There are very few celebrity guests that come on "Howard Stern" that truly feel like they could be a member of the show's staff, but from his very first appearance George Takei felt right at home with Howard, Robin, Fred, Gary and the rest. Over the last 25 years the "Star Trek" icon has been on the show dozens of times, and each time I find myself wishing that he could become a permanent fixture. His oh-so-proper diction is betrayed consistently by a naughty sensibility that makes him a true delight and game for anything that comes his way. In celebration of George's appearance on this week's show, during which he judged the name of a contest that I probably shouldn't mention here, I've rounded up ten of his greatest "Howard Stern" moments in no particular order. 1. The time "Oh My" became his catchphrase. While Takei admits he's been using the term "Oh my" for years,...

Whether you love them or wish they'd stop talking about Dave's age, his Achilles and the evils of Brendon & Rachel, you can't deny that Dave & Connor were deserving winners for this "Amazing Race: All-Stars" season. After having to self-eliminate from their first season after Dave's injury, the father-son team won a whopping six Legs -- they'll be taking tropical vacations together for years to come -- and never really faced any serious jeopardy. Did they do anything impressive in that Final Leg to win? Not really. But they got to Phil Keoghan first and that's all that matters. In the process, they became the first parent-child team to win "The Amazing Race" and Dave, as he mentioned so frequently, became the oldest individual winner. In their exit interview, which finally concludes my spring reality exit interviews, Dave & Connor discuss their comfortable "Amazing Race" triumph, Dave talks about his age and...

Doing "The Amazing Race" with somebody you know and love certainly doesn't mean you're going to get along. Duh. Facing the unique pressures of a televised race around the world, we've watched married couples, best friends, siblings and parents-and-children get lost in squabbles both petty and significant. Usually after the fighting is over, the partners profess to continued love and the relationships, either by blood or by choice, can be expected to continue as before. It's part of the charm of "The Amazing Race." This All-Stars season, though, "The Amazing Race" bucked formula. When Bopper had to bail on the season just hours before it began, Mark was allowed to race with Mallory, of Gary & Mallory fame, already a two-time contestant. They'd met previously, but she claimed not to know his last name. [It's Jackson.] The Mark & Mallory experiment lasted for two Legs. In last Sunday's episode, the mismatched pair ran into...

"The Amazing Race" has had twists that sent teams home before leaving Los Angeles, but no Racer has ever gone less distance than William "Bopper" Minton. Sunday (February 23) night's "Amazing Race: All-Stars" premiere began with a sad twist for Team Kentucky. Bopper, a fan favorite who cheered for partner Mark through an arduous, health-testing Bollywood challenge in their first season, began experiencing internal pain the night before the Race was set to begin, was diagnosed with an inflamed pancreas and was told he shouldn't Race. Instead, Mark was paired, seemingly out of nowhere, with fellow Kentuckian Mallory, making her third appearance on the show, but her first without father Gary. That's the narrative as presented by "The Amazing Race" on Sunday. On Monday morning, I talked with Bopper about his medical condition, how he handled it and how the show handled it. Bopper explained his recent perfect storm of catastrophes...

Season 24 of "The Amazing Race" started on Sunday (February 23) night with an episode that inverted the show's ideal momentum. There was a shocking, sad and emotional twist before we got to the opening credits, but then 50 minutes later, the episode concluded without any cursory effort at creating suspense or tension. And the editors couldn't have created tension even if they wanted to, as the "All-Stars" season began with a purely designed Leg featuring two needle-in-a-haystack -- not especially big haystacks, either -- plus a Roadblock that failed to inject even an iota of difficulty into the game. For a season that was already plagued by skepticism regarding the "favorite" status of several of the team selections, this was not an ideal premiere, now was it? I'd love to have more to talk about from Sunday's hour, but it wasn't well-suited for recapping, either. I'll do my best after the break,...

Midway through Hour Three of this year’s Emmys, host Neil Patrick Harris joked: “No one in America is winning their office pool.” Except that wasn’t really a joke: The 2013 Emmy Awards featured seven big upsets in the major primetime awards. Longtime also-rans got their moment in the sun. Some low-key performances beat out showier and more popular contenders. And, well, the boys of Breaking Bad boys went home emptyhanded. (But don’t weep for them too much.) Below, we rank the upsets from “We should’ve seen that coming” to “We couldn’t have seen that coming even...

