Kenan Thompson and John Ryan Jr. announced the launch of Artists For Artists (Afa), a full-service production company with a commerce division and bespoke management representation. Artists for Artists will serve as an incubator for artists to create and produce their own content.
Afa will build companies with artists and brands that the artists and brands themselves co-own, with the aim of helping artists retain rights to their content while partnering with global distributors. The company will be operated by Thompson as co-founder and Ryan as co-founder and CEO.

A second biographical TV series about Mike Tyson is in the works – this one starring Jamie Foxx as the boxing legend and exec produced by Antoine Fuqua and Martin Scorsese.
Foxx, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in 2004 biopic Ray, will star in and exec produce Tyson, a limited series directed and exec produced by Fuqua and exec produced by Raging Bull director Scorsese and Tyson himself. Fledgling screenwriter Colin Preston wrote the pilot and is in the process of writing the full series.
The project was previously set up as a feature film back in 2014 with Foxx attached to play Tyson and Terence Winter writing the script. It has now become a limited TV series and is set to be taken out to market shortly.

Jamie Foxx will play boxing great Mike Tyson in a new biographical limited series, Variety has learned.
The series, titled simply “Tyson,” is not currently set up at a network or streaming service, but will no doubt find one quickly given the names attached to it already. Antoine Fuqua is onboard to direct and executive produce via Fuqua Films, with Martin Scorsese also executive producing via Sikelia Productions.
The series is said to span the whole of Tyson’s life.
“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Tyson said. “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.

HBO has bought TV rights to Mike Tyson’s one-man show, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth. HBO Films will film the show in July for debut on HBO later in the year. The stage production features “Iron Mike” recounting his life’s highs and lows in his signature candid style. He opens up about his troubled youth, landmark boxing career, key people in his life, controversies, time in prison, self-examination, family and new beginnings. Tyson recently wrapped a 10-week U.S. tour of the production, which debuted in Las Vegas in spring 2012 and ran on Broadway last summer, with filmmaker Spike Lee directing.
