Here at Den of Geek, we love a good fan culture-inspired novel, and it’s been a delightfully active young adult subgenre since Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl took the book world by storm back in 2013.
The latest example to blip our radar? Alice Birch’s I Kissed Alice, an enemies-to-lovers rom-com about two girls/classmates who hate each other in “real life,” but who are unknowingly falling for one another online as they collaborate on an Alice in Wonderland fanfic (which also happens to be a comic). Sounds great, right?
Den of Geek has an exclusive excerpt from I Kissed Alice. Check out the official synopsis below, then scroll down for a sneak peek at Birch’s upcoming novel.
Rhodes and Iliana couldn’t be more different, but that’s not why they hate each other.
Hyper-gifted artist Rhodes has always excelled at Alabama’s Conservatory of the Arts despite...

UK comic con Thought Bubble started life in November 2007 as a one-day event in the basement of Leeds Town Hall and has grown in status and stature over the years. The festival celebrates the full breadth of sequential art as an important cultural art form – from comic art, illustration and storytelling to graphic novels, posters and animation.
We’ve attended the event for a number of years; with one of our team, Jack Kirby, even attending as a creator with his book Aliens in the Outfield – check out our coverage of Thought Bubble 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014 | 2015 – but distant and time have put a kibosh on being there the past couple of years. However that doesn’t stop us from previewing the event and letting you know what to expect should you be in Leeds this weekend…

The Tumblr round-up is a compilation of images, links, posters, stories, videos and so on, taken from the Sound On Sight Tumblr account. We simply do not have the man power nor time to write articles on every interesting movie related goody we find, so this is our way of still promoting some of the stuff we love.
If you have any interesting items that you think we should plug, please email us at admin@soundonsight.org

What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly news column that will not be ignoring Comic-Con, because the world does not ignore Comic-Con. It will also try to remain unbiased and report the news, not seethe with jealousy over all the cool things that some of you will be seeing in its absence. We begin tonight with a nice little tease of what’s transpiring inside the San Diego Convention Center. Those traveling down for the big show — including our own Robert Fure, Kate Erbland, Brian Salisbury and a special correspondent who snuck onto our contributors page under the cover of darkness — will meet some big-ass Game of Thrones banners (found courtesy of @DustinMSandoval). 1. Comic-Con attendee killed in traffic collision – In a bit of terrible news, a 53-year old woman was killed earlier today while lining up outside the San Diego convention center while waiting to get a good spot in the line for Hall...

I'm a reader of movie novelizations. People know this about me, and often ask me formy take on them. No 2010 release has been as eagerly awaited as Disney's Tangled, so it has been unsurprising to me these past few weeks that practically every other person I've passed on the street has wanted to know what I thought of its novelization. Until now, I have had to shrug my shoulders at those who have asked and tell them I had yet to read it.
I admit with some degree of shame that I only recently finished the book. It's a dense text, unlike the un-handsome junior novelization making the rounds, and at times I found myself adrift in the sea of adapter Ben Smiley's delicate diction and sophisticated syntax. The edition I read is as fine an example of Random House's prestigious Little Golden Book imprint as I've encountered, and its...