The Amazing Race Review, Season 21, Episode 11,
“Take Down That Million”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
What truly makes a strong team on The Amazing Race? The obvious answer is athleticism, but plenty of powerful young pairs have left early. Scanning through the winners, most are capable at physical challenges but don’t always stand out as the team to beat. Two weeks ago, Abbie and Ryan were eliminated purposely by the others due to their status as a threat. This felt like the right move because Josh and Brent have struggled at many tasks. Even so, their ease at handling mental challenges made them a deceptive choice to keep afloat. Unlike a show like Survivor, it’s problematic to try and manipulate who sticks around because future legs are unknown. There’s no jury at the end to choose the most worthy player. Instead, all it takes is...

Thanksgiving is almost here, and ETonline is getting holiday tips from The Amazing Race and The Fabulous Beekman Boys stars Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge. Read on for the guys' advice on everything from what to serve, how to avoid travel frustration and how to go local with your Christmas shopping.
ETonline: For our readers who might be familiar with you from The Amazing Race, and the Cooking Channel, but who might not know more about you, can you tell us a little bit about yourselves, and your life on the farm?
Josh: Yeah. We were two city guys, who had great jobs in New York City. Brent worked for Martha Stewart, and I worked in advertising. And we bought a farm in upstate New York. Sort of just on a whim as a weekend place. And then in 2008, like a lot of Americans, we lost our jobs. We realized that we had to make this...

ETOnline: What did you think of Nadiya and Natalie taking the Rockers' money and splitting it with Trey and Lexi?
Kelley: I just thought that was crazy!
Rob: I can tell you that we didn't know anything about it. And we had a lot of questions toward us about the commercials because I guess they were sayin' somebody stole the money and then they showed our picture, which I thought was crazy. But it was definitely, as far as I'm concerned, I felt that it was a rule violation and I felt that both teams should have been eliminated from the race.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 21, Episode 4, “Funky Monkey”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
A common question among long-time fans of The Amazing Race asks why the later seasons feel so different. Along with a faster-paced editing and more gimmicks, the main changes have involved the casting. The producers look more for characters of a specific type than the “regular people” approach of the early years. These contestants are frequently recruited and don’t always understand the show. This leads to a lot of mistakes and manufactured drama, but that doesn’t mean it’s a better series. Ardent fans usually wish for more applicants who love the show in place of over-the-top characters. The tricky part is that super fans aren’t always more interesting contestants. While the general concept is positive, this move can backfire and lead to inept and dull racers. Viewers may hate a crazy team,...

The team dubbed "Long Hair, Don't Care" took a huge gamble this week on "The Amazing Race." They were nowhere near the front of the pack when they came upon the "Fast Forward." If anybody had taken it on before them, they'd have wasted all that time, and have to go back to continue on the regular course. But they've been playing their own game all along, and this gamble paid off.
Despite being the fifth team to see the choice to try it, they were the first and only team to try it. All they had to do was gather some dead rats from various locations and head to the Pit Stop. So they did, with minimal concern about the disgusting rats they were dealing with.
In fact, they joked that in their rock-and-roll lives they've dealt with many rats, so this was nothing new to them. For their efforts,...

The Amazing Race Review, Season 21, Episode 3
“There’s No Crying in Baseball”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
In the current era of The Amazing Race, the producers have used two primary tactics to generate tension. The first move is casting volatile teams like Brendon and Rachel from last season that create drama with their mere presence. This has been a more common strategy in recent installments. In cases where the cast is generally likable like this year, precise game design is a necessity to avoid watching congenial teams meekly depart each week. If there was more drama among the teams this year, it’s guaranteed the editors would make a big deal about the infractions. Since that isn’t possible so far, an old-school approach is needed to set up an exciting conclusion. There are plenty of different ways the producers can try to influence the race, and...

For once, there was no editing trickery at work for The Amazing Race's tight finish Sunday. After getting lost while Gary and Will, who were U-Turned, performed both Detours, Caitlin and Brittany appeared to be headed for safety when they finally got to the clue first. But they wound up behind Gary and Will, and when they passed them on the road, their pedicabs went in two different directions at an intersection. "After we forked and went left, we knew we went the wrong way. We were like, 'This is not good,'" Caitlin tells TVGuide.com. "First of all, it took [our cabbie] forever to turn around. A miracle would've had to happen for us to get in front of them at that point." So how did they get so lost? What part of their pedicab drama wasn't shown? Find out below.

“Long Hair, Don’t Care”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
When it comes to analyzing episodes of The Amazing Race, it’s sometimes difficult to distinguish between poor game design and an undesirable result. The producers are blamed when they make it too easy for a likable team, but they face criticism when bad luck dooms that pair. It’s true that a bad taxi driver is the reason for Amy and Daniel’s surprise exit. However, plenty of other teams did locate the destination, so the task isn’t unfairly challenging. Chance has been a part of the game since the first season and has doomed plenty of capable teams. The ones who survive this type of obstacle are quick to recognize the situation early before it’s too late. Their fate also offers a clear reminder of how important luck is to this competition.

