The X Factor judge Louis Walsh has admitted that his infamous "little Lenny Henry" comment was "a bit stupid".
Walsh went down in X Factor history during the 2010 series when, speaking about Paije Richardson, he said: "You remind me of a little Lenny Henry."
However, he has now told Digital Spy that he has no idea why he made the remark.
"The [catchphrase] I don't know where it came from [is] 'You remind me of a young Lenny Henry'," he said. "I don't know where it came from but I said it, and it was a bit stupid but people liked it. I don't regret it. I have no regrets about anything."
Walsh, who suggested that the show will be "different and bigger" this year, insisted that all the judges get on well.

X Factor judge Louis Walsh has an imaginative way with words, and certainly loves to offer a compliment. Even better when he can make an unusual comparison at the same time - a trait which Louis displayed with enthusiasm during last weekend's 'Love and Heartache'-themed live shows.
Digital Spy has chosen 8 of the music manager's weirdest compliments, both from last weekend and the X Factor archives - because although it's often followed by a billowing tumbleweed in the background, Louis's criticism never ceases to entertain and make us chuckle.
1. Nicholas McDonald has got a friend in Louis
"You're my little baby Bublé!" Walsh exclaimed to his X Factor finalist Nicholas McDonald just last Saturday (October 19). This conjured an image creepier than when Nicole Scherzinger sexily sauntered into the rehearsal room when Nicholas was practicing alone during his pre-performance Vt, or when the former Pussycat Dolls star spoke of "balls creeping...

We all know the X Factor is a well-oiled money machine, so it comes as no surprise that the show will release a celebratory Greatest Hits collection to get us buying all of those songs we probably already own.
And it got us thinking: wouldn't it be better value for money to have some songs on the collection that we probably don't already own?
The X Factor has produced some forgotten gems and stellar novelty tracks over the years, so we've listed 10 of the best that didn't make the final tracklist below.
Chico: 'It's Chico Time'
Long before Lucy Spraggan and Ella Henderson wowed audiences with their songwriting efforts, we had Chico and his wristwatch. The track shot straight to number one to become one of the UK's finest novelty blow-outs, so we're a bit miffed it didn't make the compilation. Bonus track, maybe?

Louis Walsh has revealed that he intends to quit The X Factor at the end of this year.
He has often been sent up by his fellow panelists - albeit endearingly - for either his choice of acts, songs, hairdos, outfits, or all of the above.
So, we take a look back at those loveable 'poor Louis Walsh' moments on the ITV show below - from surprise water dousing by Sharon Osbourne to Walsh's temporary replacement with choreographer Brian Friedman.
Louis Walsh gets drenched with water by an irate Sharon Osbourne, following his quip about her taking husband Ozzy's drugs on The X Factor back in 2005.
Louis attempts to criticise Dannii Minogue's song choice for her act Paije Richardson during the 2010 series of The X Factor, but gets a 'blah, blah, blah' hand gesture in his face in response.

Cher Lloyd has reportedly been infuriating her fellow X Factor stars, by bragging about her time in America.
The 17 year old singer shot to fame on last years series of the ITV singing show and has since landed a recor deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco label and worked with red One and will.i.am on her debut release.
However, it was back to earth with a bump last month as Lloyd returned to the UK and began rehearsing for the show’s nationwide tour and an insider told Star magazine that she is irritating the likes of Paije Richardson and Katie Waissel, by acting like she ‘owns the stage.’
A source said:

Katie Waissel doesn’t know why she was attacked by fans and press last year, for badly wanting to become famous.
The singer shot to fame on the 2010 X factor series, but was quickly dubbed a desperate wannabe after it was revealed that she had already taken part in an online reality TV show (Green Eyed World) and landed a small recording contract in America.
Speaking to Metro, while she is taking part in the nationwide tour, Katie addressed claims that she already had industry experience before applying for the ITV show.
She said:
“Yes, but everyone else did too. Clearly if I was a big deal why would I have gone on the X Factor?
“We all wanted a recording contract and I’ve got a passion for singing and songwriting. I watched it and wanted to take part in it. No-one knew how far they’d get when they applied.

In what had to be the most uncomfortable interview in the history of TV chat shows, X Factor stars Katie Waissel and Paije Richardson revealed that they have not yet been signed to any record label.
The singers made it easy to see why no one is interested in working with them, as they stuttered and stammered their way through the chat with This Morning’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby and looked completely baffled by every question put to them.
The pair were supposed to be promoting the X Factor tour, for which rehearsals start this week, but failed to generate the slightest bit of excitement around the shows at all.
Here’s what they did reveal:
There will be No duets.
Paije will wear a dickey bow.
Matt will be on the tour.

Matt Cardle has admitted that he never understood Simon Cowell’s decision to bring Wildcards back on the X Factor.
Before the live shows started in October, Simon, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole were permitted to choose one of their formerly rejected acts, to rejoin the lineup. Simon Cowell chose Diva Fever, Cheryl picked Treyc Cohen, Louis Walsh opted for Wagner and Dannii Minogue asked Paije Richardson to come back.
Speaking about his difficult relationship with Wagner and his surprise return to the ITV show, Matt wrote in his autobiography:
Of course, everyone got on better with some people than with others, and I’m not going to pretend it was one big happy family all the time because, as you’d expect, there was bickering at times.
As for having the wild cards come into the house in Week One, I never really understood why Wagner was brought back.

