league that is having a hard time making this year into a success. Let’s see if this show comes together all right.
Match #1: Pco defeated Jay Briscoe by disqualification The following is courtesy of rohwrestling.com:
Not surprisingly, the fight spilled to the floor, where Briscoe backdropped Pco onto the edge of the apron. Back inside the ring, Pco hit Kryptonite Krunch for a near fall, and a cannonball off the top rope for another near fall. Pco connected on a cannonball through the ropes to the outside. Briscoe halted Pco’s momentum by dropping him ribs-first on the guardrail. Briscoe then sat Pco in a chair outside the ring and delivered a running crossbody. Later, Pco set up for a moonsault,...

Welcome to this review of Ring Of Honor’s/New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 SuperCard, which emanated from Madison Square Garden in one of the great moments of wrestling history. I’m Nathan Favel and right here on Nerdly, we have one of the biggest events in wrestling history to discuss, so let’s do so.
Match #1: The 30-Man Honor Rambo: Winner – Kenny King
My Opinion: 3 out of 5 – This was less about great wrestling and more about big surprises. The action was of a certain quality, which should neither condone nor condemn the match itself. In what may have set the precedent for the card, the Japanese wrestlers were the best thing here. Overall, this match got the crowd excited, which is just fine.

Welcome to this composited version of The Last Week In Wrestling, where I’m going to take three weeks’ worth of wrestling and do a special edition where we cover a whole lot of wrestling. For this time only, we’ll pick the best of the three weeks for our usual categories. Next week, we’ll be back to normal, but this is a chance to get back on schedule, so let’s do so before Kathleen Kennedy fires me for letting Chewbacca improvise some of his lines.
Best Promo:
Curt Hawkins Redemption (WWE) – Curt cut a fine promo about wanting to become a great champion, starting with Zack Ryder and going from there. The idea is he knows he’s a loser and wants to change all of that. This felt very genuine and when you can tap into some-thing like that, you really have some-thing great to share with people.