In the opening Leg of The Amazing Race 21, eleven teams of two flew to China to battle ping pong prodigies and force-feed frog fallopian tubes in their quest to be eligible to double the grand prize for winning the Race. Amy & Daniel foolishly tipped off Abbie & Ryan to the location of Mildred the albacock uccobus abacus lady and were sniped out of their shot at a double payday. Josh & Brent from Team Gay bickered but managed to luck into a seventh place finish and Jaymes, Team Gay's third member, barely survived, finishing in tenth with partner James. Philiminated were Rob & Sheila, gone before I made even a single Monty Python “He's a lumberjack and he's Ok” joke.

The Amazing Race 21 premiere had an actual footrace to the Pit Stop, and Rob and Sheila came out on the losing end — by 10 seconds. "If that," Rob tells TVGuide.com. "It was really close. It wasn't the outcome we wanted, but someone had to go and we were the one." The engaged lumberjacks were overtaken by the Chippendales (Jaymes and James) after each team labored to find a woman with an abacus on The Bund, a Shanghai waterfront. The couple probably would've been safe had Trey and Lexi not told the Chippendales where the clue was or if Gary and Will not lied to them about the clue. As it turns out, the three teams had an alliance, only for Gary and Will to renege on it. Would Rob and Sheila had done the same? Find out below.

CBS has announced the 11 teams of two that will traverse the globe on the 21st season of "The Amazing Race," which premieres Sunday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt on CBS, with the Emmy-nominated Phil Keoghan returning as host.
The new season introduces a twist whereby if the team that wins the first leg of the season can also win the final leg of the Race, they will double their money and win $2 million instead of $1 million.
Teams will travel through three continents, nine countries and cover more than 25,000 miles, where they'll be faced with a 10-story rappel in Los Angeles, frying an egg on their heads in Indonesia, working as "rat collectors" in Bangladesh and revisiting one of the Race's most infamous Roadblocks in the Netherlands in this season's "Switchback."

Bad taxi luck struck Gary and Mallory Ervin at the worst time on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business — on the last leg, and they couldn't do anything about it. "Once we pulled out of the airport, there was no going back. We were married to [our cabbie] Sterling for better or worse," Gary tells TVGuide.com. "We went to remote locations, so we couldn't change cabs." Despite that, the father and daughter made up major time on Kisha and Jen, and Flight Time and Big Easy at the trailer task and are happy they got to go out racing hard.

On last night's feel-good finale of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business, even third-place finisher Mallory was jumping with joy. But while the contestants had plenty to celebrate—especially million-dollar winners Lakisha and Jennifer Hoffman—the 18th season also had its share of feuds, cheating accusations and taxi tragedies. Read on to hear what the final three finishers had to say about the season's trials and tribulations... The Cabbie Curse The true story behind Gary and Mallory's million-dollar cab ride (because that's how much bungling driver Sterling cost them) is even more heartbreaking than we saw. "We got out of the airport [and] got in the first cab that...

The Amazing Race concluded its 18th season and second all-star season with two back-to-back episodes that ended in the Florida Keys with the $1 million prize going to sisters Jen and Kisha Hoffman. The Globetrotters came in second, followed by father/daughter team Gary and Mallory. Friends Zev and Justin were knocked out in the penultimate leg. Jen and Kisha won having performed consistently, if unmemorably, this entire season. They're the second all-female team to win,...

After five continents, 23 cities, 40,000 miles, some ridiculous kangaroo suits, plates of greasy wiener schnitzel, and Kent’s unbelievably terrifying eyebrows, The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business reached its conclusion Sunday night with an intermittently tense, occasionally emotional finale.
The opening hour took the competitors from Switzerland to Rio de Janeiro, where the field was winnowed down from four teams to three. The leg started out poorly for Flight Time and Big Easy, who missed a train connection thanks to a sluggish cab driver, giving a 30-minute head start to the three remaining teams. But things quickly went Cape Horn-level south for...

Great cast, great beginning, slow ending.
Compared to the previous seventeen seasons, this was probably the best season we’ve ever seen. Teams like Flight Time and Big Easy, Jet and Cord, Zev and Justin and Gary and Mallory carried the show. Watching them race was high entertainment from start to finish.
Unlike Survivor, however, The Amazing Race is as much a product of the course that is laid out as it is of the people who race it. No matter how entertaining the people are, if the course is not dynamic, there’s only so much the racers can do.
The start of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business was chock full of dynamic challenges, interesting legs and surprises. As the number of teams got whittled down, the legs became less creative. By the second hour of the finale, the last leg of the race, we watched a leg where...