X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary has admitted that he was shocked when Cher Lloyd was placed in the bottom two on last Sunday’s results show.
The hunky star was stunned when Aiden Grimshaw left the week before and insisted that last week’s result, which saw Cher and Paije Richardson in the sing off, ‘makes no sense.’
Writing in The News Of The World he added:
Honestly, I was shocked to see her in the Final Showdown and who knows what might have happened if the judges have sent it to deadlock?
Along with Aiden, Cher is the standard bearer for a new breed of X Factor contestant that I wrote about a few weeks ago – the headlines being, they know their own mind, they choose their own songs and, in Ms Lloyd’s case particularly, they pick their own clothes.
It felt terrible watching her face during that judges’ vote.

Paije Richardson has admitted that Katie Waissel has had ‘protection’ on The X Factor.
The 20-year-old singer was eliminated from the show last night after finding himself in the sing off for the first time. Waissel has been at the bottom four times and has been saved by Cowell on each occasion.
‘Katie’s got the, I don’t know, she’s got something round her. It’s called protection. She’s got someone on her side,’ Paije told X Magazine.
Asked if he thought it was Cowell protecting her, he conceded:
‘Yeah. He likes her. She brings a lot of press and so maybe he’s keeping her for that – but she’s talented as well.’
Katie sported a shocking new haircut on Saturday’s show. Instead of her usual straw like blonde locks, the 24 year old showed off a pixie like shorn look on the Beatles themed instalment.

The former cinema worker - who was sent home by the judges following his performance of Sam Brown's hit 'Stop' in a sing-off against Cher Lloyd - told ITV1's 'Daybreak': ''I'm going to keep trying my best and doing whatever comes around and work, work, work until I achieve what I want.'' Paije Richardson was voted off 'The X Factor' last night (21.11.10). The 20-year-old pop hopeful - who found himself in the bottom two alongside Cher Lloyd after the pair failed to impress the viewers with their versions of 'Let It Be' and 'Imagine' respectively - was forced to leave the ITV1 talent show after judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh chose to save Cher. During the sing-off, Paige - who was saved by his mentor Dannii Minogue - sang Sam Brown hit 'Stop', while Cher performed 'Stay' by Shakespears Sister. After they had both performed, host Dermot O'Leary asked the judges who ..

Dannii Minogue is losing one more of her protege on "The X Factor". Paije Richardson was sent packing on Sunday, November 21 after a sing-off with Cheryl Cole's act Cher Lloyd. Meanwhile, Katie Waissel who drastically changes her look this week, escaped the bottom two after landing at the position for three weeks in a row.
For Lloyd and Richardson, it was their first visit at the bottom two and both looked mortified by the result. The judges all agreed that it was unfair with Simon Cowell saying, "I'm going to go with the person who I've continually supported. Neither of you should have been in the bottom by the way." He picked Lloyd.
Meanwhile Minogue and Cole defended their own proteges. It was then up to Louis Walsh, who thought that Lloyd did well in the sing-off and decided that it was time for Richardson to go home. Interestingly,...

Paije Richardson has become the ninth act to be voted out of The X Factor. The former cinema employee pulled out a crowd-pleasing rendition of Sam Brown's 'Stop' after finding himself in the bottom two against Cher Lloyd, who reprised her emotional "performance of the season" from two weeks ago, 'Stay' by Shakespears Sister. When Dermot O'Leary turned to the judges, all four agreed that neither act deserved to be in the sing-off based on last night's performances. First Simon Cowell decided that he was "gonna go with the person who I've continually supported" and voted to save Lloyd. Cheryl Cole quickly echoed Cowell's decision, backing her own act at the expense of Richardson, before Minogue followed suit and voted out Lloyd in order to save her (more)...

Paije Richardson made his unexpected return to The X Factor tonight and sang Roberta Flack’s Killing Me Softly for the nation.
We always loved Paije’s vibe and he is a fantastic vocalist but we’re not sure this was the song for him. He is such a cutie, though his bright red patchwork jacket thing didn’t give him a great look. We hope he gets through to next week, because we think he could have done so much better with a different song and we’re sure that Paije has a lot to bring to the show!
Judges Comments:
Louis: When you first auditioned I saw something and tonight you proved that you’ve got it. Dannii gave tyou the chance because you deserved it. You remind me of a little cuddly Luther Vandross.
Cheryl: You owned that wildcard and you sing like a diva! I love that about you.

Bookmakers are tipping Treyc Cohen to be the most successful wildcard act on The X Factor. On Saturday's show, it is believed that the judges will announce four wildcard acts. The new contestants will be chosen from a pool of acts, who just missed out on spots in the final 12. Cheryl Cole was spotted filming near Cohen's home earlier this week, fuelling rumours that she is the Girls Aloud star's extra pick. Paddy Power are now taking bets on which wildcard act will progress the furthest in the competition, which Cohen is currently leading with odds of 13/8. Cinema worker Paije Richardson (13/8), Diva Fever (5/1) and Wagner Fiuza-Carrilho (12/1) are also picking up plenty of support from punters at the moment. Girlband Husstle (20/1), (more)...

Dannii Minogue returns to The X Factor this week following her pregnancy, in time for the Judges' Houses stage of the competition. She is faced with the Boys, and standing alongside Natalie Imbruglia, she insists that they are not looking for perfection just yet, but glimmers of the 'X Factor'. Nicolo Festa puts in a strong rendition of Paloma Faith's 'New York' - however, Dannii's concerned that he will polarise opinion. Next up is Tom Richards, who wants to emulate the success of Tom Jones. He sings 'Feel' by Robbie Williams. Dannii describes him as "adorable", but feels he'd be more suited to the West End. Paije Richardson is praised for his self-awareness after covering 'True Colours'. John Wilding "stands out", while Karl Brown's nerves get the better of him, despite his "amazing talent". (more)...
