Filming on Shonda Rhimes‘ new legal drama will be taking a brief recess.
The ABC midseason series For the People has temporarily shut down production “for some additional script work,” according to our sister site Deadline. The delay is only expected to last about two and a half weeks and shouldn’t affect the planned rollout next year. (ABC hasn’t given For the People a premiere date yet.)

On Wednesday afternoon, Paul Feig tweeted that he was indeed going to direct a new Ghostbusters film, and it will, in his words, star "hilarious women." Just a few months ago the future of Ghostbusters seemed uncertain, with Ivan Reitman deciding not to direct a new movie after the death of Harold Ramis. Feig, however, has taken Ghostbusters in an entirely new direction. He's not making a follow-up to the '80s classics, but rebooting franchise with women as the titular ghost-fighting heroes. The concept fits within Feig's oeuvre. His critical and commercial successes, Bridesmaids and The Heat, were comedies led by women,...

Sam: I know. I forgot about it until I googled deaths. I don’t even remember how he “came back to life.” Clearly it didn’t impact me.

Maryland Film Festival (Mff) is an annual four-day event that takes place in downtown Baltimore during the first weekend of May, presenting top-notch film and video work from all over the world. Each year the festival screens approximately 50 feature films and 75 short films of all varieties -- narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, and hybrid -- to tens of thousands of audience members. This year your loyal Smells Like Screen Spirit scribes bring you a preview of some of the fantastic films that are in store for you at Mff 2012. Attenberg is certainly not as fantastically absurd as Yorgos Lanthimos’ Dogtooth, which Tsangari produced, but the two Greek films do share a certain cinematic kinship in farcically discussing the effects of overly restrictive parenting, specifically related to the social and sexual repression of the offspring. One might say that Attenberg is like the mellow chaser used to calm the crazy rush after...

Every night, we take turns and get cozy in our super-chic rocker and read at least two (but sometimes as many as five) books to Simone before she goes to bed. So we've read a lot of books in her nearly two years of life. There are some great books for kids, and a surprising number of really awful ones.
There's no telling why Simone gravitates toward certain books over others. We have maybe 50 or 60 for her to pick from, but she seems to always gravitate toward a handful of favorites. As dads, our criteria are pretty basic:
We like books with a point. That doesn't mean the book needs to have a distinct narrative with a beginning, middle, and end. It can be a basic book that showcases different colors. But it needs to be consistent and fun. We've read books that are literally four pages long and make no sense,...

As you read this, I am likely standing in the center of the sun. That’s not meant to be poetic. I’m on vacation in my homeland of Texas! But I couldn’t leave without first giving you your weekly helping of TV scoop. In exchange, can someone pick up my mail?
Speaking of mail, send me some! Spoiler requests, casting suggestions for the numerous primetime openings we seem to have, or even your pilot questions. Email spoilerroom@ew.com or Tweet me @EWSandraG. I’ll check them when I return in two weeks!

Have you read the latest in Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mysteries? I’ll give you a hint, HBO calls them True Blood, and if you’re a fan of the show you’ve got to give the books a try. Yes, yes, I’m a big fan of the show, but the books are better and more cleverly done. Isn’t that always the truth? Of course, that’s just my opinion. I’d love to know what others think who have seen the entire series thus far and read the books.
But I digress.
Charlaine Harris has written the 11th book, Dead Reckoning, and it came out at the beginning of this month. I devoured this book, finishing it in less than 24 hours. As per usual, I’ll say that if you haven’t read the first ten, you’ll probably want to skip this review and go catch up,...

Millions of Australians grew up watching Dot and the Kangaroo and Blinky Bill, but the story of Yoram Gross, the man behind such beloved characters, is far more interesting than any piece of fiction.
Jerzy gross was born in October in 1926 in Krakow, Poland, where his family owned a couple of fine home mart stores. His father disappeared, presumably killed, when Gross was almost 13 and preparing for his Bar Mitzvah. But that coming-of-age ceremony would never take place; the German forces invaded the country in 1939.
The following years, documented in his new autobiography My Animated Life, saw the Gross family divided, constantly on the move and eventually managing to survive the war – a true story that would make a fascinating film.
Gross have filmmaking dreams when the war ended in 1945. Poland’s prolific film industry had disappeared during the Nazi occupation, but after the war it started to come back to life.

Carlsbad - LEGOs…those colorful blocks that snap together so easily. Many view them as a childhood toy, but they’re serious fun among collectors and adult builders. They can vacation at the American LEGOland. They can get those rare pieces at Lego stores across the country in malls. Lego video games featuring Star Wars, Batman and Indiana Jones are all the rage. Keeping up with what’s happening in Lego is about as foreboding a task as your mother keeping up with your LEGOs.
Joe Meno organizes the Lego universe through BrickJournal magazine. The periodical announces upcoming products, events and how-to articles by top buildings. It’s a coffeetable magazine featuring all the Lego pieces your kids lost under the sofa. The pages are addictive even for someone mildly interested in Lego with illustrations that show how the plastic building blocks can snap into amazing works of art. For...