My Random Thoughts:
- Previously on The Amazing Race, a reminder of the demise of each of the remaining four teams in their original seasons, and a recap of the 7 teams eliminated so far this season, who will all be relegated to lining the finish line and applauding as if they care who wins. But, at least I got to see the footage of Luke melting down at the tea challenge once again, and that makes me happy. I wonder what he got Margie for Mother’s Day, clearly the most important day of the year for these two…I picture it as kind of...

"The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business" has crowned Kisha and Jen as the winners. On the episode aired on Mother's Day (Sunday, May 8), it was revealed that the sisters completed the final leg first and won $1 million which they will use to help their mom out.
The race started off with the four teams departing from Switzerland to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There, they faced Road Block where one team member must learn to dance samba. Dressing in carnival costumes, they later led a parade.
Mallory was the first to finish the Road Block. She and Gary then headed to Copacabana. Meanwhile, Zev was struggling with the dance and had to learn the dance three times until he nailed it. At that time, Gary and Mallory had already discovered the next clue. All team members must endure 15 minutes of a Brazilian Waxing session.

Sixteen seasons without an all-female team winning "The Amazing Race" and now twice in two seasons it's been done, as sisters Jen and Kisha took home the million dollar prize from "Unfinished Business," just a season after Nat and Kat won Season 17. Jen and Kisha are, of course, the first team of sisters to win. This is the first leg they won the entire race.

The final episode, which begins at 8/7c on CBS, will see the teams leaving Switzerland for Brazil, before eventually returning to the familiar shores of the Us. The network has already teased that one of the final challenges will have the racers "[crying] out in pain" as they endure a wax on their final leg in the race around the world to win $$1 million. This season's Amazing Race, hosted by Phil Keoghan, featured eleven fan favourite teams returning for a second chance at the grand prize. The final four teams in the running are: father-and-daughter Gary & Mallory, Harlem Globetrotters Flight Time & Big Easy, best friends Zev (more)...

Only four teams remain on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. I can't believe it! Zev and Justin, Kisha and Jen, Gary and Mallory, and Flight Time and Big Easy have made it to the final four. Will this finale end in a lot of traffic like finales past? I feel like they're always stuck in traffic.

Zev and Justin just need to remember their passports, and Gary and Mallory can't get lost for nine hours. This episode begins at the base of the Matterhorn, a mildly phallic looking mountain in Switzerland that was also recreated as an amusement park ride in Disneyland. Five teams remain in the scramble around the world for a second chance at a million dollars. So far, the teams have endured wading around in frigid mud pits and cow manure, but the viewers have endured something even more appalling: Kent and Vyxsin’s constant high-pitched histrionics and toddler-like tantrums. It almost makes us want Ron back.
As snow swirls around them, the teams head to a heli-pad to be airlifted to the detour challenge. Zev and Justin are the first team to take off, with Jen and Kisha close behind.
The squabbling Goths, as usual, intend to go through the entire leg with a good attitude. In fact, they even put on extra glitter to match the snow. The extra shine isn’t enough,...

The past few seasons of The Amazing Race occasionally foreshadowed that week’s leg with clips from the team’s pre-leg interviews.
This was certainly true on this week’s episode "Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen," but an even trickier foreshadowing moment occurred right after the Detour.
At the beginning of this week’s episode Justin commented “Ever since we hit the cold weather we’ve been running first.” Was that a sign that Zev and Justin would win another leg if they stayed in cold weather? Or perhaps the opposite if they were sent to warm weather?
Similarly, Kent commented “I feel like we become a better team the longer this race goes on”. Had the Dating Goths talked out how they needed to act to be successful? Would Kent and Vyxsin finally have a drama free leg?

Who’d have thought that an extended product placement segment starring the Travelocity gnome and some mellow Swiss chocolate makers could yield a bubbling cauldron of intrigue, drama, and hurt feelings? But that’s exactly what went down on Sunday night’s installment of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business.

Kent and Vyxsin have become the latest team sent home on "The Amazing Race". In the May 1 episode, all contestants faced one of the toughest legs as they went on an adventure amid the freezing weather in Switzerland. First, the teams headed to the air rescue helicopter port in Zermatt where they boarded on helicopter that departed in five minute intervals.
From Zermatt, they went to a mountain next to the Matterhorn where they had to choose between Search or Rescue for detour. In Search, teams had to locate a training dummy that was buried somewhere on the mountain. Meanwhile in Rescue, teams were required to use a device and rescued a mountaineer by repelling down a crevice.

