So You Think You Can Dance said goodbye to its first finalists last week when Missy Morelli, Iveta Kukosiute, Nick Young and Wadi Jones were all axed in a mass elimination following a second week of Top 20 performances (the first week was a non-elimination week). Kristen Chenoweth is the third guest judge of the series, following Megan Mullally last week, joining Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Lil C at the judges' table. Here's what the judges said: > Browse a full gallery of pictures from tonight's So You Think You Can Dance here Sasha Mallory and Alexander Fost - Contemporary Dance: A love story choreographed by Dee Caspary. Oh, Uncle Nigel. Like many family members, you frustrate me as much as you amuse me with your stories of eating penny candy while rolling your hoop on the way to the latest Mary Pickford matinee as a boy. But as of last night, you might as well be my estranged uncle. Though last week, we were met with a pleasant, non-elimination surprise during So You Think You Can Dance’s results show, this week, we were dealt a tragic shocker (Spoiler Alert): The ousting of early favorites Wadi Jones, Missy Morelli, Iveta Lukosiute, and Nick Young.

So You Think You Can Dance judge Nigel Lythgoe said it best even before the cameras started to roll: "This is going to be a sad show." Following a night of emotional and entertaining dances by the top 20, tears once again flowed on Thursday as the bottom three couples - Missy Morelli and Wadi Jones, Iveta Lukosiute and Nick Young, and Ryan Ramirez and Ricky Jaime - were announced. "Ryan and I are really close. She's such an amazing person and she is my best friend in this competition so just to be in the bottom with your best friend is really hard,...

So You Think You Can Dance's judges managed to make a decision last night, sending home four dancers: Wadi Jones, Iveta Lukosiute, Missy Morelli, and Nick Young. Of the bottom three, the judges saved Ryan Ramirez and Ricky Jaime. Ryan's save is the most surprising and even mildly controversial. Ricky's solo saved him and Nick's sent him home, according to Nigel Lythgoe, who told reporters backstage that the judges switched their decision after the solo...

Any which way you slice it, this week’s So You Think You Can Dance results show was a trying one. Four of the Top 20 dancers — or 20 percent of the field — felt the cold grip of elimination icily massage their necks, and when it was all said and done, two early favorites, a World Champion, and one of Nigel’s certified lady beasts had fallen by the wayside.
But looking on the bright side, perhaps America’s loss will be Debbie Reynolds’ gain. Indeed, on Wednesday night’s performance show, the screen legend and bawdy guest judge jokingly offered to...

Last night on So You Think You Can Dance, we watched as 10 couples boogied their hearts away for a chance to stay in the competition. But tonight, that dream ended for some. Four contestants were sent home—can you guess who? After a group performance with all 20 contestants, host Cat Deeley attempted to dance her pretty booty onstage and explained that the experts (and judges) Mary Murphy, Nigel Lythgoe and Debbie Reynolds have their work cut out for them tonight. The bottom three couples based on last night's performances were: Missy Morelli and Wadi Jones, Iveta Lukosiute and Nick Young, and Ryan Ramirez and Ricky Jaime. Then each individual had to give a solo "dance...

Each of the contestants - who received the lowest number of public votes - had performed for the judges again with a solo routine in their specialised genre of dance in order to help the judges make their final decision. It was clear we were in for a strange episode of So You Think You Can Dance on Wednesday night the minute guest judge Debbie Reynolds started cracking jokes about her limited time left on the planet. “It’s fantastic to be alive,” she declared, before host Cat Deeley encouraged the screen legend to try to “keep going for the next two hours.” Wowza. That early weirdness spilled over into the contestants’ confessionals (where they spilled “shocking” secrets about their partners), the performances (which included a wardrobe malfunction and a bloody nose), and especially to the judges’ table, where Nigel Lythgoe...

All contestants have been spared elimination this week on the eighth season of So You Think You Can Dance. Judge Nigel Lythgoe revealed that no dancers would be sent home on tonight's live results episode after Jordan Casanova, Tadd Guaddang, Clarice Ordaz, Jess LeProtto, Miranda Maleski and Robert Taylor Jr all fell into the bottom seven. Mitchell Kelly was also automatically placed in danger after an injury kept him from performing during last night's live show. Each of the contestants - who received the lowest number of public votes - had performed for the judges again, with Mitchell and Robert being asked to perform a second solo before the decision was announced. The dancers continuing with the competition are: Melanie Moore and Marko Germar, Missy Morelli and Wadi Jones, Iveta Lukosiute and Nick Young, Ashley (more)...

Lithe young bodies take flight with the power and grace of Pegasus. A hyperactive woman sits behind a rectangular table and squeals with delight. A British fashionista dazzles in a shimmering black minidress and silver stilettos from hell. And I’m awkwardly typing phone numbers containing the word “Tempo” into my cellular keypad. It can only mean one thing: The live rounds of So You Think You Can Dance, Season 8, are upon us. And based on Tuesday night’s mostly first-rate performances, I’d say we’re in for a heckuva thrilling summer. Ask 10 different folks who’s the competition’s current front-runner,...

We're not sure what it says about "So You Think You Can Dance" that the first celebrity judge of the season was Megan Mullally -- star of "Childrens Hospital," erstwhile Tammy no. 2 on NBC's "Parks & Recreation" and "Will & Grace" alumna. She's not really known for her dancing. But, hey, we were pretty jazzed, what with being big fans and all. We hoped to catch a glimpse of real-life husband Nick Offerman (Ron Effing Swanson) in the audience, but no such luck -- probably home whittling a canoe.
But we digress -- we're here to talk about dance, and here we go.
Season 8's top 20 dancers got off to a strong start with routines choreographed by the usual suspects -- Sonya Tayeh, Jason Gilkison, Travis Wall and -- of course -- sometime judge Tyce Diorio. We tried to catch every single moment, but since we were watching from a bustling green...

We haven’t even reached the voting stage for the current installment of So You Think You Can Dance, and I’m about to do something profoundly presumptuous and undeniably stupid: In the wake of Thursday night’s telecast announcing the Season 8 Top 20 — a closely matched group that at first glance appears to be extraordinarily talented — I’ve decided to rest my neck on the guillotine and rank the contestants in order from least- to most-likely to win.
“It’s too early,” you say, and you are probably right. What’s more, a Top 20 ranking flies in the face of...

We've been through cross-country auditions and Las Vegas week, but 20 dancers walked the "So You Think You Can Dance" green mile to make it to the finals of our favorite dance competition. And, lucky for them and us, no one went home this week and the dancers got to show off their skills in their native genres.
The first four dancers to make it into the top 20 performed (in front of a live studio audience, no less) the first routine of the night to The Irrepressibles' harmony-heavy "In This Shirt." The Stacey Tookey-choreographed routine was modern and floaty -- all pale folds of flowing fabric and fog machines obscuring the dancers' feet.
Our first four were all from the contemporary end of the spectrum: Rickey Jaime, an 18-year-old from Tampa, Fla.; Miranda Maleski, a 19-year-old from North Hollywood, Calif. (who told Zap2it she danced on stage behind Kanye West at Coachella); Melanie Moore,...

Top 20 of "So You Think You Can Dance" season 8 will not be officially announced until next week, but Omg! Dance claims to have known some of them. The partial list consists of 9 female contestants and 3 male dancers, but the site advises that it should be taken with a grain of salt.
Among the bunch, only a few who have appeared on the show. They are [Spoiler Alert!] Melanie Moore who joined the auditions in Atlanta, and Ryan Ramirez who appeared during the San Francisco auditions. The others, meanwhile, may come from auditions in other cities which are yet to be aired.