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of The Amazing Race, Episode 10.
There was a lot written and talked about last week about the other teams “cheating” by sharing information on the last leg of the Race, causing the beloved Cowboys to be eliminated. Cries of “I’m never watching this show again” echoed around the Amazing Race Universe in the days following the airing of the episode.
Look, there was nothing in the rules (or in the Detour instructions) that said that the answer had to be calculated/gathered/figured out "on your own."
What about if two of the teams decided at the beginning of the Detour to ride together, and figure it out together? Is that cheating? There have been numerous instances where teams have worked together on a task...this is, and should be, an accepted form of an alliance in Tar.

This leg of The Amazing Race started in Liechtenstein, a tiny country with the second highest gross domestic product per person in the world. No one really knows it exists, unless you are disgustingly wealthy and don’t want to live in Dubai.
The first task was straightforward: “measure Liechtenstein.” One member of each team was asked to traverse the itsy bitsy country on an itsy bitsy scooter. After riding through the Alps looking like a real life Looney Tunes character, each rider was required to estimate, in kilometers, the length of the country.
Justin arrived first and gave the correct answer: 22 kilometers. Jen overheard Justin and repeated the number. Then both Justin and Jen met their teammates at Gutenberg castle and zoomed off via train to Zermatt, Switzerland, a city at the base of the Matterhorn, which is a really tall and famous mountain in the Alps. They survived back-to-back close-call legs, but cowboys/brothers Jet and Cord McCoy couldn't make another comeback on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business Sunday. After Jet was the only Racer to redo the Roadblock of measuring the length of Liechtenstein — and was left out of the answer sharing circle — the fan favorites had their fates sealed when they were U-Turned by the Globetrotters in Zermatt, Switzerland. Still, the self-proclaimed "lone rangers" don't think their independent style of racing hurt them in a leg where so many teams worked together. "If we had an alliance with the Globetrotters, I think in the same situation, they would've done exactly what they did," Jet tells TVGuide.com. "An alliance might give you that warm, fuzzy feeling, but I don't know if it's going to save you." See what else the Season 16 alums have to say about their exit, if they would've used the U-Turn and why Gary rocks.

True confessions time: I found myself frustrated and disappointed at the end of Sunday night’s installment of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. It didn’t help that my second-favorite team had been eliminated, but ultimately, it was the way they met their demise that didn’t sit right with me.
Early in the episode, the six remaining teams faced a Road Block in which one member had to measure the entire length of Lichtenstein on a motorized bicycle, then reveal the correct distance (22 km) to Olympic skiier Marco Buchel in order to receive the next clue. “The map is pretty straightforward.

Watching the end of this week’s leg of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business I now know what it must feel like to have to choose between your two children: awful.
The reality that the cowboys were going to be towards the back of the pack, if not last, was evident very early after Jet messed up the Roadblock. However, we were able to dream that another team would get U-Turned as well and Jet and Cord could use their speed to make up ground, pass a team and avoid a last place finish.
As the Detour wore on, however, it became obvious that a worst case scenario was developing. The cowboys would be U-Turned, alright. But one by one each of the teams I wanted to see forced to do the other half of the challenge - Kent and Vyxsin, Kisha and Jen or Gary and Mallory – skated by...

The Sunday, April 24 episode of "The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business" started off in Austria where six remaining teams caught a train to Liechtenstein. Once arriving there, they faced a Road Block which told them to measure the entire length of the country on a motorized bike (a Solex), using an odometer and a map.
Gary and Mallory, who arrived in last place in previous leg, faced Speed Bump in this Road Block. They had to make fuel for their Solex with gas and oil as the extra task. Justin was the first who guessed the distant correctly, followed by Jen who heard his guess. Once Justin collected Zev and Jen was back with Kisha, the two teams were on board a train to Zermatt, Switzerland where they faced a detour.
Gary, Vixen and Flight Time all finished at the same time since they helped each other with the correct mileage.

Tonight's episode of The Amazing Race finds the six remaining teams heading off to Liechtenstein and Switzerland for a Cheese Feast and Motorcycle Ride. Will Gary and Mallory be able to overcome their Speed Bump? Let's get to it.
My Random Thoughts:

Ok, ok…I’ll admit defeat and just accept the overt product placement this season, by let me ask you an interesting question about those cars: Why did they have Michigan plates?
